This establishment charged my credit card without my authorization. I had ordered one single bottle of wine and they never notified me that the wine had arrived and then suddenly they charged me $ 50 a month for 4 months for storage of a single bottle of wine. Yes this is not a mistake my wife informed me that they have been charging us $ 50 a month for storage of one bottle of wine I’m not sure if this is normal but this is what they did to me

Tried to order a bottle of wine online of Screaming Eagle 2011, attempted to order 2 bottles, put through purchase and realized I only ordered I bottle. Went back to buy the second bottle and it says out of stock. So I spend a couple of minutes googling and find another seller that is offering the wine for $ 100 less per bottle. So exactly 9 minutes after I placed the original order I emailed in, asking if they could please cancel my order, they hadn’t even charged my card yet. This is the response I got: Can you please cancel this order? Thank you, Ryan to me Hello Ryan, Thanks for your order. This is a Marketplace sale, which is defined as a final sale, and cannot be canceled. The seller has already been notified of the sale; it is vital to maintain the integrity of our site that such orders are not canceled due to reasons such as buyer’s remorse. I am sorry that we cannot meet your request. Best wishes, Paul Towey — So I called Paul and said this was ridiculous, the order was made in error, I wanted 2 not 1, and have subsequently found the two elsewhere. He proceeded to tell me that he was not going to cancel my order as it would impact the integrity of the relationships with his suppliers, I said what about the integrity of relationships with his customers??? He said his suppliers are more important because they are longer term! Hahaha. So I asked him, what are my options I want to speak to his boss, he told me she is holidaying in Europe and won’t be back until September. So I said, you really aren’t going to cancel this order? It was for a $ 600 bottle of wine? Do I have to sue you? He said yes, sue me, or call up your bank and dispute it. So I had to call up my bank, and cancel my credit card so he couldn’t put the rest of the charge through($ 40 deposit was already taken as soon as I clicked buy online), and I had to actually report this company as fraud in order to prevent them charging my card. Then a number of hours later I received a call from Paul, he left a voicemail saying«Hi Ryan, calling back to let you know we won’t be charging you, we have cancelled your order and refunded you». What the freaking heck? Why not just do that to start with! I had already bought the 2 bottles from Belmont Wines, who were $ 100 cheaper per bottle, and much much more reasonable to deal with, dealing with Vinfolio was a painful and stressful experience and now I need to wait for a brand new credit card and set up all my direct debits again because they made me cancel it not to mention file a fraud claim with my bank for the $ 40 deposit. Before you buy from these people, just stop and think about the mentality of Paul and his cohorts who would cause a mess like this, and how they will probably treat you the same way.

I’ve been buying, selling and storing wine with Vinfolio for over 3 years. I’ve been extremely happy with the selection of fine wines available through their web site, and with their responsive customer service. I particularly like the notifications when wines of interest become available. Over time I’ve seen the web site and processes for storing, buying and selling improve considerably, but there is still work to do to improve processes, timeliness and transparency.

As a avid wine drinker and quite a picky one at that, Vinfolio has a massive selection of decently priced varietals competitively priced to the overall wine market. I had wines shipped down to Palm desert for a girlfriends bachelorette party and the wines arrived on time, beautifully wrapped. All the ladies were had purchased grocery store wines and were blown away at the wines I purchased from Vinfolio-fantastic old world roses, chardonnays and reds. They were also quite ecstatic about the delivery service and rates that Vinfolio offers their customers and ended up consuming all my Vinfolio wines. By the time we got to their grocery store wines, everyone was complaining about how bad those wines tasted against the wines purchased from Vinfolio. Next time I will make sure to order more from Vinfolio! KUDOS!

I use their cellar management system and love it. I store my wine in a wine refigerator and can quickly find it by location, using criteria of vintage, varietal, region etc. I also like the fact that tasting notes from other users appear for wines in my collection automatically on the home page. The only glitch I run into is when you upload a list of wines, they sometimes don’t recognize fairly common wines and reject them. Also, sometimes their database is just wrong and you can’t override it. I was trying to add a pinot from a certain vineyard and the system kept telling me that that hadn’t been made since 1990 and wouldn’t let me add it. Having said all that, I still love it.

They charge $ 25 per month minimum for storage without letting customers know the details of how they automatically charge for storage. The cryptic email tells customers that the $ 25 min charge on the credit card applies as an overall charge, where each bottle is $ 1+ charge per month deducted from the $ 25. Turns out it is not the case. They charge $ 25/mo even if u have 1 bottle. WOW, that seems exorbitant without a clear message to the customer.
