Closed down!!! I just recently discovered this place and it was delicious! Service was pretty good too Came here on tuesday only to find that it was closed, windows were covered and a new name was on the door. I think they’re remodeling?

The best Thai restaurant in San Francisco, possibly the world. Whether you are in the mood for noodles, curry, soup, or anything else, this place simply ROCKS. They have me coming back week after week for my daily dose. They have incredible specials and yummy ice cream! Try the coconut or thai ice tea ice cream. You will feel comfortable coming here by yourself, on a date or with the family. I want PADCU so bad right now, Ty Bistro is a must try in a cute neighborhood.

This is a really underrated place that I think beats some of this town’s juggernauts(Osha; King; Express). Very friendly family-run place. Casual comfortable atmosphere. Pad prik king is great — thick pieces of perfectly spiced beef paired with great spicy greenbeans. Pad thai is solid. Pineapple fried rice is a good mix of salty and sweet. Highly recommend.

I have been this place so many times and love the foods. It never really crowded but as good as crowded place:) so far the best thai food place. Prices are also reasonable. You should order –food– 1. Egg plant salad 2. Tom yum soup 3. Pumpkin curry 4. Shrimp Lovers –drinks– 1. Thai ice tea 2. beer –dessert– 1.panna cotta(I’m not sure about the spell.) 2. crem brulee(they might not have it anymore.) Trust me. Order them. You won’t regret! Other tips, I do not like pat thai here. I don’t like some of the server, because they take away dishes that I’m still working on without asking… The guy, the manager, is nice though.

I wanted to go to Fresca at around 9:25pm but they wouldn’t serve us because they were«closed» so I ended up at TY Bistro. Their kitchen closed at 9:45pm so we still had time to eat. We were so relieved because I was super hungry from a long day of school. TY Bistro is located among the residential area by West Portal. It’s a decent sized restaurant and its décor is modern. It’s a very clean looking restaurant. The owners were very friendly and the service was quick. We were able to order, eat, and pay by 10pm. We weren’t rushing through our food our anything and they did not rush us out either. The food was good though. Despite the fact that we were the last ones to be there at about closing time, the food tasted like it should. We got some fried calamari($ 7), tom yum soup with prawns($ 7), and pad se ew with chicken($ 10). Everything was tasty and hot! I loved the tom yum soup. The hot and sour soup was just the right amount of spicy for us and it felt good in my tummy on such a cold day. As for the pad se ew, it was delicious and the noodles were so fresh. They were thin and smooth. Just perfect! I think this is a great place for locals to stop by, especially if you live in the area. It’s pretty affordable and the food is good.

I have only ordered delivery and have never eaten in the restaurant. So my review is solely based on delivery and food. Delivery is either a hit or miss but always within the time frame they say. Today I ordered and they said it would take 45 mins. It arrived in 20 minutes. I ordered the Pumpkin Curry with chicken, brown rice and the corn fritters. I wish they would put more chicken in the curry. I like the cucumber salad they serve with the fritters(but wish there was more). Over all, the food tastes pretty good to me.

I came here for dinner last Sunday and had a pleasant experience. TY Bistro is very warm and charming, and although it wasn’t packed, I know it’s a neighborhood gem. I liked how the place is decorated with personal touches, and the seats were comfortable as well. We ordered a volcano duck, pad thai, thai iced tea and mango sticky rice. We also ordered a jasmine rice and a sticky rice. I liked how they folded a tiny paper rose to put on top of the straw for the drink. The food came out promptly and the portions were decent. I found the duck to be a little salty, but that’s thai food for you. I loved the mango sticky rice, which was made perfectly. Something that caught my eye on the menu was the Evil Jungle Prince curry, although the description sounded quite ordinary, I’m still going to give the dish a try next time. Overall, this is a really cute place and perfect for a quite night out or a casual date. I really like the laid back and inviting atmosphere. Definitely a solid Thai restaurant with its own charming character.

TY Bistro simply pales in comparison to the cuisine and warmth of Silver Spoon – the Thai restaurant that sat in this space for several years. First, we walk in to rather cold and empty faux chic urban industrial room with tablecloths on one side of the room. Then we are promptly – and without asking – escorted to the side of the room with no tablecloths. Minus 1−½ stars right there. Other than the two of us, just a party of four on the same side of the room. While we dine – again on the same side of the room – the youngish owner/manager proceeds to calculate the evenings earnings with receipts and cash box, and talking shop with a waitress. This occurs about 3 – 4 tables away from where we sit, and in plain ear– and eye-shot from our table. Very low-class. Minus one star. Pad Thai, green curry and cold shrimp roll appetizer were way below par with most Thai restaurants in the City. Minus another two stars. Hmm. That leaves 1−½ stars total. I’ll round up because the staff/ownership seems young and inexperienced. I’ll give them an extra half star in hopes they will learn something and strive to improve.

«Did you know Thailand has the longest capital name in the world? Krung Dhep Mahanakorn Amon Rattanakosin Mahintara Yuttaya Mahadilok Pope Nopparat Ratchatanee Burirom Udom Ratchaniwet Mahasatan Amon Piman Awatan Satit Sakkatattiya Witsanukam Prasit» Good thing the menu is MUCH simpler. EVILJUNGLEPRINCE $ 9(chicken /pork /beef /tofu) or $ 10(shrimp): Thai Eye of Mordor. Exaggerate the spice level when you order. SHRIMPCAKES $ 7: Like chicken nuggets except shrimp. An AAU student shot the hanging photos, 4 of which were winter scenes of Golden Gate Park’s Japanese garden. While Thai restaurants should use whatever art they want(Gecko Gecko )(Lers Ros )(Tawan’s )(HRC ), I think the differing Asian cultures of the photos and the restaurant could muddle the ambience in TY’s case. Paper covers most of the tables. Bring drawing supplies. Draw as you try some house-made desserts. GAMEIDEA: On the table paper, each person makes a picture to accompany the current radio song.

Good food, cute ambience! I just moved into town and my roommates took my family and me here for my first meal living in San Francisco. Coincidentally, my roommate remembered that this was the first place she ate when she moved in, as well! It was cute inside with simple décor and good for groups /families. It was a Friday night around 6pm but there was only one other table occupied, with another group of 8. ==Food== We ordered 5 dishes for 6 people and ate family style. It was a bit pricier than we expected; $ 2 for just a little bowl of rice seemed a bit steep. I might just not be used to food prices in SF yet. — Papaya Salad: For some reason super spicy. Came out before all the other dishes. I’m not much of a salad person so I would say I would skip this course next time as it wasn’t particularly filling or memorable. — Pad Thai: Can’t go wrong with pad thai! Not too greasy as it sometimes can be at Thai restaurants. — Pad Kee Mow: Really yummy. Not a dish I’m used to ordering, but my sister suggested it and it was really good. I like the flat noodles. — Yellow Curry: Good standard curry. Not too spicy. — Duck Curry: The duck was really good! I would recommend this curry over one of the more standard ones if you’re feeling adventurous. ==Parking== We parked up the street a couple blocks away. It wasn’t too hard to find a spot in the residential area. ==Service== Friendly and appropriately attentive. Overall, good food and fun to try different things if you order a couple things and share with a group.

Most of their curries are pretty good. Don’t be tricked by the description of «mild chili paste» in the panang. If you’re not a spicy food person, don’t try it. I thought it was just as spicy as the other curries. I was going to say watch out for the kang par curry because that is some crazy spicy curry, the second time I ordered it, it was horribly watered down. Probably people were complaining about the heat. Still burns quite a bit, but not like the first time where I had to have a scoop of rice with a drop of curry. The one time I ordered the pumpkin curry, the pumpkin so sweet it almost could have been a dessert. Great if you like sweet and spicy. Their volcano duck is also pretty ace. Fresh spring rolls had something funky in them I didn’t quite like. But usually I just order the lunch special curries since they all go well with rice and I can spread it over the course of several meals. Definitely a go-to for some solid Thai food.

I really want to like this place because of their no MSG policy. And honestly I’ve never been there in person, only order delivery. So my opinion has nothing to do with ambiance etc. I’ve ordered Pumpkin curry: flavorful but the huge chunks of pumpkin were difficult eat(they were about the size of my fist) Red Curry w/tofu: There was something not quite right about it but i couldn’t put my finger on it. It tasted more like a mix between panang and red curry. Also there was hardly any eggplant in it. :( Fresh spring rolls: Dry and disappointing. Sauce was odd tasting Pad Thai with Prawn: Meh Chicken Satay: A little on the small side and the peanut sauce could have been better. Delivery service(keep in mind I only live a few minutes away): Terrible! The first time they took about 50 minutes. The second time the took an 1 hr and 30 minutes!!! I called several times and they kept telling me it would be there in 5. It was so aggravating. Definitely not ordering delivery from them again.

This is the best Thai place I have been to. Whenever I am itching for something spicy, soupy, and full of flavor– I go here. They have great lunch specials for $ 7, including their DELICIOUS pumpkin curry. Everytime I come here, I am greeted with warm and sincere smiles. The staff is unbelievably nice and have left me with high expectations for service elsewhere. My favorite item is the pumpkin curry with beef and brown rice. It has chunks of pumpkin in it too and has a little spice to it! YUM! The pad thai is also very good here. If you want some great curry, come here. You will leave with a new favorite place on your food list.

3.5 stars, actually. I want to love it, but it’s just not quite there yet. I’ve been here on multiple occasions actually. The first visit was during their lunch special hour when I ordered pumpkin curry that came with rice for just $ 7. The curry had soft and flavorful pumpkin and tenderly cooked chicken. It was truly delish, especially coming from someone who doesn’t like pumpkin to begin with. Tasty and cheap, just my style. After having such a great experience the first time, I thought it was a good place to bring my friends here for a reunion. That marked my second visit, which unfortunately left me with tendrils of distaste. The pumpkin curry that I fell in love with the first time seemed to have been a hit or miss ordeal. The pumpkin this time was hard and undercooked, and as I compared my pumpkin curry to my friend’s Evil Jungle Prince, the two seemed to have been made from the same base, which did not appeal to the chef side of me at all. On top of that, while I understand that rice isn’t usually complementary unless during lunch specials, $ 3 dollars is a bit steep for a small bowl of rice. My third visit was to buy lunch take out for my little brother who goes to the elementary school up the hill. The rice was undercooked, and did not complement the curry. This restaurant definitely delivers their food fast, but the inconsistency with their food is a drawback. I would come back again in the future to try my luck with their food, but that is only because of the restaurant’s accessibility and speed.

Solid! This place serves Thai food that is not like some of the hole in the wall places we all have been to that tend to dish out more Chinese style food than Thai. I used to live in the area and walked by this place and its different iterations 1000s of times though never went in. Boy am I glad we did. Décor upon entering is nice and inviting. We walked right up to the counter where a nice woman greeted us with a smile and«How can I help you?» Put our order in for yellow curry w/Chicken, spicy eggplant and pad see ew. After waiting about 15 minutes, our order was ready to go. Brought it back and discovered that the eggplant(my favorite Thai dish) was more like a salad. After the initial disappointment of learning I wouldn’t have the dish I was used to, I tried it. Amazing! The flavors were different from anything I’ve tried before. Prices are more expensive here than other places you might have been to in the past, though it is San Francisco and in an area where I guess ppl tend to have a little more money. It’s worth going there if you’re not getting too many things that would then break the bank.

TY Bistro is a prototypical Thai restaurant that yuppies love. The appealing décor is chic, which matches the supposed contemporary menu. One of my pet peeves is passing off traditional flavors as new by plating it on a novel plate or bowl(which is what happened here). Both the Evil Jungle Prince and pumpkin curries have the same base, which are heavy handed in chili paste, coconut, and basil. The only difference is that one had cubes of pumpkin(which didn’t add much to the flavor), and the other had Napa cabbage and spinach. Still, I will hand it to them that the curries were tasty(if you like coconut like I do) and the portions were generous. The other annoying thing about TY Bistro was the hidden cost of the rice. The waitress asked what type of protein and rice we wanted with our curries. Isn’t it common sense for rice to come with curry? It’s already a bit ridiculous to charge $ 3 for rice, but at least let your customers know that it’s extra.

Large portions, seriously! I actually came here a week ago and again just yesterday. I came here with a group of 6 others around noon for lunch on a Saturday. Service was fairly quick, as it seemed like they don’t get much of a rush on weekends. I ordered the Sweet Pumpkin Basil with a side order of Jasmine Rice. The portion of the entrée itself was large enough that I didn’t even need the rice, considering how by the end of the meal, I found myself with half my entrée staring back at me. Needless to say, you’ll definitely a lot of bang for your buck. The rest of my group thought the same, as the majority of them shared most of their dishes to be able to finish their dishes. The only reason I’m holding back on that last star is due to their customer service. I loved the service on my first visit, but on my second visit, there was a different waitress and her attitude wasn’t as welcoming. She sounded pretty impatient when we were inquiring about the rice, whether it came with some entrees(like the curries) or not. Also, she appeared to be busy playing on her smartphone while we were trying to get the check. As the only group in the restaurant at the time, it was difficult to understand how little attention she gave us. But overall, TY Bistro is a must-try, in my opinion!

A superior restaurant for Thai curry. Some friends [What up Julia K. and Angela Y!] and I stumbled upon TY Bistro a little spontaneously, but it was such a delicious surprise. From the décor to the service to the food — pure comfort. The ambiance itself was minimalist and modern, with a couple red pillows lined up along the right. Simplicity always wins with me. Among our group of four we ordered individual entrees, including: Evil Jungle Prince(spinach, basil, cabbage, and spices), Kang Par(bamboo shoots, bell peppers, string beans, eggplant, basil with no coconut milk), Duck Curry(self explanatory), and the Pumpkin Curry(mine!). It could have just been the brisk SF weather that got to us, but everything was incredibly delicious. Our dishes came out with little wait time(I WILL note that it wasn’t very busy) and at a decent temperature for consumption. Either way, SOHAPPY with TY Bistro. My pumpkin curry was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, with just enough kick(not too much, though) to keep me going throughout the meal. I highly recommend it. Curries don’t come with rice, and you pay for servings of rice separately. I’d recommend ordering one and sharing(it’s more than enough) with individual sides of rice. Overall, a good, reliable [I’ll find out after I revisit!] find.

Stopped by TY Bistro over the holiday weekend. We were greeted by the owner and seated immediately. We browsed the menu and settled on: –crispy calamari appetizer(yum! Loved the crispiness of this dish) –Tom yum soup with shrimp(each bowl had 4 shrimps! wow!) –green curry –pork neck(a must to order!) All the food was delicious! We ate almost everything and have to agree with other Unilocalers that the portion sizes are larger than most usual Thai restaurants. Our favorite dish was the pork shoulder! We also tried one of their homemade desserts — a coconut type cake and ice cream. Nom nom nom!
