When I saw all the high ratings I was perplexed because there was no way… Then I read Raghav’s review and I think his observations of the other reviewers are well worth noting… We made a special trip to see this show, a long drive and all… Well the one thing is it is cheaper than punchline and cobbs but at those places the show actually gets started(I mean somebody actually goes on stage… At least to say there is a delay or something)… Nope you pay your cover there’s a few other customers there but they appear to just be regulars at the bar and then an empty stage… By the bar there’s a guy occasionally tinkering with the sound system. To sum it up, it was similar to when I was little and staged my own talent show with my cousin and neighbor… Except we actually got on stage(and performed) around the time we told our audience… When we asked when the show would start the guy answered 8 and it was 8:05 and we had another round of drinks and waited and still nothing so we just left. I haven’t been to this event for almost a year… but I used to go back when I lived in SF. The comics were always pretty diverse. so even if you for some reason didn’t fancy one, the next would be totally different. Paco’s style of hosting is awesome… by awesome I mean he does ‘awkward’ almost as well as Michael Cera. I love the venue, and its menu cheap booze, people that shmooze, clean toilet, i don’t wanna spoil it. check it out for yourself, and put yo attitude on the shelf. shiiiiat, no wonder i don’t get paid to rap.

So many comedy clubs in the area fill with tourists and choad(sp?) bags who pay $ 25+ to laugh at something… ANYTHING. At the Romane Event people laugh if the act is funny. How refreshing! A lovely, intimate space. A great night out.

Paco consistently puts together a great line-up for his monthly event. Both times I have been the comedians had me rolling, some on the verge of tears. Last night was great, I thought every comic did a really good job, and the headliner killed it. A great way to spend a Wednesday night and worth every penny of the $ 6 door cover. Get your ass down to the Romane event every last Wednesday of the month and then prepare to have it laughed off. Good times.

I really question the reviews before me. Most reviewers have only one review(this one) and at least two of them are comics themselves. It seems like they are friends of «Romane» and are just trying to promote this event. I just want readers to be cautious of the fact when they read the review. I am not saying this event isn’t good. But the 5 stars may not reflect everything it should. In any case. I went to the show yesterday, and it was«okay». The comics were«okay» and were funnier because of the alcohol. The headliner I have to admit though was awesome. She was really funny, but that was 20 mins of a 2 hour show. Pros: Cheap drinks. $ 5 pitcher(watery beer), $ 3 all other drinks; good people — the host came around and thanked everyone personally for coming out; pretty large group of people for a Wednesday night; nice bar; flexible seating — chairs, couches, bar stools Cons: Comics were okay — I have seen much better… for a monthly event they can definitely do better. They were not boring with awkward silences, but they made us chuckle more than laugh out loud.

If you laugh at his jokes, Paco will take you home, bathe you, feed you from his giving bossoms, then tuck you into bed with a cool glass of water on the nightstand. He will then proceed to stand over you will you sleep, his unblinking eyes never leaving you, his baby’s breathe keeping you warm all night. The Make-Out Room on the last Wednesday of every month is the best place to be in the galaxy beside Alpha Centauri in June. Now thats a riot!

The Romane Event(every last wed of the month) is absolutely fabulous! The Make Out Room is the perfect place for a comedy show because of the layout and the prom like décor… but the show itself is more fun than enjoying churros in a hot tub! Always always good comics and attentive audiences. Paco keeps the show rolling thru the night… plus the cocktails are delicious… thank you Paco for having me! I will always be had by the Romane Event!

The Romane Event is a blast, I went for the first time the on the 25th of Sept. and had a wonderful time. The Make Out room was a cool bar/club with a great layout. They had the stage against the back wall with booths on one wall and a handful of tables with chairs in the main part of the the bar. It was a great place to host a comedy night. The comics were great. Paco organizes the event and opens and closes the comedy night. Along with him, there were 4 other comics. Out of all of them that performed, Rachel Rockwood was the best! Her whole act was smooth and flowed from one joke to the other. She incorporated the audience and you could tell that she was comfortable with herself and her act. Rachel’s personality and character is great, not only when she is on stage, but overall. She is a wonderful and sincere person, with a great sense of humor and attitude towards life. Don’t get me wrong, the other comics had some funny jokes and performed well, but Rachel blew them away! I know I will be returning to the Romane Event for the comedy and great atmosphere and to watch Rachel Rockwood perform! I would definitely recommend this event for anyone who is looking to get out and catch some fresh comedy in the city. It is the last Wednesday of every month, so check it out when you can!

I loved this show. The Romane event has the funniest comics in SF.

The Romane Event is one of the best kept secrets that is public knowledge. These Wednesday night comedy shows happen at one of the best venues in SF!(See my review of the Make Out Room.) Paco puts a great lineup together every month(from national headliners to losers you’ve never heard of). Sometimes that lineup includes ME! I’m going to be honest with you – I am a hilarious comedienne with naturally sun-highlighted hair. I have a full schedule and get annoyed when anyone asks me to do anything. But when Paco invites me to perform at the Romane Event, I drop everything and respond with two questions: «What time, Babe?» and«What should I wear?» It’s THAT fun. Admission is only $ 6, beer pitchers are cheap, and sometimes Sal Lieberman hosts(oh my God – what a hot piece of ass!). If you don’t give the Romane Event a chance, you’re an idiot and you deserve to die alone.
