A hole in the wall that puts out some really good dim sum. Their beef stew and wonton noodle soup is spot on and a huge portion. XLB was freshly made and steamed. The onion pancake was only so-so, needs a little more salt and green onion. They have a shrimp and chive dumpling that is pretty tasty. Filled to the brim with chives, scrambled eggs, tofu, shrimp, and vermicelli. One order comes with 2 huge servings. Will definitely be back to try other things. Parking sucks but food makes up for it.

Still a great place for some yummy fresh dim sum. Not fancy at all, more like eating in a kitchen, but good, cheap food.

The food is okay here and is really cheap. We ordered three things for less than $ 10. The worker constantly looked for us since we ordered something that was freshly cooked. Good to know they didn’t forget about us. The main reason why I give it 2 stars is for actually eating there. The table we sat at was a little sticky. The sauces on the table were all really sticky and I didn’t really want to touch it after awhile. I went to the bathroom(which was just one unisex one) and at first it seemed like the toilet wouldn’t flush. After messing with after a few seconds it finally flushed. I washed my hands but noticed that there was no paper towels to dry my hands. Overall, the food is okay but the place isn’t that clean and I won’t be coming back here again. Pros: –Good food and cheap Cons: –Sticky table and sauce containers

This is one of my favorite places for carry-out Chinese. Like others have said, the XLB aren’t great and can be skipped. The onion pancakes are very good, the runny egg yolk steam buns are some of the best I’ve ever had, and the turnip/daikon dumplings with a crispy fried shell covering shredded turnip spotted with sausage– so good. Wish we lived closer or that parking was easier around here.

Great prices and fast service! There’s limited seating so it’s easiest to get everything to go. We ended up eating the xiao long bao first, while they were still hot, while waiting for the green onion pancakes to come out. The XLB were juicy, soupy, and served in tiny aluminum liners. The green onion pancakes were fresh and hot, a tad too salty, but otherwise we inhaled them because they were so so good. The prices are super affordable here. Next time I’m trying the beef noodle soup!

Xiao Long Bao is a reliable good restaurant ‘tho I think touts a «Grand Opening» banner that’s been up on display for over a year now. The food is made fresh, and in fact you can watch them make it from the widow facing the Clement Street sidewalk. Their Shanghai Dumplings are good and fairly priced. It’s not necessarily of the famed«Din Tai Fung» quality but then again, it’s also not overpriced either, so is fair and reasonable. Parking is as it always is in the Richmond District of San Francisco, if you are wiling to walk, you can find un-metered free street parking too.

So I was pleasantly surprised when I found this place. I was shopping with my mom at the nearby Asian markets and came across a guy standing at the window making gigantic dumplings. I couldn’t help but to stare, drool, and make my way inside. I pointed to the man and asked for whatever he was making. They didn’t have any available at the time as they were in the process of cooking them. These dumplings were huge versions of the pan fried chive and shrimp dumplings you get from dim sum spots. Although these were mostly filled with tofu and chives, there were little pieces of shrimp in there. The dumpling, itself, was delish, piping hot. I tried the egg yolk bun here but it wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be. Service is what you’d expect… non-existent…but I would still like to come back and try other items that they carry.

I asked the cashier to fill up my water bottle and she very rudely said no and that I could buy a bottle of water. I know these cheap dim sum places are known for crappy customer service, but I can’t get over it. Soup dumplings were weird, not authentic everything else was ok.

I won’t say this place is dirty but it looks dirty. The counters have a greasy sheen that turned me off. I found the dumplings just average and not hot. Not going back

Having had xiao long bao in Asia and in other parts if the USA, I feel that this place falls short. The dough is very thick, and chewy when it’s suppose to be thin and silky. The meat tastes fatty and has a lot of fillers. With so many places in SF, this place falls short of it’s name.

Haha they are called Xiao Long Bao but it’s not good here. Skin is thick and just not tasty at all. However you can get this Turnip Pastry thingy that is really yummy especially when they make it fresh and not something you can easily find at dim sum joints and their shrimp and chive pancake is good too. The hot sauce is awesome. But beware of the death glare when you ask for more than 1. The Unilocalers weren’t lying about the reluctancy to give you more sauces when you ask for it. For the most part their service is pleasant but the instant you ask for more sauce you’d think you did something wrong. It’s pretty funny!

Parking can be a problem especially on weekends. Wondering what to eat? They make their dumplings right in the window. It makes you walk in to see the selection. I love their potstickers. 6 for 4.50 the casing isn’t thick and the food is very tasty. My favorite go to item is their beef onion pan fried pancake. Then the veg and pork bao is like a potsticker sandwich.

While this is not the best dim sum I’ve ever had, I appreciate the variety they have available and the speed/efficiency in which they deal with orders. The lady who works behind the counter is very sweet and will happily answer any questions you have about the buns and dumplings they have available. Prices are cheap, and I appreciate that they have a small dine-in area and bathroom available for customers(both of which are rare for dim sum shops in the neighborhood).

My new go-to to-go dim sum spot in the Inner Richmond. I like that you can see many of the items being made right behind the counter, and it seems cleaner and fresher than many of the other DS places in the neighborhood. Quick, reliable, and always good if you know what to order. My favorites: — Chili pork dumplings(or bok choy pork dumplings, these are super similar). Always boiled fresh to order so they are piping hot. Good savory fresh flavor and comes with chili oil for dipping. — Har gao. Good texture and flavor. Maybe not as good as Good Luck’s, but still great. — BBQ pork buns — small in size but great texture, actual pieces of pork not just gelatinous goo. I like the flavor and amount of sauce they use too. — Curry chicken buns — unique item, very yummy The pancakes are also good but not something I get everytime. Very filling and you get a lot for the $. Plenty of other good things to choose from but I seem to always go back to my favorite items. As others have noted, the soup dumplings aren’t really the best thing they offer, so their name is a bit misleading. I’d recommend taking out if you can. They have some tables but the ambiance is nothing to write home about. Food quality is great though!

This is one of my favorite places to go in Inner Richmond for pan fried shrimp and chive crêpe(honestly more like an Asian empanada) and steamed Bao(ranging from meat/veggie to taro or red bean). It’s easy to fill up a clamshell box full of goodies for under 10 $ :). While the name may lead you to order the xiao long bao here, it’s honestly not the best because they often get stuck in the tin cups they are served in. Like many of the other dim sum stores along this stretch of clement, this store encourages to go orders. Have your order ready by the time you get to the front or grab a menu by the register. The lines move fairly quickly Tips: cash or credit, small sit down area available for a quick eat in, paper menus are available to the left of the register Get: pan fried shrimp and chive crepes(2 for $ 3), scallion pancake, wonton noodle soup(less than 5 $)

If the name of your establishment is Xiao Long Bao, you should have the best XLB’s ever! But in this case, NO. Driving down Clement looking for parking, we just so happened to park right in front of Xiao Long Bao. My friend immediately jumped out of the car and proceeded to see what they had to offer, since he was hungry for an afternoon snack. Got an order of 6XLB’s to share. They were cupped in tin cups and were not Steaming HOT. Which was a problem right off the bat! XLB’s need to be HOT in order for the soup and juices to flow out and burn your tongue as you say it’s so good! This was not the case. We finished our order and immediately left.

My dad discovered this place and I finally had a chance to go with him to check it out the other week. We like to buy the XLB and other dumplings like the shrimp and chive which I like a lot, for breakfast. We just stick them in a steamer and they’re almost brand new. My dad said he likes the cha siu bao’s a lot and he is pretty picky when it comes to food, so that says a lot. This place is a little store with a few seats in the back just like a typical dim sum to go spot. Prices are great and food is good. We will be back to get more soon.

Love this little dim sum take out spot. They also have seats for dining-in. Their shredded turnip cake (萝卜丝饼)is the best in the city. The shell is super flakey and it is packed with fresh shredded turnips.

Okay, I’m leaving another review on this place because I over looked their cha xiao baos and green onion pancakes that are to die for. The 1 order(1 order always come in equivalents of 3) of baos were roughly about $ 2 and they’re perfect. Not too much bread, it was fluffy, steamy, the pork was not overly sweet, and there weren’t any cartilage. Their green onion pancakes are the best I’ve had & it keeps me coming back. I still feel the same about the xiao long baos tho :/

There’s a certain irony in that a place named Xiao Long Bao has the worst Xiao Long Bao that I’ve ever had. It had little soup, too much ginger and just in general did not taste very good. However, I did randomly pick up a few other items that turned out to be pretty good. The sesame paste bun was interesting and had a nice taste to it. The egg yolk bun was really good too! The pumpkin cake was bland and forgettable. While this place was not a complete waste of time due to the interesting buns, they should definitely change its name. Go elsewhere for your XLB fix.
