Excellent art gallery with friendly staff. Non-members can enter their work in juried shows all year long. Shows change monthly and have a variety of quality artwork available for sale or just looking. I was impressed with their organization and friendly volunteers. Not a stuffy place at all and visitors are welcome.

Great art center locates at the City of the Sarasota. It holds many programs. It is a member based organization. There are many special events, adult classes and workshops, youth education. The exhibit of the art is changing almost every month. The reason I were at the Art Center was to attend the special concert from the Guitar Society of Sarasota. The society has event at the Art Center with mini concert series every second Monday of the month from November to April. The Art Center has good acoustic sound that enable the classical guitarist to showcase the guitar skill without the amplifier. This month(January) they had the Trio Voila featured three instruments of classical guitar, flute and viola. The three performers were Dr. Jane Hoffman the flute soloist and faculty of State College of Florida in Bradenton, Classical guitarist, Thomas Koch faculty of State College of Florida, and Laura Jensen-Jennings is a member of the Sarasota Orchestra is equally talented on the viola. They performed the newly composed piece from Jonathan Godfrey. The name of the piece is «the Suite in MU major». Jonathan was the student of Jason Vieaus who is the current year Grammy Nominated best instrumental Solo. The classical piece that Jonathan wrote flew smoothly and displayed variety of the musical mix. The concert was from 7:30 to 8:40 pm and followed by wine and cheese. The attendees can enjoy the beautiful music and art at the same time which was a treat. Please check the Sarasota Guitar Society Website for concerts. The Mini concert series is free.
