Totally loved the veggie calzone(although I ate it awhile later so it was cold) — had a good balance of flavors. But the thing that really rocked my socks was the trail mix cookie — it was oatmeal rasin, with cranberries, walnuts, and chocolate chips! The people there were nice too. :)

I wish they had one of these in the east bay. The Double chocolate cookies are amazing(25% cookie sales go to UCSf children’s hospital). Almost like a brownie but better. I got the Hillas Thrilla calzone with mozzarella roasted onions, sorpresatta hot honey and red sauce. What a surprising find in soMa in an alley.

I never got to try a cookie after an amazing salad at Darwin Café. The staff there let someone buy ALL the cookies while I had asked for them to save a cookie.

My office just moved into the neighborhood. Of all the places to go for coffee and café-style food. They are the best. Their prices are very reasonable and their breakfast calzone is killer!!!

Ah, so disappointing! I had high expectations since TwoFish is only open M-F and for limited hours, so I figured their baked goods must be spectacular. Since I was actually up in SF on a weekday, I decided to swing by, and tried: –Chocolate Chip Cookie($ 2.50, ): Eh, I wasn’t impressed. However, I prefer chewy cookies over crispy, but as far as crispy cookies go, this one was just alright, and nothing special. Skip! –Slice of Lemon Bundt Cake($ 3.75, ): Also just so-so, and too tart for my liking. This cake was also really dense– skip! There was a short line around 1:30pm on a Friday, but it moved pretty quickly. I liked that they had a sample for you to try, but I was bummed(although not surprised) they had already sold out of their much raved about sticky buns. It would be nice if they just baked more per day so that people who stop by later on(like I did) aren’t stuck purchasing other baked goods that they don’t really want to get. Based on what I had this time around, I doubt I will be back. Parking in this area is also horrible since there isn’t much street parking available nearby, and anything that you find will likely be metered.

While taking our dog out for a walk we ended up wandering down random SoMa alleys and decided to stop at TwoFish bake shop to pick up some pastries for home. The shop itself is pretty basic, although the employees are very friendly. When I got there the pickings were slim but there were still enough items available for us to try an assortment of baked goods. All total we took home the following: A piece of lemon cake — 3⁄5 — The lemon cake was decent enough but didn’t really stand out in any way. A piece of apple walnut cake — 4⁄5 — By far the best item of the lot, this had a nice crust on top, a moist center and a layer in the middle with spiced apple slices. I liked this quite a bit. Chocolate chip cookie and an oatmeal raisin fruit cookie — 2⁄5 — Both of these were too dry and tough to eat and neither had a flavor which stood out enough to make up for it. A macaroon — 1⁄5 — This was the least impressive macaroon I’ve had in recent memory. The flavor hardly came out of the coconut and the chocolate was just layered on the bottom and overpowering. Dog treat — ?/5 — I was hoping this would be the winner but even Yoshi didn’t get all that excited about it. He did end up eating it but not nearly as quickly as he usually reacts to other treats. Overall, despite welcoming and friendly service and decent cake, there were too many misses to want to make a return visit. For a bakery, «I’ve experienced better.»

The women working here are so sweet and inviting. Two fish has a great selection of baked goodies, calzones, salads, coffee, and parfaits. All of which taste AMAZING. Not to mention that they have dog treats for $ 0.50 each and they’re pretty big. The calzones are delicious, no matter what you get, the baked goods are nice and soft(i’ve had the macaroons and that chocolate cookie that feels like a brownie but its a cookie), and the parfait. :) (And I really really like the coffee at this shop a lot more than other coffee places I go to).

Ugh it’s so good, so so good. I’m not a huge sweets person but a few things do get me. Lemon baked treats and pumpkin baked treats. They have the best lemon bundt cake ever, so fluffy, lemony, and dusted with powder sugar, the texture is to die-for. I don’t even like angel food cake, but theirs is so airy and light that it just might convert you. And probably other things, but I have to refrain from getting them. The people who work there really love their product and really want to get to know the customers. It’s tucked away on Ritch next to the ever-popular Darwin Café. Their treats come out on a rotating basis and they only bake a few batches a day so there’s a good chance that you might miss some things when you go, just FYI. The ladies keep giving me samples, and by samples I mean at least half a slice of cake, to entice me, and it works every time. Their coffee is divine as well. They come up with fun seasonal treats, but my honorable mention goes to the house-brewed cold brew. SOGOOD, without any acidity and sourness, just the way I like it.

I’d heard great things, but I have to admit when I walked in, things didn’t look too promising, despite the warm welcome from the three employees. There weren’t tons of baked goods left in the mid-afternoon, and everything was covered with saran wrap, which I find a bit unappealing. But I forged ahead and ordered a sticky bun and tea cookie. They offered to heat the sticky bun, which sounded like an excellent idea, and put it in the oven for a couple of minutes. It was fantastic! The best sticky bun I’ve had in years, if not ever. The dough seemed to be a perfect brioche, and the whole concoction was not too sweet.

Amaze-balls. Came here wanting breakfast before my yoga class. I initially walked to The Butler and The Chef, but they weren’t open, even though they had an 8am open time. It was 8:30. So I walked down a bit. So, Two Fish has only a few hot options and they’re breakfast calzones. I’ve had a few calzones at Italian restaurants before, and all I ever remember is all the doughy parts(not always a good thing.) BUT, this breakfast calzone was amazing! Sweet Italian sausage, egg, and melty-gooey cheese in a thin crusty pocket. Yum! The two girls here are very friendly too. Downside, no place to sit except on the beautiful wood bench outside their tiny store.

Meh. Two bustling hipsters working the place, the Arctic Monkeys blaring in the background, a line of hipster-patrons checking their phones, stark white decoration, shelf of sweet-tooth pastry with gross fruit-flies buzzing around, friendly –but– glacial service. In other words, a totally generic Bay Area coffee shop. I ordered a veggie calzone and they gave me something with sausage. But hey, at least they managed to find the one bland breakfast sausage on Earth… The Americano was respectable. Darwin & Epicentre are better.

After being told that the chai latte was the best chai latte ever(even after being a frequent customer at the Chai Cart), I asked my boss if we could have our 1:1 meeting here. I want to say more. I really do. But all there is to say is that the chai latte was not hyped at all. It was easily the most perfect chai latte I’ve ever had, to the point where I’m glad that work is only a couple of blocks away. Okay, yeah, obviously I go to work in order to work, but now I go to work in order to get the best chai latte ever. So, so creamy. Drinking it is like adding happiness points to your soul. I also picked up some Russian tea cakes for tea time at work, which were delicious. Based on previous reviews, it sounds like I’ll have to stop by really early to get one of these coveted baked goods. Even if I miss out, though, there’s always the chai.

Incredible food, but they sell out fast! I love this place but have to wonder why they don’t make more food each day. For example, Unilocalers love their sticky bun, so I asked how many they bake a day. The answer was six. A day. Sometimes they make 12! No wonder they sell out of everything. In order to get a calzone for lunch, I actually had to reserve it that morning. Woe to the unfortunate diner who wanders in at actual lunch time: I saw one person enter and they said«we just have one Greek salad» so they turned around and left.

My co-workers kept talking about this bakery that opened near our work, and I’m glad I finally got to check it out! Although I was drooling when I saw all the sweets, I was at TwoFish Baking Company for their calzones. The Italian Calzone was the only one that had meat, and it was delicious! We were also able to try the Veggie Calzone which was equally heavenly.(You know what I’m getting next time!) Calzones are $ 11 – 12, but they’re big enough to split into two meals. The ladies working here are all so smiley and cheerful. Food really does taste better when it’s made with love and happiness, huh? :)

A cute bakery that has the sweet smell of fresh baked goods wafting out of their door when I passed by. I literally had to put the brakes on when i oriented around to see where the smells originated from. Although I was tempted to buy a lot of stuff, I limited myself to buy one poppyseed scone. They graciously even heated it for me as well. They really don’t have much signage from the sidewalk or the adjoining streets so I’m hoping that they can invest in some signs to put out there. Until then, I’ll be back to try something else on my morning walk to work.

This place opened up right behind our office, and I gotta say, pretty good! The staff here is very friendly, and there are almost always free samples. I got a latte here with almond milk and it was good, though a little lukewarm. I tried a sample of their sticky bun and OMG it was amazing. Came here for lunch after the line at Darwin became unbearable. Left with a veggie calzone which was tasty. I’m not really a calzone person to begin with, but it had plenty of cheese and roasty veggies. They are huge though, so I’d probably split one if you’re not used to eating a big lunch. I’ll definitely be a regular here.

They’d been open less than half an hour in their new SF location, and are already hitting on all cylinders. The sticky bun is indescribably delicious — of course it’s very sweet but the nuts smooth out the sweetness and somehow they’re umami and you really should just try it. It’s enormous, so you can save a piece for dessert later if it’s too much for breakfast. The scone had a perfect crumb and the coffee cake was moist and delicious… I will definitely be back — and looking forward to trying the savory items for lunch(calzone anyone??)

Just walking down my favorite alley in Soma on my way to Darwin Café and low and behold a new bakery and coffee store called Twofish. Curiosity hit so a strolled inside and that’s when the chocolate dipped macaroons caught my attention. I’m a bit of a sucker for those, and I love supporting new small businesses so I grabbed them. I guess my only problem now is consumption control as these are the best I’ve had in a long time. The macaroon part is great, but the best part is the slight crisp texture where the golden coconut ends and the chocolate begins. Heavens. I ought to share with my workmates, but maybe the next batch :) Looking forward to trying their macchiato…
