Every Thursday from 5:30−8pm through June 2014 at the Pier 70 location where 22nd Street hits the Bay. The Rogue Traders meandered our way out to Dogpatch a couple weeks ago where the 22nd st. sidewalk ends– since when did we start calling it Dogpatch anyway — we made our way through security, parked crooked like, in front of the most gorgeous mess of a building I’ve ever seen. The kind of space you want to ride a tricycle around in, hula-hoop, listen to live music, sing loudly and picnic in. We almost did all those things. This happens every Thursday night, but only through June! A night food market on the Bay. My companions are not as curious as I-I had to taste every thing from the freshly fried beignets, to the backyard honey, paper thin crackers covered in seeds and an almond croissant so heavy I couldn’t bare to share it. Then there were fresh baked cardamon butter cookies and this was all before dinner. The music played, happy birthdays were announced, fresh picked veges were procured, hand printed note cards were bartered for future goods and Pier 70SF came alive while the sun twisted into the factory windows variegating blue to orange to pink. I even found some dear old friends I hadn’t seen in nearly 10 years! Thank you Austin Press for the the beautiful note cards, the friendship and the invitation. The Rogue Traders hope to be peddling and bartering here before the end of June.
