After reading about this place on Nextdoor, we thought we’d give it a shot. It’s near my part of town and we love diner food, especially breakfast. Huge disappointment due to the TINY portion; the eggs and sausage could have been served on a teacup saucer and there’d be room to spare. There are way better places in town, most notably the Manor Coffee Shop on West Portal. I haven’t tried their Vietnamese dishes, but I am leery after the experience we had with breakfast.

We found this place near our Airbnb and then noticed that it was also listed on our host’s recommended breakfast places! Double win. I had the lemon chicken with pancakes and it was delicious. It sounds weird to have it for breakfast, but i was able to polish off the entire plate, along with a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall but the staff inside are very friendly and there were a couple tables that the owners greeted by name-clearly, a very family-style diner. The prices were very reasonable as well. We would definitely return if we were staying in this area again! PS. My apologies to the owners if they’re reading this –I was trying to use up all of my American coins before returning to Canada so I practically dumped my entire wallet’s change as tip… sorry and thank you for the great meal!

Do you want brunch or do you want Vietnamese food? Can’t decide? Come here and get it both! This is a family-run diner that has a menu of American brunch food as well as Vietnamese cuisine. I got the french toast to share with friends and a imperial roll/BBQ pork combo for myself. The French toast came with slices of butter on the side and was dusted with powdered sugar. It was simply scrumptious. The BBQ pork was great but the imperial rolls were only so-so. I think this place is better for the brunch food rather than the Vietnamese food even though the owners are Vietnamese. The phở bowls are kind of small and I think it’s one size available only. They close at 4pm so no dinner service. They accept cards and would do split checks but we didn’t want to make them run several credit cards to incur whatever credit card fees there are so we only did it on one card.

I liked it! Family run, straightforward breakfast and burgers combined with a solid Asian menu as well. Friendly service, quick food, no frills. I love an egg breakfast with rice on the side instead of potatoes, and the Mayflower delivers that.

Today was the first time my husband and I visited the Mayflower on Ocean Ave. The service was great, the food was very tasty and the prices very reasonable. We would go back. I had the French Toast w/eggs and a Pork Chop. Very good. The chop had a very tasty flavor and the French toast most excellent. It is a small restaurant and a bit old but quaint. Sher V.

Kind of a hole-in-a-wall diner dive run by a family. Really needs a renovation to update the stuffy dark not-so-clean interior and run down looking exterior. They’re usually just good for breakfast and lunch as they have limited dinner operations. Serves basic diner food and some vietnamese dishes.(the vietnamese food is not that great; if you want vietnamese food go to a real vietnamese restaurant.) and don’t get the steak and eggs. Steak was really subpar in quality — more pink in color not red and didnt taste fresh. portions are on the skimpy side.

An American diner owned by an old Asian family that serves a hearty breakfast at a good value! I tried a combo plate of lemon chicken, french toast, and eggs over easy. The lemon chicken was well seasoned and had good flavor– though it could’ve been a tad more moist(but the texture was still pretty good). The french toast was also well cooked and not too heavy but easy to eat. For a protein loaded meal under $ 10 this place is a pretty good café!

I’ve eaten at this place many times. Customer service is above average. Management may want to consider remodeling the establishment. Not the cleanist restaurant as the bathroom may indicate. They need a through cleaning & stock up on some anti-bacterial soap.

I came in too try so phở after looking on Unilocal and heard they had pretty decent phở, the phone was alright I feel like they reheated the broth and gave it to me but overall it was decent. Haven’t tried the breakfast yet but it looks good, I’ll be back to try the breakfast next time.

I’m on the ropes about this restaurant. The people are very sweet, but the food is standard diner fare. It’s good, but(besides the Vietnamese food which we did not try) it’s nothing you won’t find in a chain dinner like Mel’s. Price wise, it’s also like Mel’s. I may come back to try the Vietnamese food because it looks amazing, but l think I’m going to skip it for the standard American breakfast.

Been coming here since I was eleven years old. It is just so good. The owners are also some of the sweetest people you could ever meet. The food is delish! All the years of being a customer I have only ordered the breakfast items.(the chicken apple sausage is a must)! It’s a known neighborhood gem. You always see a friendly face while in there. Good service. Great food. Two happy thumbs up!

Came here on multiple occasions for breakfast. The eggs that I ordered were b good but small. They don’t use the big eggs here. Also, the bacon here it’s wimpy. Extra crispy… more like extra burnt and without flavor. But, the sausage is decent, go figure. The pancakes have no flavor at all. Any time a place calls itself the MAYFLOWER there should be hesitation.

I’m so happy we found this place and that it is so close to our house. The owners/waitresses are so friendly and the food is good, especially the French toast. Everything is simple– the interior of the restaurant and the meals, but it makes for a perfect neighborhood breakfast spot.

Pros: –Lemongrass Chicken was delicious –French Toast was Yum –Waitresses are nice Cons: –Portions are small. Kids size-like. I was excited pancake, eggs, meat was $ 6.25, however very small portions –Egg white request came to my child’s plate drenched in whatever oil they used to cook it with — Sausage were like Jimmy Dean sausages and cooked almost burnt I came here after reading reviews of good food and large portions and such. Large portions? I do not know what they meant. It must be large portions for someone who doesn’t really eat because we are a family of 5 with 3 little kids under 9 years old and we normally share plates when we go out but this time we had to order a plate each PLUS2 extra plates. We still were not full. I really wanted to like this place but they need to up the food just so we can feel somewhat satisfied. I was telling my hubby this is a good hangover place since you can get phở weeee early along with oily breakfast food if you wish.

Best place to get grab breakfast on Ocean Avenue, I kid you not. Although a little shabby looking on the outside, I find this place to be a little gem in the neighborhood. I have been here a handful of times with different people, and each and every single one of them have all agreed that the French toast here is amazing. I always get #22– French toast, lemon grass chicken and 2 eggs any style. It is only $ 8.75, and fills me up every time. I also love the Vietnamese coffee here. I can’t vouch for any of the Vietnamese food though, since I haven’t tried any.(The french toast is such a must have!) Service is always great here, so I will keep coming back!

A small hole-in-the-wall diner located alone Ingleside. The concept of it being a traditional American breakfast house, as well as serving Vietnamese is pretty cool, if you ask me. Pros: — The waitresses are the sweetest people here. — Despite the old and somewhat gloomy interior, there’s a strange homey feeling to this place as well. — Menu has variety, but it also stays simple and doesn’t have an overcrowded menu. — Close to CCSF, Ingleside Public Library, Wholefoods Market, and Yogurtland. — Walking distance or you can take the K metro muni. — Their french toast is nommies. — Rootbeer float. Some cons: — The interior is super old. Gloomy and dimly lit. — The prices for certain things aren’t worth the price. — The portions for some dishes are less than what they’re worth. Definitely one of the spots to go to if you’re in the mood for American or Vietnamese styled breakfast.

Solid breakfast food in a very divey old-school looking spot. Has that old school diner feel to it. Not good for dates though, lol — then again Ocean Ave in general isn’t really a datesy spot. My BF used to work here about 10 years ago and claims the breakfast food is really good. I had my doubts but after taking a bite, I converted. Pretty cheap and hearty portions! Omelette — is huge and full of fillings. Phở — SKIPIT. Maybe their other Viet items are better? I’d like to return for more of the breakfast items that the BF and everyone else raves about!
