Omg this place has the best server in the world. Trina is the best and I really enjoyed my time at this place because of her. Also food was good and I am sure that I am coming back to this place :)

This review is for lunch only. Btw, happy hour specials start at 11:30am. We ordered the Rainbow and Volcano Rolls to share(NOT on the HH menu) and the grilled asparagus and Boston Roll from the HH menu. Everything arrived quickly, was fresh/perfectly seasoned and hit the spot, especially the Rainbow Roll(wanted the Sushi Combo and we were sharing rolls). Can’t wait to come back again!

The waiter we had was very nice! He reminded me of the kpop singer name Jay Park. His service actually made the experience a lot better. He was nice that he apologized for my roll taking long, complimented my makeup and how he liked how white my teeth was all through out the day. The temperature of the restaurant was alittle humid for me. The appearance of the place was very classy and beautiful. One con about the restaurant is that their toilets are not the best at flushing! Haha, I attempted to flush 4 times because the toilet seat cover wouldn’t go down. The prices here are the same price as any other sushi restaurants. The highest roll is around $ 12 and the Sashimi is around $ 16. The rolls were not the best sushi we tasted. The sushi is quite mediocre and the presentation of it was unevenly cut. I got the Crunch Unagi Roll which took a bit to be served. I was fine because it had to be deep fried which as long as there’s reason then I’m fine. The other rolls which tasted very basic were the Tempura roll & Spicy Tuna roll. The restaurant’s sushi is good for just a quick lunch break. If you’re looking for a very flavorful tasting sushi or something that stands out, this may not be the best fit. Overall it was a decent experience.

I’m tremendously disappointed by this restaurant, my friends and I came all the way from Los Angeles and the first place we stop to eat was here. First of all the waitress was rude from the beginning it took idk how long to get out drinks«waters.» There was a long wait on our food and when it finally came out it was placed on our table in a manner that was so un professional. They confused our order and still gave us attitude even when the other waitress tried assisting. I can definitely guarantee you that I will never come back here and will not recommend this place to anyone.

Normally, the service is good. But tonight it was horrible. It took over an hour to get our order — and part of it was wrong. It then took another 30 minutes to get the rest of our order. You might think it was super busy, but when we ordered, there were only 3 or 4 other patrons in the restaurant. A discount wasn’t offered, so I asked if they would give one due to the very poor experience. I was told the owner doesn’t do that.

Went on a weeknight. It was empty. Sat at the bar. Ordered toro, hamachi, spicy tuna hand roll, & fried/tempura shishito peppers.(So awsome they have tempura shisito peppers). Drank some Saki. Can’t complain at all. This is a great sushi restaurant the quality of the food was above par.

Rude Chinese people. Ordered delivery… And two hours later a walking talking cock showed up with my food. The worst experience in the city.

Looooooove this place. If sushi was a drink, this would be my watering hole. They have super cheap specials every day from 11:30 — 6:30EVERYDAY. AAAND they usually have their wifi up. Which means you can come at 3:30 to do work, grab some sushi and chill out, OR you can get here at 6 with a friend, order quickly and escape with a great deal. I’m usually here for happy hour, but I do come during their full-price fancy time. I also want to be clear that their ‘full price’ is still very reasonable. It’s not the best sushi in the world, but I think it’s the best sushi in the Castro. Things to note: — The grilled asparagus is DE-LICIOUS — Pork gyoza = amazing — Shrimp Tempura role is my personal favorite — The seared scallops with eggplant is HEAVENLY(try it) — Dragon rolls are great Pretty much everything you can order is great. It’s clean, tastes great, and the service is attentive and fast. The vibe is chill, casual, kinda loud once people get drinking, but it’s also a place you can pull your laptop out at the bar… «Very SF» as it were. If you live within 4 blocks and haven’t been here yet, WAT are you doing with your life?

This is a nice venue with ample seating. There’s happy hour from 1130 – 6 offering sushi rolls for $ 4 – 5. The sushi was good especially for the price and the service was adequate.

I like this neighborhood place. It’s a trendy spot. The happy hour is really good. My fav is the Tiger roll. I wasn’t a fan of the ramen. Other than that everything else I have tried has been good. It hits the spot when you are in the mood for some sushi!

We came in close to closing time and the only downside was having to ask the hostess to sit us after a few minutes of waiting. They were super dead and the food came fairly quickly. Delicious food and good ambiance. Tastefully decorated and great window seats to people watch. I would come back for the food alone it was well worth it.

We popped in for happy hour and had a delightful experience. Our server was prompt and lovely, the asparagus rolls were fresh, sake hot and oysters tasty. Would gladly come back.

I seriously don’t understand any of the negative reviews on here. Wasabi Bistro is still amazing!!! I went in there today and we had the best meal from them yet! They do their happy hour deal even on Saturdays(sidenote: OFCOURSE you can’t pay happy hour prices for to-go, every one knows that!). $ 5 rolls, cheaper appetizers(which are all super tasty) I’ve only had kind attentive service from this place. The sushi and oysters are fresh and delicious. We really enjoy the calamari appetizer and 1 $ oysters during happy hour. We left only wishing we could come immediately back and gorge ourselves on more delicious sushi and snacks. This place is NEEDED in our neighborhood. The ambiance is fantastic, the service is friendly and the food is affordable and exceptional. Always a happy day with Wasabi Bistro in my belly.

This place is the WORST! Mediocre sushi, Chinese owned trash!!! Nothing spectacular, safe happy hour!!! They charge .25 cents for a take-away-bag!!! You are only supposed to charge .10 cents per take-away bag!!! In San Francisco!!! These guys are thieves!!! And have NOAPOLOGIES!!! Are we paying for the owners retirement in another country!!!

Definitely one of my favorite places to go! It’s right by where I work so super convenient and everyone here is so nice! Excellent service! Every time I’m here Wendy or Serena are the ones who help me out and they both give excellent, friendly, and fun service every time! They always remember me and it feels more like chatting with friends! Definitely love the vibe here and the food is AMAZING! I’ve only had great experiences! :)

Excellent place to go to! I’ve been going regularly for about a year and never had a negative experience! Serena and Wendy are especially great. Even when walking by, I’ll stop in just to say hi. These two are very personable and present such a warm welcoming environment! I’ll continue to come here and recommend it to others. Part of a good dining experience is the service, and the service here will exceed expectations

Every single item was fresh and delicious. We went during happy hour and took advantage of some great deals…$ 4.95 rolls, $ 2.95 hand rolls, $ 1 oysters(minimum 6), drink specials, etc. My personal favorites were the spicy unagi hand roll, the scallop roll, and the oysters(5 star/amazing)!

My first experience here was almost 2 years ago, and I remember it being quite good. My friend frequents the restaurant a lot, so I figured it must be good still. Well, the food was good, but I experienced the weirdest service ever. Let’s start with the food though. I ordered the bacon scallop, which took a while to make but I was glad because it was grilled perfectly and had the natural flavor of the scallop and bacon without any extra sauces. The tuna tataki was not the freshest, and had a super rubbery texture. The teriyaki/soy sauce saved it from being a flavorless, mushy disaster. Finally the veggie tempura was quite nice. Perfectly fried. So the next part was really weird. My friend asked for a glass of water, and upon bringing it, the waitress asked if I wanted a glass of water too, so I said ok. She replied«why didn’t you tell me earlier so I could bring them at the same time. Now I have to go back and get it. hahaha, just kidding.» At first I was going to brush it off, but then it sunk in and I was furious. I’m thinking you asked me, not the other way around, and second I don’t even know you. I haven’t become a regular customer to have that kind of banter. It was just completely weird and unnecessary.

Yay for $ 1 Oysters! The oysters were fresh and tasted amazing. Their sauce is pretty good, it was similar to a light soy sauce but a lot better and I loved the onions on top. The waiters were really nice. My only complaint was that it took quite a long time for the oysters to come out even though there wasn’t a ton of people at the restaurant.

Sexy, shiny lounge like décor. think Carbon Lounge on Bay Street sorta. We were too late for happy hour but we picked Wasabi Bistro due to location, and the good reviews. Also, because my friend wanted ramen, and I wanted some sushi or other non-noodle options. We shared the veggie gyoza. He got the chicken miso ramen and I got the Castro Roll.well.when in Castro right?! The Castro roll was spicy crab, avocado, cucumber, jalapeño and Suzuki(waiter described it to me as like a butterfish) and a special spicy sauce. Veggie gyoza was nice and crisp but not greasy filled with delightful veggies. My Castro roll was huge and yes indeed, spicy! The seafood was fresh and it was a great roll. However, after I ate a few pieces, I noticed a hair ontop of one of the pieces.ugh.and I don’t think it was mine. But this happens at so many restaurants so I won’t hold them too accountable for it. He enjoyed his huge bowl of ramen. I like how Wasabi Bistro offers a lot of alternatives for SF’s diverse clientele — veggie options, soy paper options for sushi, etc. Service was friendly and good, but then as they got busier a little less attentive. Prices are a little on the higher side. I would give them somewhere between a 3.25 — 3.5. I would be game for coming again for some more rolls and drinks if I needed to meet up with him in the Castro area again.

If I had to pick a sushi/Japanese restaurant in the Castro district, it’d be Wasabi Bistro. I pride myself in thinking that I’m somewhat of a sushi connoisseur, and in terms of taste, service, décor and price(not that this place is cheap, because it’s definitely not). Value wise, they have an excellent happy hour menu: $ 1 oysters, $ 5 tempura $ 4 gyozas, a real bang for your buck. Moreover, their happy hour starts at 11:30am, which is unheard of. I recommend their 3pcs/or 6pcs Omakase menu in order to enjoy the best and tastiest sushi they offer. I HIGHLY recommend their seared walu sushi-succulent, tasty, buttery, orgy and heaven in your mouth awesomeness. As of right now, I’m the«duke» of Osaka sushi, which is a far cry from what Wasabi Bistro is. It’s just that the later is right across from my work and I rather not walk further. I strongly recommend you to try this place. Great food, Assertive service and has a modern touch in its décor. 5 stars!
