Friendly service but food is fair to average. We only had pasta dishes(way too much sauce) and we did not order any pizza.

An old family favorite, still just as good as it was the first time I was there 30 years ago.

We’ve eaten here a few times. the Pizza is good. The ambiance is okay, but the Bartender, I think her name is Mindy, was horrible. She seemed dazed the whole time and out of it. Not attentive at all. It took Jimmy, the owner, to come over and ask if we wanted to order anything. This place is nothing to jump back to, there are plenty of other amazing pizza places around.

We have never been to this location. We ordered food for pick up. Service on the phone was terrible. arrived to pick up the food at the 20 minutes we were told. Food was not ready 15 minutes after I arrived I was still waiting listening to the two young girls/cashiers destroy another family’s night. Apparently they had been waiting 45 minutes no food and then their CC machine is down. I was watching the«manager» Terri,(she refused to tell me her last name) was attempting to write down the CC information on a blank piece of typing paper. When I asked what she was doing and why aren’t you using a proper system with a bank issued CC slip and slider she had no idea what I was talking about. In fact none of the staff knew what I was talking about, very sad. I tried to explain that I am not allowing you to copy down my CC information she said«what’s the difference?» I really don’t have all the time to list why that is wrong, it would be easier just to tell you to hire someone who knows, maybe you should call your bank and ask them why it’s important. Stupid. Anyway there were a few other things like a mouthy server butting her two cents in when she wasn’t even a part of any of this! The very tall, I am assuming the kitchen manager, who followed me out to my vehicle like he was tossing me lol. I was told if I didn’t let her write my number down then I couldn’t take the food. So I left. I didn’t have the cash and I probably would not have bought the food after that anyway. It was an embarrassing lack of knowledge and professionalism. So sad in this day and age that there is this amount of ignorance about credit card information and security and that your staff is ill prepared for basic back up protocols. I will never go back. I couldn’t give a review on the food because we never had a chance to try it!

I thought the pizza was decent but the house salad was terrible. The house salad had a ton of sliced cheese on it that was equivalent to a cheap store brand American cheese. The cheese was also soggy. I expected better for the price. I want to like this place because its so close to my house. I hope they step up their game.

I agree with the posts, We tried it twice should have learned from the first visit. It’s hardly authentic Greek or Italian food, service was marginal at best. We dined at the University location.

I want to like this restaurant because it’s close to the house, but for an Italian place, forget it. Ordered their signature dish, seafood pescatore. It looked impressive but the flavor was blah. The alleged Italian garlic bread was a hotdog bun, cut in half with powdered garlic on it. And it never arrived till I went to find the waitress. That tells you how often she came to check on us… The meal was almost done when it arrived. I really admire Italian food but this place should not drain to be Italian. Call it Greek if that is what it is. Our salads were House and Greek. When they arrived we checked to see what was different as the salads were identical. It was a teaspoon of feta cheese. Each had ¼ slice of tomato, 1 kalamata olive, 1 pepperoni I and lettuce. Forget this place.

I agree with all the one stars. Pizza crust never cooked through. Bad management. Snotty servers and hostess. Food not anything special.

Well I guess we should’ve just stayed away after our first experience but we thought maybe the first visit was an off day. NOPE! Pizza dough under cooked and the sauce wasn’t very good either. There are so many Italian places around town that are way better. Sorry but it’s two strikes and you’re out with our family!

University Parkway location. We are locals and go to only the best restaurants in the area as there are so many. First time at this new location and this is how it was. As we walked in the lights were so bright inside that it strained your eyes.(eventually turned down and there was a small applause) Very cold inside.(Joked with my wife to look around and see people wearing jackets. LOL I said those are the ones that have been here before. It was 78 degrees outside.) Garlic bread was a soggy mess terrible. The bruschetta we had was just like the garlic bread soggy mess. The topping tasted good though but no bread to put it on. I had the Gyro which was like eating strips of beef jerky almost as if someone didn’t care in the kitchen or management had no care in the world? Not sure. We talked about going back but never will after this experience. If you can’t make a proper piece of garlic bread then why are you an Italian restaurant? My family bet that this place will close it’s doors come this summer. Locals will not tolerate this kind of place. AC cranked up many people wearing jackets. It was very cold, Lights turned up so high I needed sunglasses, Garlic bread was soaked in butter, we have not been back since. I think this was a month after they opened. We live in the neighbourhood and know you have to be better than this to survive.

I guess I should I have read some of the reviews before going here. Unfortunately, I did not. We arrived around 9pm on a Saturday night. The place seemed empty(there were about 5 – 6 other tables seated) and we were concerned that it was close to closing time. I asked the hostess if they were closing. She said no. I asked her what time they close because we didn’t want to be the hold up customers as the place was shutting down. She said no you have plenty of time. OKAY. Upon being seated I asked our waitress what time they close because again did not want to be the hold-up customers and were willing to get the food to-go or go somewhere else. She said, «Oh, closing time just depends on who the shift manager for the night is. You guys are fine.» OKAY. She took our orders. The problem arrived when shortly after our food was delivered someone(I was told it was the manager) shut off all the lights. They were shutting down everything for closing and we were the last hold-up customers. I’m yelling«hello, there are customers still here!» to no avail. Finally, I hear our waitress yell that she has a table seated in the lobby. THEN, I hear the manager say, «Are there still customers here?» REALLY!!! Maybe you should have asked that question BEFORE you turned off the lights. We immediately asked for to go boxes for our food and promptly left. Both service and food are completely substandard in comparison to the one on Cortez Road. I won’t be going here again.

Their menu is not the same as the other location. In fact the prices are higher. They have a special ‘to go’ menu in which the price differs from the dine in menu, a weird way to do business. I normally go to Fillipos for pizza, but thought I would give Demitrios a try. I will continue to go to Fillipos. They have way better pizza and friendlier staff. When you are paying $ 25 for a large couple topping to go pizza I would think they would offer you some napkins, crushed red pepper, Parmesan cheese? No, you paid take your pizza a go.

Not good at all. I feel like I am going to throw up. I had the meatball sandwich which was rancid. The health department needs to shut this place down. Also it’s expensive for this type of food.

I don’t get what all the bad reviews are about — I’m NEVER disappointed when I get pizza from Demetrios. It’s my favorite pizza in the SRQ area. Dine in, carry out — doesn’t matter — it’s all about the pizza! My default order is extra cheese and meatball. The greek salads and spinach pie is good too.

Firstly, there are two Demetrios. The are somewhat different. I’ve enjoyed both. This review is for the location on the corner of Bee Ridge and Lockwood Ridge. I believe some of the reviews here are mistakenly for the other location. Let me just say that everything here is very good. The service is OUTSTANDING! The restaurant is very clean. Actually it’s quite new so that’s no surprise. The food is also very good. It might not be the best Italian in Sarasota, but I highly recommend it as a family restaurant for the price. It’s an excellent value!

I am surprised by the other Unilocal reviews. I had a very nice meal and the service was good when I visited Demetrios with my mom in on 10÷12÷14. Both my mom and I had a salad and eggplant parmesan with a small side of pasta. The food tasted fresh and we didn’t have to wait that long to be served. I actually liked the fact that the eggplant parmesan wasn’t covered in cheese(I actually could taste the breaded eggplant) and the pasta portion wasn’t huge(both my mom are watching our calories so it was just enough to satisfy us). Yes. A place like Olive Garden will give you a large(and sometimes unlimited portion) but I didn’t find anything wrong with Demetrios(and actually thought for the quality the price was fair). The only thing I might knock the restaurant is the layout specifically the entrances. My mom and I got confused which of the 2 entrances we were suppose to enter and leave from. It is not«natural» to have 2 separate entrances that dump you into the middle of a restaurant. If they put out some additional signage it would help.

I wanted so much for thus to be a go-to place for us. Monday was our third time. I don’t give up easily. Clearly. It is just so hopelessly mediocre. Between the frozen meatballs and canned mushrooms and artichokes I’m done with it. The one on the South trail seems to care more about the customer. Sorry Demitrios… you’ve lost my party of six for good.

I am a fan of there Greek style pizza. Crispy, crunchy crust and they are very generous with the cheese. Atmosphere, waitstaff was mediocre. Not the greatest pizza, but if you want a step up from the chain pizza shops then this is the place.

* Welcome Experience — Ordinary Greeted. Seated. Nothing interesting here. * Establishment — Ordinary Lots of dust-collecting décor. It’s fine. * Service — Encouraging Just right. The server was friendly and showed up the right amount of times. * Food Quantity /Quality /Presentation — Blatantly Bad I was quite surprised. To have«given up» to this extent, and allow standards to slip to this level on something as simple as PIZZA is just discouraging. The mushrooms came from a can. Isn’t that reason enough to be embarrassed? The sausage is like taco meat. You can’t even see it on the pizza. The crust had the consistency of toasted white bread. No texture. No chew.(Pic) This class of pizza is exactly what I’d expect from Chuck E. Cheeses pizza time theater. I’ll leave this to the kids birthday parties and little league celebrations. Awful. The meatball sliders were dense balls of meat schlepped on buns that were cold on the bottom and burnt on the top. The«caramelized onions»(what little you could find) were also schlepped on as if the person assembling this dish hates their job. Sorry — I always want to love these places — hoping to find a hidden treasure somewhere! The search continues! * What I’ll remember The shock of my cousin’s lunch recommendation. * What I can’t wait to forget The whole experience. Meh.
