Topango Segura Bodywork

I haven’t worked with Topango, but got an odd email just now from a mutual acquaintance. Not sure if this is legitimate or not, but thought I’d notify community just in case:

Topango is a wizard. Magic hands. He was also very flexible with my schedule and has a nice place of business that is very calming and well appointed. The spa product he uses are top quality.

Okay. First off this is my first Unilocal review ever. So I hope this speaks volumes to what I’m about to write.
I’m a bodyworker myself and usually don’t want to pay for it. Unfortunately, I’d jacked my back and was in need for some serious bodywork. My good friend Sarah, who had just gone to see Topango, told me of him. The price was right and he lives in my neighborhood. I was on his table that day. Now for the goods…
His home studio is completely relaxing. He was present with me for the whole journey. I am entirely impressed with his knowledge of touch. My rhomboids and traps are always full of knots. I’ve just kinda accepted them into my being and that was that. I seriously don’t know how the hell he did it. His mixture of pressure points/​deep tissue and just being in tune with what my body was doing. He unravelled my knots!!! He was in step with my breathing and I felt like he was reading my muscles with such skill. My whole self felt this peace and rejuvenation after the session was done that I felt carried with me for the whole week. I felt like I was an inch taller and my feet were more grounded. That session went well beyond the constrants of that massage table! Amazing!

I have been receiving body work from Topango consistently for the past 6 months. His work is spot on. He targets specific areas of need on my body. From our first session I knew it was a much different massage experience. As a hairdresser I am on my feet and arms are raised a lot of the week, which over time has created chronic pain in my back, shoulders and neck. I not only have relief after our work together but the pain has lessened over time which in my book gives Topango the title «healer»! Not only is his work great, his energy and spirit are sweet and caring. All the things I need as I continue to seek better health.

After years of paying for massages to no avail to help with my carpal tunnel, I finally decided to go a different route a seek the advice of a holistic health practitioner. A friend of mine introduced me to Topango and we talked on the phone about my symptoms as well as my diet, exercise, and my long term health goals. He seemed very friendly and knowledgable, so I booked an appointment. His home studio was very clean and comfortable. He had some notes that he took while we were on the phone, so we went over my symptoms again briefly and then he got right to work. He used the right amount of pressure, but checked in with me to see if it was too much or not enough, which I really appreciated. The session was supposed to be an hour, but he ended up working on me for about 10 or 15 minutes longer, which was a first! Afterwards, he gave me some «homework» to do to help with the healing process. I really liked Topango’s energy. I found the whole experience to be refreshing and more personal to deal with someone one on one rather than going to a spa. I will definitely be back!

Topango healed me! I pinched a nerve or something while delivering my daughter in April and my right hand was pins and needle-​y for weeks. Finally my husband urged me to seek help, then I found Topango and I explained to him what was going on. He was able to figure out from where my issue was stemming and worked out my shoulder drama and eased my broken, post natal body. He is amazing, impressively knowledgeable about the human body and how to trigger healing.
After one session, my hand was back to normal. I was so thoroughly impressed by Topango’s technique that I continued to seek his help in alleviating some chronic back pain that I’ve had for years. It is so great to finally feel pain free when I once thought that a person just racks up a certain amount of pain with age.
His sessions are more than a massage, which only feels nice during. After visiting Topango, I feel like I’ve had body work done for days afterwards.
Also I’d like to say that I was nervous about having a male practitioner, I have only women doctors etc. But he takes what he does seriously and is very professional. I feel completely comfortable with him and have referred many women from my «Mommies Group.» All the ladies love him and everyone comes back and thanks me for putting them in contact with Topango. For a guy, he sure knows a lot about the post natal body! Oh! and he also gave me some tips on baby massage! He is amazing!

I went to Topango for work on an upper back problem I had had for a couple years. I was in chronic pain from using muscles inappropriately to compensate from having had a paralysis of a muscle a few years earlier. After a couple sessions with him, the chronic tension and spasm began to soften, and somewhere around 3 – 5 sessions later, the pain went away completely. Topango analyzed my situation carefully, and used a broad array of skills and techniques to put together a combination of deep tissue, trigger point, and other therapy. He approached the problem from a whole-​body perspective, taking into account body mechanics, etc, (for example, addressing how tension in chest and low back muscles contributed to pain in my upper back). He is able to intuit things – his hands are diagnostic before they are therapeutic – and has a rare combination of technical expertise and incredible energy. His touch makes the difference between technically good bodywork and therapy that takes it to another level. You feel the intelligence, compassion, and professionalism in his work. I’m usually pretty cynical, but Topango has some kind of gift that is very real, and extends to soul as well as body, and in that sense is genuinely holistic. His therapy has actually changed the way my body is moving and working. Go see this guy — he’s the real deal.
