This is a very small restaurant in a strip of shops and bars. Two of us shared a Reuben, as was recommended by other reviews. Oh so much goodness each bite. The meat was very tender and there was a lot of it. Even the bread tasted extra good. We had coleslaw with it and it was sweet and delicious. The owner was very friendly and took the time to talk with us for awhile. We enjoyed that.

Excellent Reuben I really like Reubens and this one was one of the best I have had in quite some time. The corned beef was so high quality that it practically fell apart as I ate it, and it had an excellent flavor. This sandwich stood out. All the parts were nicely represented and you could even taste the buttered bread. The sandwich was round, which resulted in a larger sandwich than one on loaf bread. The place is small, I counted 5 tables, and it seemed to be a one person operation when I stopped in yesterday evening. I got my sandwich to go and it was ready in under 10 minutes.

«Cheap food isnt good and good food isnt cheap» this banner hangs in the restaurant and cannotbe more true. The rueben is «pricey» ato some but oh man. The sandwich is huge its enough for 2 with generous side portions. The fillet sliders give the rueben a run for the money. Both are cooked with such care and flavor. Nothing is rushed. The bread is made fresh daily. The owner is amazing. He runs food to the bars nearby. But the real treat is to sit in his restaurant and chat with him, such a cool guy! Never had a bad thing on the menu

A fantastic sandwich! I love the juicy overstuffed pastrami on rye sandwiches which used to be easily found in New York deli’s. A friend tipped me about this little deli in the Gulf Gate area. It is really good, lot’s of juice soaking into the rye. It comes with a long sliced pickle and either chips or cole slaw. Wonderful with a cold beer(take out)! Even in New York such a sandwich is harder to find now that many of the“deli’s” are just fast food or fast cafeteria. I’m told the Reuben here is also great.

Tiny place but huge in terms of food and service. I had the best corned beef I’ve had in years. Toojay’s is garbage comparatively. I can actually take a bite without pulling the entire sandwich apart and looking less than graceful. This corned beef is tender, delicious, cooked and cut perfectly. I can’t wait to try the pastrami!

Not even close, the best food I’ve had in FL and easily the best Reuben I’ve ever had. The corned beef melts in your mouth and I don’t say that lightly. I split a Reuben with my buddy and needed to hop over to grab another. I’m not gonna go into to detail –you just need to try it.

This place is amazing! My fiancé and I are reuben snobs and had to try what the best rueben in Florida tasted like. O M G… Hands down the best reuben I’ve ever or will ever have in my life! The is no comparison out there. The owner is extremely nice and puts so much heart into his business and it shows! We had it for lunch today and I already can’t wait to go back again!

These folks know their pastrami, and that’s a rare thing to find outside of NYC. I bought a pound to take home. Delicious! Good crust, perfect flavoring, the right amount of fat. The late hours are lovely for those on a weird work schedule. The only improvement I’d suggest is to add some low-net-carb vegetable sides.

Excellent food and excellent service. One of the friendliest mom and pop delis I’ve ever been to and you really can’t beat the steak sandwich.

This is the real deal… where else in Sarasota can you get an authentic N.Y. hot dog… or better yet a corned beef sandwich that rivals the Carnegie deli. And Rocky makes it easy to take home his ragu and home made soups. After a delicious meal… my wife and I will take home his ham and bean, potatoe, and split pea soups. Frozen meatballs, in his grand mothers sauce… etc. etc. Oh by the way… save room for his home made brownies. I have been a customer since the store opened… and never had anything but a great meal.

The picture shown by the previous poster was spot on. Very disappointed in the Reuben. Fellow who took my order at their shop on the Trail was great but his«guarantee that this is the best Reuben in Florida» was way off the mark. Playing $ 11.50 for my takeout Reuben I was excited to get home and dig in to something rivaling New York delis, but, alas. This is an average pretender, CB sliced too thick, skimpy/not piled high enough to warrant that price point, with something not even remotely resembling a good Swiss, on toasted Florida(faux) rye with mediocre sauerkraut and none-too-special thousand island. The pickle was flaccid and pale, shriveled, and tasteless. What a complete disappointment. Would not recommend, ever, and shame on the posters whose recommendations I relied on to give this place a try. Have you ever had a Reuben?

You’re hungry? Eat here! Miss NY? Eat here! LOVE great food? Eat here! Enjoy friendly, honest proprietors? Eat here! Absolutely delicious corned beef and pastrami rubens! And great, fresh cole slaw! We tried to order double meat and we were told that they were heavily meaty already and we took his advice. Good thing we did. We thought we were big eaters. By the time we ate our sandwiches, we were stuffed! We could have made two meals out of our sandwiches but we couldn’t stop! SOOO tastey! SOOO comforty!!! Our kids had bacon cheeseburgers, and my husband and I split a corned beef ruben and a pastrami ruben. Everyone was happy and beyond satisfied! I hope everyone will go here and support this great business so that it will always be here when we visit!(Originally from NY, now we visit every year from California!) Thanks H H & D D for a great meal!

Hubby gives the reuben 5 stars. Just like the little deli’s we find in NYC. Friendly atmosphere, outstanding sandwiches. Delicious soup! We split one– both of us(picky eaters) very happy… highly recommend if your in Gulf Gate and want a quality meal… Open till 3am!

The sign out front says«Best Reuben Sandwich in the state of Florida». So I went in and ordered a Reuben to go. The staff was very friendly but I have to say the Reuben looked exactly like the photo that the one star guy posted here. That being said, as you can see in the pic, the corned beef is cut super thick and it was as tender as you could want it to be. The flavor was good, but there are some serious delis in Boca Raton that blow this sandwich away. All in all, If I’m in Sarasota and hungry for a Reuben, I would Unilocal first and then if no other delis show up. I would go back.

The worst corned beef sandwich ever! Being from the North East. I miss the great deli’s with fantastic corned beef and pastrami. I have seen the«Best Rueben» signs and finally decided to give it a try. I ordered a corned beef on rye with swiss and coleslaw. At 11.00 I thought this was going to be one of those mile high fantastic sandwiches I have craved for so long. Instead I got a sandwich with a meager amount of corned beef, greasy toasted bread and some kind of creamy melted cheese.(not swiss) The sauce was nothing more that Mayo and oh, they forgot the coleslaw. I got the sandwich as a take out or I would have sent it back. Inedible. Check out the«corned beef sandwich» photo I added you can see the slop they served… It is not the sandwich in the first photo.
