We love curry. All kinds of curry(Thai, Indian, Chinese…) Tonight, we went Thai and tried the Tofu Yellow Curry. Steaming hot and creamy yellow curry over rice with chunks of semi-firm fried tofu and potatoes. So good! Enough sauce to cover the rice so you’re not stuck with ‘plain’ leftovers. Good portion for one, perfect to share and have room to try other things.

This is the best Thai curry… at Off The Grid. Thai curry is one of my favorite comfort foods despite not being Thai. With that in mind I decided to try Zombie Curry, most likely the preferred caterer during a Zombie Apocalypse, at Fort Mason’s weekly Off The Grid event. I had the green curry with chicken. I found the green curry to be comparable in terms of consistency(creamy) and taste(a hint of sweetness) to a brick and mortar Thai restaurant’s green curry. The curry was packed with big chunks of veggies and chicken and served over white rice. It was definitely warm and satisfying dish during a chilly Friday evening. I thought the price was fair to moderately expensive. The green curry was $ 7, not overly expensive, but considering the small to medium sized portion, I thought it was a little pricey. Overall, I found Zombie Curry more than capable of making a good food truck rendition of the classic Thai green curry.

I stopped by Zombie Curry’s Off the Grid stand at Fort Mason one night. I ordered the green chicken curry. For 7 bucks I got a HUGE portion of curry and jasmine rice. The curry was excellent, it was packed full of veggies and chicken and was spicy but not overwhelming. My friend ordered the pumpkin curry so I tried a bit of that as well, it was also delicious, but I preferred the green. The pumpkin wasn’t as spicy as the green.

You get four stars for your $ 2 thai iced teas/coffees. Tea is good, coffee is just ok, but you can’t beat the price. Maybe I’ll try your food next time!

Loved their curry — sadly, I don’t remember which one I ordered as it was dark out, and I ate it a couple months ago and have been slow with the uptake on giving them a review. I’m trying to find their website but it appears there isn’t one! Anyways, curry has bright flavors, solid selections of exotic and typical veggies found in curry, fast service and you might as well ask for a couple extra pieces of their roti bread to sop up the madness. Can’t wait to have it again. I hope they’re still around at OtG because sometimes, you just want a small serving of thai curry just to get your fix on without having to order the entire menu.

The pumpkin curry was good. Chicken’s tender and moist while the curry is sweet and a bit thick. The sweet potato samosa is definitely a must try here. The spicy sauce goes really well with the sweet potato. The outer shell was still crunchy and hot when they served it. The food is quite expensive for the amount they give, but the quality’s pretty up there.

Wow, so I wonder if Zombie Curry is new and word just hasn’t fully gotten out yet on this addition to Off The Grid. Yesterday was my first time at the OTG and man, it was chaotic. As hunger got the best of me, I saw one stand that was sort of hidden(and not for long) and there was practically no line. Score! They had three types of curry: a rich green version; a yellow curry with potatoes and a beef massaman. Normally I like yellow curry but the green version enticed me with its plethora of veggies. Served over rice AND with a side of naan! Yum, I think this was my favorite thing at OTG. It helps that I have a soft spot for curry and it was the perfect thing to have on a increasingly chilly SF night. They even had mango stick rice, which I didn’t get to try this time around … but can’t wait til I’m back! Welcome Zombie!
