We hired David to pick the colors in our house and he did a wonderful job. We have open beam ceilings that run inside and outside the house and we had to choose a color that worked in both areas. We also had to figure out a solution to deal with our ceiling that was partially painted and partly stained. He came up with a solution that was clean and made our house feel so open.
The most interesting thing about working with David was how intuitive he was. We have 7 Oak trees on our property which are very prominent — he worked within the pallet of the trees in matching the colors which really brings the outside in.
I highly recommend David and I know we will use him again.

I just completed my initial visit with David to select a color palate for the upcoming restoration of our 1908 Edwardian. I don’t admit to having a knack for choosing colors — at all — but I do know good style when I see it. I was also very nervous tackling such a contentious decision while respecting the wishes of 3 separate property owners. David skillfully navigated a group decision, kept everyone focused, brought tons of examples, and stunned us all with his extensive background in period architecture. You want this guy in charge — he knows what he’s talking about.

David van Dommelen is a very talented and professional colorist. He is also a very nice man.
When I bought my home, I needed help figuring out what colors to use in each room. David came over and quickly identified my preferred style, provided a number of good paint color options (specific Benjamin Moore shades), explained how the rooms would «flow,» and charged a very reasonable amount for his time and services.
He also made himself available for a quick follow up consultation (via e-mail) when I needed his advice on substituting one color for another.
Seriously, hiring David was probably the best home decorating decision I’ve ever made. I enjoy the colors he selected for me every single day.
