Having been to The Yard a few times since opening weekend I would say that it’s a great idea, a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and largely well executed. Game days always provide more of a scene, though a sunny weekend day can create a crowd as well. Although 4505 Meats was supposed to anchor the establishment, The Whole Beast makes some great food. My only gripes are that 1) There are no heaters in the beer garden area. Supposedly they will be providing blankets soon due to the regulations around space heaters(I have no clue what regulations govern space heaters, but this is SF…) — bottom line, make sure you dress appropriately. 2) The alcohol entrance, exit situation is a bit odd. If you purchase alcohol from Anchor in the beer garden, you cannot move over to the food truck area, and vice versa. This is pretty lame since you can generally purchase both wine and beer from at least one of the food trucks. 3) Prices for Anchor and The Whole Beast aren’t outrageous, but you’re not going to get a deal. For an area that’s built out of shipping containers and doesn’t have much infrastructure to it, prices are higher than expected. There are more pros than I can list in this review but in short on a beautiful day, there’s no better place to pre-game, great food from the Whole Best(the lamb gyro will blow your mind). And games like corn hole are a fun new addition. Overall, the Yard is a fun spot with great food and beer… and a fickle vibe.

Pretty cool and fun outdoor atmosphere where you can grab coffee from Peet’s, beer, snacks and even do little shopping. I like the view of AT&T park which is less than a block away. The view of the water is great where you can see boat pass by or even park for the game. In terms of traffic it gets busy, so time yourself carefully. The food and drinks are great with a place to seat or catch up on a sport event! I would recommend this place a hang out for people!

A semi-permanent food truck set up in the AT&T parking lots(3rd and Francois) in the Mission Bay area. There’s a Peet’s coffee, a burger joint, and a place where you can get beers, surrounding a covered area of tables, plus seating outside. A farmer’s market shows up on Sundays directly outside in the parking lots, and then a little further away, are the Big Top tents of the transitionary show, Cavalia. Food is pricey, and their specials sell out quickly. But given that you don’t have much choice in this area, it isn’t bad!

Great beer, great grub. Polite staff. Have to mention that because in SF because you usually get the feeling that you should be honored to dine at most establishments. #dropthehipstertude Recommended for particularly easy like Sunday mornings. Enjoy!

I know we were all worried that this was just going to be taking up ample tailgating space, but The Yard is definitely worth a try! Walk along the 3rd street bridge from the Lefty O’Doul gate of AT&T park, and cross the street. Voila! Food trucks and shops! There’s a Northface offering bright orange stock, an upscale souvenir shop, ice cream pitstop, a Peet’s Coffee, and from what I can tell, three different food trucks that sometimes rotate. Recently I’ve noticed the same three, The Courtyard by Off the Grid, Proposition Chicken, and Señor Sisig. I tried the potato wedges from the Off the Grid Seafood truck, and they were delicious. Very thin crispy sliced potatoes with a garlic lime kick to them, served with tantalizing garlic aioli on the side. The hot sauce bar was a nice touch. The other awesome thing about the Yard is that it offers plenty of space for eating and chilling before and after the ballgame, and just across the way is one of the best places to take pictures of AT&T park itself. You should walk down the waterfront a bit so you can get the whole park in the shot. Awesome spot to watch boats, hang out, exercise, eat food, and chill with the best fans in baseball.

Beautiful outdoor area with delicious beers(albeit a little pricey) and amazing food options. Came here for a farmer’s market, stayed for the food and ambiance! Get the Orange Splash beer — it’s a delicious, light, refreshing amber. The Whole Beast offers a ton of bbq/meaty food options. We got the lamb poutine and the chicken wings. Don’t be fooled by how wimpy those wings look… they definitely pack a ton of flavor in a small bite! The poutine was absolutely DELICIOUS. It’s not quite your traditional poutine, with a creamier gravy and cheese curds, but was more meaty and lamby in flavor. So bomb, but will knock you out for the rest of the afternoon. Definitely my new go-to prior to Giants games… next year!

I had two reasons to go here this past week and enjoyed both. 1. Cubs vs Giants game(shh…I’m from Chicago so… we lost anyways, get off my case already) 2. Networking event. Love the food truck options. Lots of options. Their sangria is pretty delicious on a hot day and not so much on a cold, Karl-y night. They have dog-friendly events from time-to-time here too. That’s next on my list of fun-pup things to do in SF!

Great location only 3 mins walk from my office. This is awesome for after-work happy hour gathering. When the weather is nice(which is usually the case for this part of town), it’s very pleasant to sit outside, enjoying drinks and snacks. The wine/beer truck is really cool with the tap right on the side of the truck. They also have good shrimp and good potato wedges. Humphrey ice cream is also there. Overall, it seems like the food is just ok, it’s the super casual, comfortable atmosphere that made it pleasant. I’m sure my coworkers will come here more and more and I’m looking forward to it. It does get a bit chilly because it’s out in the open(next to the canal, and next to parking lots). So bring a jacket.

I wrote my review on 6÷14÷2015, so I am not sure why the prompt continually pops up on my home page to write my review for the Yard. Please remove this prompt or let me know how to remove it. Thank you.

Plenty of seating for large groups +1 Free water dispensing area +1 Right next to the ballpark +1 Dog friendly +1 Great variety of food options +1 Expensive –1 Poutine — fries were seasoned well and cooked right, lamb meat was tender and flavorful; together they married really well and can safely say its the best version of poutine I have had so far in SF Overall Thoughts A fantastic spot to hangout before heading over to AT&T park

I think we can all agree that the area needed something like this. What a great freaking addition to the area. You’re pretty much going from a small little unassuming strip of parking lot, to an outdoor beer garden with food trucks. What’s there not to love about it? First off, way to show some local pride here. You’ve got Anchor Steam Brewery hitting a home run by putting in an outdoor beer garden in basically the perfect spot. This is going to sound super San Franciscian, but The Yard somewhat eliminates the need to tailgate at ATT Park. I mean, why not just hop on over and get some beer and food before the game? The food trucks are most likely going to rotate in and out, so don’t trust that one truck is going to be here reliably. Always best to check the trucks social media account to see where they’re gonna be at for the day instead of blaming it on The Yard. Also, why are we talking about the food from the food trucks on this page? Save it for the specific food trucks Unilocal pages right? The one random thing though is the little pop up North Face shop that they’ve got here. Seems like such a random spot to have a store. Could have just had it be yet another permanent restaurant but nope, North Face it is. Anyways, for me it’s a welcome addition to the area. The area surrounding ATT Park on that side has always been severely lacking in things to do, so it’s good seeing something like The Yard pop up!

Right across AT&T Park. Huge parking structure Beer Garden Food trucks Great place to hang out until 9pm. Get a little windy here so bring a jacket. Food trucks: Proposition Chicken, Señor Sisig, Humphrey Ice Cream and another beer tap truck. Señor Sisig is a must-try!!! We got the Señor Sisig burrito and it was delicious! It came with adobo garlic rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo and cilantro cream sauce. You have a choice of pork, chicken or tofu. The pork they used was perfectly flavored! They also had sisig fries, tacos, nachos and even tapsilog burrito, but that’s for next time: D Check The Yard if you’re around the area, they’re open 7 days a week!

It sounds like such a great idea doesn’t it. A pop up-esque beer garden with food trucks under whatever much SF sunshine we can get with views of AT&T Park. All up though, you’ll get better elsewhere. The long benches are good for larger groups if you can grab them. A whole bunch from work had lunch here one sunny afternoon. Anchoring the beer garden is the Anchor Brewing Company with a wide selection of brews. At $ 7 a pop, it’s a little more than usual but totally worth it for smaller batch brews like their IPA. I had the fishwhich from Whole Beast and I appreciated the crispy batter on the fresh ling cod. It’s paired with a simple combination of tartar sauce, lettuce and red onion but didn’t appreciate the bun it was served in that didn’t hold up well. Decent fish sandwich overall but overpriced $ 15 tax and tip later. Sage fries are an additional $ 6 and they are abrasively overly-salted. There was plenty left on our table. The wait for the food can be a little long. The one food runner was overwhelmed and food orders were lost. My friend’s burger and(over salted) fries didn’t make the table till most of us were half done even though she ordered before me. Lunch with beers will easily run you over an overpriced $ 30 and for that, you can do a lot better than flyaway paper plates.

Being a huge bbq snobidoo, I was very pleasantly surprised by the St. Louis style bbq ribs from the Anchor Beer Garden at The Yard. The guy from the kitchen said I wouldn’t be disappointed upon ordering, and I snickered to myself ok silly boy such audacious words in front of a bbq conniseuor queen. …as the sweet-bbq-marinated meat fell off the ribs, so did my pants. Food: — Highly recommend the STL style bbq ribs with potato salad(equally delicious with good chew on the potato wedges) from Anchor Beer Garden, pass on the poutine unless you are game with bitterly gamey lamb Setting: — Medium sized space at the Yard and the beer garden with enough patio seating — Generally windly and chilly by the water so don’t come in a hoochie dress — Few selections of food and drinks(proposition chicken, senior sisig, limited selection humphrey slocombe stand, anchor brewing co), but enough oomph in diversity and quality for a casual hangout setting — You can borrow equipment from the beer garden to play cornhole — Diva approved upscale porta potties

The Yard is great — a hybrid of Hayes Valley’s Biergarten and Off The Grid! Lots of great restaurants, including: – Señor Sisig – Humphry Slocomb – Proposition Chicken – Peet’s Coffee – The Courtyard – Anchor Brewing – Seoul Taipei – Bacon Bacon Lots of outdoor seating, beer and food. And clean bathrooms with flushing toilets and sinks :) I’m glad that the Giants are finally repaying their debt to the neighborhood and giving us something useful other than traffic :)

Came here for the beer garden and general promise of a new, lively spot by the Bay. I’ve been to breweries, bars, and beer gardens and lemme tell ya: The Yard is exactly what you are looking for. Breezes, blue skies, beers, and bunches of businesses to satisfy any mood you find yourself in, this spot will be your go-to for fun in the sun in this part of town. The Venue Effectively a hub of desirable businesses threaded around ample seating and ideal weather, The Yard is a place for many people to enjoy all things legit: food & brews(coffee and/or otherwise). It basically seems like a property owner took their lot and was like«Hmm I could open a bait and tackle shop OR I could build out a mini-hub of local food and drink» and chose VERY wisely. Expect to find a rally of businesses representing their local flavor in a stunning location with a limited version of whatever you might find at their core locales. The Vibe I love places like this, especially for popular spots looking to reach other areas of town. Sometimes you cannot trek all the way downtown to sip the new brews, so The Yard gives you a space to host that limited audience. Sometimes you cannot even afford a building to cook in San Fran, so there’s a part of the lot for those businesses too. Everyone is pumped to see THEIR favorite local spot represented here and happy about the others that also make it, so the excitement is ample. It’s casual food/drink enthusiasm at its finest! Final Thoughts Parking will be fine but this is definitely more of a diversion than a destination. A business you love might be here, the weather will likely be «sunny side up», and the people will be plenty pleasant if you find yourself this side of the Bay side!

A friend and I decided to check out The Yard after hearing so many good things about it. The environment on a Wednesday night was great, but all we could imagine was how crazy it would be during a Giants game. The view of AT&T park is amazing! Trying to find a spot was a little difficult. It was constantly packed but I noticed people coming and going so it was a big issue. Beers: Anchor Steam, I had the Flying Cloud stout and the wheat. Both were deliciously cold and refreshing. Food: There is a food truck right at the location that sells BBQ, but I noticed a lot of people bringing food from around the corner food trucks. We ordered the Turkey club and the Wagu burger and poutine fries which were amazing! Totally coming back! It currently has a temporary permit so it closed at 8pm, but when it’s official they said it will be open until 11pm. Bathrooms are really nice and clean potto potties, so that added to my experience.

Who’s gonna argue with temporarily repurposing an empty parking lot into the love child of Hayes Valley’s Biergarten and the SoMa Streat Food Park? Hey, I’m asking you a question, Boo Boo Kitty. Buh-buh-buh-buh… oh, now you don’t speak English? Bye Felicia… sorry, I was just channeling my inner Cookie. When the hell does Season 2 of «Empire» start anyway? Ah, but I digress. Jamie W. and I came here this past Sunday to check out what’s with the what-what right across the Lefty O’Doul Bridge from AT&T Park. What we initially saw were several converted shipping containers, a couple doubling as retail stores, a North Face outlet and a SF Made store selling locally made wares(photo: ). Then we noticed a couple of food trucks — Proposition Chicken and Señor Sisig — both of which I’ve tried before to mixed results; a slightly more permanent-looking Peet’s Coffee stand(photo: ); and a Humphry Slocombe cart. A marginally disappointing collection on first blush, I must admit, but I did end up getting the $ 11.75 Kale Salad with the Flipped Chicken, which turned out to be quite tasty if rather overpriced for the quantity(photo: ). Jamie went for the California Sisig Burrito which he found enormous but disappointing in the way the rice was used as a filler. Finding seats was more of a challenge since tables were at a premium with young parents armed with baby strollers doubling as battering rams staking tables and chairs out like it was the Oklahoma Land Rush. Not a pretty picture. As we strolled around the corner, we noticed bleacher seating and parklets with built-in benches, all of which gratefully offer alternative seating(photo: ). Finally we came upon the enclosed beer garden where they served up $ 7 cups of Anchor Steam(photo: ). We didn’t realize there was a barbecue option as The Whole Beast has a kiosk with a limited menu of brisket, ribs and pulled pork(courtesy of their smoker), as well as burgers and gyros. They were already out of half the menu by 1PM. Apparently they were a last-minute substitute for 4505 Meats, which is like getting tickets to see Meryl Streep playing«Hedda Gabler» only to discover the role would be played by Jo Anne Worley. The beer has to be downed in the garden and not outside, and we presumed our Diet Cokes would not be welcome inside. If you come by on a cool evening, be forewarned that they couldn’t install heat lamps, but Anchor is considering renting blankets on such occasions. Renting? Sheesh. One plus that Sunday was live music on the food park side. If you accept that The Yard is currently in a gestation period, it makes for a worthwhile stop if you have little expectation and a certain amount of flexibility about what food you may find. They are planning to bring in more food trucks on game days and a farmers’ market on Saturday mornings, so we’ll see if the vibe changes for the better. Right now it still feels a bit more focused on more upscale tastes with an air of entitlement. As Cookie says, the streets ain’t for everybody. That’s why they built street food parks. Or at least that’s what I think she said, Boo Boo Kitty. Bye Felicia! FOOD — 3 stars… I thought the kale salad was good but somewhat overpriced, curious to see if I will feel the same way about the barbecue when I try it AMBIANCE — 3.5 stars… nice use of shipment containers but could benefit from a more diverse collection of food and customers SERVICE — 3.5 stars… if the Proposition Chicken truck service is any indication, they are hungry for your business TOTAL — 3 stars… a ‘wait and see’ mode for me, plenty of potential but I’d like to see what it feels like when it’s more complete

Overpriced beer, good eats, good beats, beautiful view. Biased post because this is across the street from work. Some may call it the Yard but I still park my car here.
