Theodore Uyemoto, DDS

I love going to Dr. Uyemoto’s, though he will be the first to tell me that I don’t go as often as I should. Yes, I know, I stretch it from 6 to 8, maybe 9 months between visits. He’s been my husband’s dentist for decades, and now my dentist for quite a while. I love that I don’t have a separate dental hygienist doing work on me and the dentist comes in just to do the heavy work. He takes care of you completely.
Also great that I can talk playing softball with him (or he can talk to me while I’m going «aaahhhhhhhh»). Real nice guy, down to earth, and great sense of humor. And you never have to wait or take long for your appointment. Don’t be late — he’s one of those that likes to stay on schedule, a big plus to me.
Real nice, no frills place to go. Great service.

I love Dr. Uyemoto for 3 reasons:
1. He remembers every story I’ve ever told him
2. He’s never told me to spend $ 500 for a mouth guard
3. He’s a great dentist.
when you walk into his office it definitely isn’t the swankiest place you’ll visit but that’s why I like it. I was once wooed by dentist offices that had cameras so you could watch the dentist drilling into your teeth. But I soon realized that all that equipment came with a price. I was told I MAY have 2 cavities and that I needed a mouth guard because I MAY be grinding my teeth. I quickly switched to Dr. Uyemoto on a recommendation where he took xrays and found nothing wrong. He has never tried to sell me on anything outside of my usual cleaning. If i have a cavity, he fixes it.
Basically, he cleans my teeth without upselling me on a bunch of unecessary procedures. Plus how can you not love a dentist that remembers your dog’s name and breed as well as ALL the neighborhoods in SF that I’ve lived in?

Been going to Dr. Uyemoto since I was a kid. I still drive to SF to see him. He’s honest, straight-​forward, and real. I am also in and out of there in less than 20 minutes — never had to wait.
