Tibor Szabo Photography

I had the pleasure of meeting Tibor at a social gathering. We talked for over an hour before it turned out we have a common passion: dance. I grew up studying ballet and classical piano. Later I started dancing modern works but strangely I never have any formal photographs taken. When Tibor showed me his work I was absolutely floored. Very unique and soulful. Since that we had 3 photoshoots. They were all incredibly enjoyable and inspiring. I have given my closest relatives prints as Christmas gifts and they all loved them. I highly recommend him as an artist, friend and human being.

Me and my husband hired Tibor, when I was pregnant with my first child. He was remarkably sensitive to my condition , very fast and accommodating. The shoot lasted only an hour and we received 15 edited photos within 3 days. I was very happy to tip him and we plan on shooting again when my daughter is a little older.

I worked with Tibor as. Model several times. The sessions were always professional and the end result was very artistic. Tibor has a very unique style and I am honored to work with him.

I considered hiring Tibor as a photographer for a Muay Thai photography project, but found him terribly lacking in professionalism. Based on my brief experience, I would not recommend him.
After one relatively pleasant meeting with Tibor where we discussed shooting together, he followed up with me on Facebook; I thanked him and said I would let him know when I was ready to book something. He replied that he’d like to take «some high heels feminine shots too if that’s agreeable.»
That wasn’t what I was seeking and dissuaded me from wanting to hire him, but to be polite said I would get back to him when I wanted pictures. He followed up on Facebook several times, asking if I still wanted to do photos or have a drink to discuss the shoot; again, out of politeness, I said I would let him know if I wanted photos.
Tibor messaged me yesterday that he was interested in moving into my house (in response to a post that I have an extra room for rent). I was only a prospective photography client and found this weird, but to be polite I said I thought I rented it out but would let him know if anything changed. He messaged me again asking when I’d have an answer for him, and then a few hours later said «Best wishes I have really good instincts. More than enough time was given for considering. Cheers. Good luck fighting the neighbors» (he knew I had been violently mugged in my neighborhood in West Oakland recently).
I believe he misunderstood that I was considering him strictly as a photographer, and took my decision not to hire (or socialize with) him poorly. So while I can’t speak to his skills as a photographer, I wouldn’t recommend working with him based on his bizarre online communications with me.
I Googled his name after this, and encourage other women to read this article if they’re considering hiring him:
I can’t verify all of the information in the article, but if even a quarter of what it says is true (multiple restraining orders, felony domestic violence charges, over a dozen lawsuits, sexual assault accusations), he may not be a safe person to be alone with during a photoshoot (particularly one of the «high heels feminine» nature). I certainly wasn’t impressed with his digital communication and am thankful I didn’t end up getting hurt.

Tibor Szabo is an INCREDIBLE photographer, artist, and supporter of the Arts. He is always a great addition to any party, art exhibit, wedding, or event. He has a very unique eye, is flexible, creative and talented. I always refer him to anyone who needs an excellent photographer.
We had him as our photographer on our 5 week Wagon Tour with a beautifully handmade Vardo, Middle Eastern and Roma musicians and dancers, at a campground in Olema, CA.
He helped capture wonderful moments, and created some great shots that are memorable and timeless.

Tibor Szabo is such a fantastic artist and photographer. We worked together for a project in the Presidio and he was able to find and create the perfect image. He has become a dear friend of mine and I look forward to working on future projects with him!
