This gallery is a scam, the owner Justin Giarla simply a thief: since 2014 he has never paid $ 4,725 to the artist Georgi T. for his sold paintings! Contract between the gallery and the artist exists

White Walls is an excellent art gallery, and a great venue for events. The owner/curator/art dealer, Justin Giarla, is a pleasure to work with. He’s easygoing, trustworthy, dependable, low-stress, etc. The list goes on! We hosted a great party here earlier in the year and are currently planning another one later this month. The space itself is striking, and the art, always thought-provoking. Whether you’re in the neighborhood just strolling by for a visit, or looking to plan an awesome party, I recommend White Walls(and Justin)!

I hosted a non-profit fundraiser at White Walls and had a truly exceptional experience. Justin(the gallery owner), was tremendously gracious and easy to work with. He was right there during the entire event to help cater to our questions and last-minute needs with a positive, can-do attitude. This extended to event setup and cleanup. I’d jump at another opportunity to host an event at this unique and beautiful venue.

My(now) wife and I held our wedding & reception at White Walls a few weeks back and could not have been happier! Justin and Jenny were incredibly helpful and flexible making the entire experience as stress-free as possible. The venue itself creates interest with numerous rooms and different art in each area. We had a convenient bar setup in the middle, band, dance floor, and sitting areas throughout which worked out perfectly! I would strongly recommend hosting just about any event here because the owner and manager are tremendous to work with.

I love white walls, shooting gallery, etc– my soft spot is for when Jonathan Darby’s art comes to town, but on the whole, they always have amazing exhibits– one of my favorite things to do is stop in, check out the art, & then head down to turtle tower for some vietnamese food… my idea of a perfect afternoon!!!

I work for a neighborhood non-profit that has had the pleasure of working with Justin and his staff at White Walls on numerous occasions over the years. We have held numerous events at both the new and the old location over the past 10 years. Justin and his staff are tremendous supporters of Hospitality House, a neighborhood non-profit serving homeless and poor Tenderloin residents. White Walls recently hosted Hospitality House’s 28th Annual Art Auction at their newly-renovated location on Geary Street and it was among the finest events I’ve ever been a part of. Not only is the new space gorgeous(it’s actually epic), but Justin and his amazing staff truly go out of their way to help you. Literally, Justin has helped us unload our van numerous times. They are all just a pleasure to work with, which isn’t always the case with other donated spaces. Beyond just offering us a beautiful space for our charity auction, the feedback we received from our donors and supporters was literally overwhelming. People couldn’t get enough of how wonderful the event was and how gorgeous the space is. If you are looking for a unique and very cool space for an event, with potentially cool backdrops, and an attentive and wonderfully accommodating staff then you should surely look into White Walls & The Shooting Gallery on Geary!

Now til September 1, Max Rippon aka Ripo has a show at the White Walls Gallery in San Francisco, CA. His show«Signs, Fines, & Cheap Wines» displays his variety of talents using watercolor, ink, graphite, sign painters enamel, oil pastels, and intricate techniques of calligraphy and layering. The fact that Ripo has illegally exhibited his work in over 36 countries across the world, drew me in to visit this exhibit. Although a street artist, he has had legal solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Barcelona, Mexico City, London, and Vienna.

I love these paired galleries, White Walls and Shooting Gallery. We actually make a trip up to the city regularly just to visit stroll the new shows here, which are always intriguing first-class artists. And come-on. Strolling arm-in-arm through the trash filled streets of the Tenderloin, hordes of bums and shopping carts, the smell of urine, really gives it that extra ironic ambiance.

I attended an art show/silent auction here in this space and next door at Shooting Gallery to benefit a non-profit called Oceanic Awareness Collaboration which is run and staffed by a group of acquaintances of ours. We came into the city and made a long weekend out of it, centered around the show. First off I loved the neighborhood the space was in. Once we got inside I was taken by how large the space was. There was tons of wall space available holding all types and sizes of pieces. There was a DJ spinning in the front and beer and wine hosted by the group. We mingled around and walked through each space. There was a working and clean restroom right off the show floor, which was greatly appreciated. The show was a great success and the space was perfect for it.

What a cool place! I discovered this gallery by accident when I was going to an opening for Blek Le Rat a couple of months ago. That was such a great show that I’m now making it a point to go to every opening here. They find some great artists and I’m never disappointed. Adjoining White Walls is another gallery called Shooting Gallery(which I guess I should review separately), which opens shows at the same time, so you can catch two openings at once. When I went to the Blek Le Rat opening, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a couple of other artists at Shooting Gallery and just spent an hour walking back and forth taking it all in!(Hush’s work was just so beautiful!) If you like street art(or even if you’re just curious about seeing new things), make sure to swing by here and check it out. The area is kind of sketchy, but it’s only a couple of blocks away from good restaurants and bars. It’s really convenient before a night out up on Polk St.(I like to stop here before a visit to Hemlock Tavern.)

I love urban/street/pop art, and a friend of mine who knows my taste said I shouldn’t miss a visit to White Walls on my recent trip to San Francisco. Not only was her recommendation spot on, but I loved what I saw so much that I bought two pieces. The main gallery houses art from their current collection, while an upstairs loft had leftover pieces from past shows. White Walls does an amazing job of showcasing artists that take street art to a whole new level, with pieces that are timely, creative, meaningful, and accessible. I’ll admit, I don’t know a lot about art, but I never once felt uncomfortable or uneducated. Big plus. The people there were friendly and helpful, and the pieces that I bought were shipped to me quickly and securely. I’m bumming that I’m missing the Blek le Rat show that’s going on right now, but I’m sure my wallet(and limited wall space!) is breathing a sigh of relief. Highly recommended!

I’ve been to a couple opening receptions at White Walls and so far I’ve really enjoyed the caliber of the artists they’ve selected and their unique installations. The crowd is a little, well, crowded, but that’s to be expected at any opening weekend event. The vibe around this place and their neighboring/conjoined galleries is pretty hipster-y, but the folks are laid back and everyone seems to be there for a good time. Go grab a 40 oz. beer at one of the nearby corner liquor stores(but be sure to remove the brown paper bag BEFORE entering the gallery) and you’re set a low-key night taking in some thought-provoking pieces.

Went here for an opening on Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised! The artist, Yumiko Kayukawa, combines supercute characters and settings while also making you think. So much going on in these paintings! I loved wandering the gallery with a glass of wine and exploring each piece. Crowd was an eclectic mix for an opening, which made the atmosphere a little more vibrant than you find in more typical galleries. I also really like that White Walls shares space with the adjacent Shooting Gallery right next door, so you can just wander from one space to the other. The tire heap installation was impressive and I like the contrast and interplay between the two galleries in terms of style and subject matter. Overall a really nice night out!

Came out for Shepard Fairey’s Duality of Humanity show. Too bad by the time I got out to the city for opening night, the line was out the door & around the corner. No parking in sight so I ended up coming out on my downtime a few days later to avoid the chaos. The space is dope, spacious, but not too big. His work was sick, one of a kind prints. I haven’t been back since but planning to real soon. Even if you’re not a big art fan, come out with the right people & you’re golden.

After lunch at Turtle Tower we went to White Wall gallery to see the new exhibit«True Colors» by Becca. The reception was later in the evening, 7−11pm, but the exhibit was ready so we just miss seeing the artist & the crowds. Cute, colorful pics of pretty ladies. I liked seeing Becca’s work. Upstairs is Gallerythree«And a Wolf Shall Devour The Sun» by Harley Lafarrah Eaves. Very cool drawing w/lots of circles, & lines. I enjoyed seeing the art. Next door which is connected is The Shooting Gallery — also available to see. Hrs: Tues-Sat 12 – 7

You mustn’t miss Alex Lukas in «and another shall rise to take her place». This is a beautifully executed collection of pieces which illustrate life on earth after humans. Alex has used mixed media collage and gouache to illustrate a flooded world in the rear room, where major coastal cities are several hundred feet under water. These pieces are amazing, and haunting in their directness. In the front, he has evolved into painting what our decaying leavings might look like in some post-apocolyptic reality, with rusting cars, graffitied overgrowth on cement dividers, old train cars lying around long after their usefulness has past. Beautifully executed images of a lonely planet no longer infested by humans really will cause one to stop and ponder what it means to be a consumer. Despite the packed house on opening night and the big heroin-hair & makeup everywhere, this is a serious social statement. Please, get in there and check out this show. Alex Lukas is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and is a Pennsylvania resident. He has executed an enormous number of works all based around this post-human theme, and every human still lucky enough to be alive should go see it. It’s up through April 3rd. It’ll make you think twice before using another plastic spoon to eat your Cheerios. Bravo on the social statement Alex, and cheers to the gallery for displaying a truly amazing talent like him.

FREEARTSHOW. Right on. Just went to the«Family First» exhibit last weekend, and was quite impressed by this spot. Great lighting, lots of staff people to chat with, and a very professional air about the whole place: Some guy handed me a red stripe, just as I was recognizing Mike Giant. That man is f’ing ridiculous. Check him out:

The current show, «Family First», has so many top notch artists it’s ridiculous. Adam 5100, Adam Flores, and Shepard Fairey among many others. Although the artists are diverse as they can be, they all show current trends and techniques. This would be a great place to get someone young interested in art. The gallery space itself is pretty nice and well put together. White walls, wooden floors, and high ceilings. You can’t really ask for more. The owners chill out talking to their friends. White Walls is adjoined to Shooting Galleries by a doorway. I didn’t even realize it was a different gallery until I looked at their postcards. Great two for one visit! Down on the same block near a liquor store’s wall there is a bunch of Shepard Fairey street art. It’s worth it to take a gander.

I was at the adjacent Shooting Gallery for the opening of the Shag show, and wandered in here looking for that fun green stuff I saw everyone drinking. I found it. It was good. I also found some of the most beautiful pieces of art I have ever seen. Ever. Apparently that same night was the opening of Sylvia Ji’s show, and if you haven’t seen it, go now.
