Bent Tree many years ago played host to an LPGA professional golf event for women and the course actually has held up quite well to this day. Located just off Interstate 75 at the Bee Ridge Road exit, BTCC is at the end of a very nice suburban neighborhood which surrounds the golf course. The layout of the golf course is 100% flat although tees and greens are elevated and there are quite a bit of parallel fairways on the front nine. The back nine has much more to it, including multiple doglegs, a couple Par 4’s where driver is not the automatic play and a Par 3 almost entirely over water. Conditions were not perfect, but greens received and rolled above average while fairways contained plenty of playable bermuda while still cut down enough to get good rollout on tee shots. There was barely any fairway rough as it is obviously cut down significantly so as not to be penal to club members. Starter, pro shop and cart guys were funny and friendly although I played late afternoon and missed out on seeing any cart girls. Beware some very aggressive birds on this course which will visit your cart when you’re on the green, so make sure keys, valuables and food are not exposed. Especially because I finished in three hours and played for under $ 25, this was an enjoyable Monday afternoon of golf on a course where the best women once played for a nice paycheck.
