Years after starting with Dr Yantis, a psychiatrist, I keep getting better and better! Early and in some distress, I asked him«How can you be so sure that my life will improve? That got his most reassuring smile, and a quick answer: «Because I am an optimist!» His very large toolkit has a method for you too, doubtless combining his classical training and many local real-world solutions. Dr Yantis deserves your full attention!

Years ago Dr. Yantis and a rather insane internist in the same building whose name eludes me helped me get on the right set of head meds to treat chronic anxiety and stomach pains which had been a problem since high school. I distinctly remember Dr. Yantis telling me I had«character armor a mile thick»(!) Not sure if that’s good or not but I took it as a compliment.

After a particularly insightful discussion on the proverbial glass, be it half-full or eternally empty, some how Dr. Yantis and I got to discussing Unilocal and the pention for negative reviews. Naturally, I could write a few(have you tried to find good Mexican food in San Francisco?) however, this review is of the happy persuasion. Put quite simply, I adore Dr. Yantis. Once upon a time in New York City I tried a hand-full of sessions with a not-so-great doctor, who despite oddles of iced coffee and colorful festoons of flowy scarves, could never quite remember who was a boyfriend and who was a brother, whether you liked cats or had a thing for ermines and, worst of all, if it was mother issues or father abandonment. Jarred by this encounter I thought I could never love again – and then I met Dr. Y and found not only could I love, but also confide, move forward and, despite the whole«therapy» notion, feel like a very normal, well-adjusted person. Dr. Yantis seems to gravitate to the«healthy» variety of therapy, rather than the«please help me become a self-indulgent pile prone to suggestion and external evaluation.» With this gentleman, you do the work, but you get a lot of careful, thoughtful assistance and guidance from a guy that you can’t help but get the feeling you’d just like if you met him on the street… plus, I’m waiting for the Sartorialist to pick him up. Therapy at its finest. Bön appetite.
