I just love the honest and clear way the Jane Austin teaches. Plus, she is so real, and hilarious!!! Definitely highly recommended from me. I drive and fly all the way down here from Portland, Oregon just to take her workshops. Weeee!!!

So I just called this location inquiring their services and I just have to say I was in for a RUDE awakening. Whoever answered the phone(apparently a manager) was extremely rude. I was calling to inquire services for our members and since I got on the phone she had a HORRIBLE attitude!!! She was not pleasant, she was rushing me off the phone, and was being very short with her answers. I AMVERY pleased that i only called and did not actually go to the facility because I would NEVER want to bring my money there. She ended up telling me that she could be of no help at all because she did not want to do business with us, then I told her we had previously worked with Yoga Tree and even had coupons of their location for our patients so I didn’t see what the problem was. She then told me to throw away those coupons. My issue was not that she didn’t want to do business with us but her nasty attitude, people like her should not be allowed to be managers or have any type of power, she should be scrubbing floors with that nasty attitude of hers. Awesome customer service!!!

**Intimidation factor = 0** THIS is what I’m talkin’ about, Yoga Tree! My, how things change in this city. I’m kind of sad to report that I’ve been bouncing around a bit after my main teachers departed Yoga Tree Castro to embark on Urban Flow, which has since closed but they’re finding a new home, FYI! — not to mention that I’d experienced some, shall we say, unsavory service at Yoga Tree Castro in the past several years. It’s hard when you don’t feel home at your studio that’s so close to home. Then, there’s Yoga Tree Valencia, my next choice. Dina’s classes are the real gems of Yoga Tree Valencia, and if you don’t know what I’m taking about, you better ask somebody! And speaking of Dina, she was the main draw at Yoga Tree Mission yesterday, which led me to branch out into this lovely new space. Now, word from the wise, you gotta look past the funk of Shotwell street. We all know it’s a little skeezy, and truth be told, I might be scared walking around there at night. But I finally found the Yoga Tree Mission door amidst all the graffiti filled walls, and once I walked up the steps, I found a quiet sanctuary, an urban haven, a gem. The space is quiet, cozy, warm, serene and impeccable. The studio itself is dimly lit, not quite as dark as the Valencia studio, but not super bright like Castro. It can probably hold 30 people max(I’m guessing, but it’s rather small). I will say that the layout is somewhat awkward because you have to walk past the length of the studio to get to a lovely waiting /relaxation room with props, couches, chairs, light reading. It’s quite a nice spot to chill out while you’re waiting for the next class. I can’t say this is my new«home», but I sure am sure looking forward to enjoying more classes here. If you’re new to yoga, you may want to try this place.

I was feeling lazy and uninspired on a Friday at work. I had to force myself to go to a 6pm yoga class and I’m so glad I did! The studio is warm and clean and calm. The class was great. The commands between poses were concise and descriptive. The teacher, Sarah Reed, was helpful and patient with the class. I thought her ability to conduct a multi level class was impressive. She pushes you to work hard but was safe and respectful of limits. She checked in with each student about any injuries that they may have before the class started. The music was perfect. She played mellow 60’s soul that was so good but not distracting. I left feeling strong and full of energy. A good way to start a weekend.

Yogatree just opened their newest location in the Mission. Yes, they already have a location here, on Valencia, but this one is at Shotwell @ 14th. They have a special right now that gives you a 10 day pass for $ 10 that you have to use between Oct 1 – 15 for a maximum of 10 classes. I thought it was an awesome deal but then I found out they just do Hatha(at least for now) and only have a couple teachers so make sure the 6:15 — 7:30pm time slot works for you since that’s the only one they have M-F for now(no weekend classes yet). Hope they start adding some Vinyasa soon but maybe this location will focus on Hatha like the Hayes location.
