Given the current(read:sad) state of local pubs in Saranac Lake, I would proudly recommend this bar. It’s a renovated typical dive bar that seems to be popular here. I find the place refreshing and welcoming. You won’t find a friendlier or more attentive bartender than Olivia. She’s the best around. Prices are very reasonable with daily specials. There is an upstairs room with a pool table and additional seating.(I won my first pool match in 15 years)! My only complaint would be that a few bartenders play the music too loud and it can interfere with playing scrabble on my iPhone or just sitting and thinking about life in general. And, that is what sitting in a bar with a beer is about, yes? Unless, of course, you are with friends and are chatting. But, I sit and think and wait until Olivia is free to talk. We’ll see what the future holds for this town, when the Hotel Saranac reopens, but right now, Bitters and Bones is where you want a seat. Live music sometimes.

My favorite spot in the Adirondacks for lunch. Vegetarian friendly, the mushroom sandwich is killer! Beautiful warm environment, with great drinks and friendly company of all kinds. I always make it a point to stop in!

AMAZING. All of it. Every aspect. The staff here is the friendliest group ever, and it’s easy to see why. Who wouldn’t be happy and eager to serve when working in a quaint, rustic establishment like this? The drinks are perfect every time, the food is elevated rustic, fresh, and literally incomparable. The service here cannot be beat — you’ll feel right at home the moment you walk in the door. Don’t forget to peek upstairs for a very cool game area(pool, darts, shuffle board, etc). Do NOT pass this place by if you’re in the area.

These five stars are NOJOKE. This place is perfection — exactly what a cozy little mountain town like Saranac Lake has been waiting for. The friendly, welcoming vibe when you walk in is, naturally, the first thing you notice. Then you look around, and find yourself in a perfect, tasteful, stunningly rustic bar-room with excellent craft beers, well thought-out cocktails, and a menu that is second to none in this town. The food is INCREDIBLE. The drinks are EXCELLENT. The staff is the friendliest I’ve encountered… it is my first stop once I get here… make it yours, too. You will not regret it.

The Cuban sandwich is unbelievably good. It’s a master crafted thing of beauty. The bar it’s self has a rustic Adirondack feel, and the staff is great.

Definitely the best spot in town for drinks. About a half dozen craft beers on tap. Multiple bourbon options. I had a yummy caprese panini too. Really enjoyed chatting with the staff as an out-of-town traveler. They will be expanding their kitchen soon. Definitely a place worth checking out!

A truly solid place. Well managed, clean, and a good edition to Saranac Lake. A nice and diverse crowd as well, plus a great place for live music. All I ask, is get the Yuengling on draft… Come on guys. Other then that, approved.

A fantastic establishment in Saranac Lake. The clean, rustic décor inside is fitting for the classy and relaxed atmosphere at Bitters and Bones. Twice I’ve experienced great service and now I got to make some great friends. The menu is very tasteful and the staff knowledgable. I enjoyed sharing a meat and cheese plate with new friends and we all appreciated how well the various meats, cheeses, and veggies blended in flavor. The beer selection is nice and I love the craft beers on draft. Their cocktails are top notch, I was very pleased with the Old Fashioned I ordered. It’s my test of a good drink. The bartender was very attentive and pleasant and the music wasn’t too loud so I could enjoy conversations with new friends. Can’t wait to visit again and enjoy the local scene at Bitters and Bones!

My husband and I stopped in after walking past once, and were glad we did! They were friendly and welcoming, and immediately made us feel at home. They serve several different kinds of grilled cheese — I tried the apple & Brie and my husband tried the prosciutto and Gouda one. Both were very tasty, and come with tortilla chips and a creamy tomato sauce to dip them in. In addition to the grilled cheese, they have an array of panini and meat & cheese plates. All the food is reasonably priced, from $ 6 – 9. The bar specializes in bourbon and beer, but they have vodka, gin, wine, and cider as well. This by far has been one of the highlights of the culinary options in Saranac Lake.
