Amazing. SIMPLE real Mexican luncheonette people! Real food for regular Jose’s and Joe’s alike. Grab a beer or a mexican soda from the cooler and wait for the opportunity to hit the condiment bar for the extras. Al pastor very good.

Sorry, but not at all impressed. I have been searching Sarasota for a decent Mexican burrito for two years. I had high hopes for this place as it is a true taqueria. The service wasn’t friendly, which I don’t mind at all– I’m all about the burrito. Maybe they make good tamales or something but my burrito was just not tasty. I loved that they had a salsa bar, but the salsa wasn’t enough to save my bland, underwhelming burrito unfortunately. Maybe I’ll try again. I would be thrilled to get a good burrito there and update this post.

I went in to purchase a spice and realized they had a little restaurant connected to the grocery. I had chicken chimichanga with spanish rice. DELICIOUS! The portion is big enough for 2 people. Authentic Mexican food on Clark Road. yummmmm

Great service! Simple yet good food. I loved the steak taco more than the others I had. Prices are really good as well.

Very authentic, family owned restaurant AND grocery. Diane M. needs a brain scan, obviously.

Friends know I’m all about the point-scale system, so here goes… +0 for(only moderate) cleanliness +1 for reasonable prices +1 for ambiance +0 for menu selection(just«meh») –1 for service –1 for food quality, tastiness(not), authenticity Another«0» earner … and STILL waiting for great Mexi in SRQ

Small little family owed business with great food. The entrance is a little strange because you go in through the grocery store. It’s tucked in back corner. I had the tacos a pastadore, a chicken and a chorizo. Pastadore was my favorite second chicken and last was the chorizo just because it was a little over cooked if not it would have been my favorite. The toppings bar is great. 3 different guacamole, pico, cilantro, onions, and a couple different hot sauses. A very good find thanks to Unilocal I would have never tried it. Will be back to try the burrito and the gorditas Very authentic.

Super casual breakfast, lunch and dinner spot popular among Mexicans in the area — a great sign! The tacos are awesome!!! Try the tacos al pastor for $ 1.75 each. Best part is the condiment buffet where you can load them up with pico de gallo, tomatillo salsa, guac garlic purée, Fresh sliced jalapenos, fresh lime, fresh cilantro, onions, and more! I’ve tried the California Burrito, Quesadilla and Gorditas as well. The GORDITA’s with any of the meat choices including chicken, beef, or pork are my favorite. The have CARNITAS on weekends only. This place is seriously low-key and perfect for a quick bite while you catch up on your latin novelas :) You can also browse/shop the somewhat sparse market while you wait for your food. Overall the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had in Sarasota.
