We walked over from Union Square and entered into a very relaxed atmosphere. It is decorated with lots of lab stuff. The food was good and the prices were great! The mango snow was amazing!

I heart tapas bars. Like a lot. And, this one did not disappoint. It has a ton of charm and the«lab» theme is prevalent throughout. They have a pretty extensive happy hour menu, offered daily from 4−7pm. During happy hour I had a $ 6 Spanish Tempranillo(I forget the name but I loved it) and $ 6 salmon toasts(very enjoyable). I will say that service was a little on the slower side. This didn’t bother me since I had great company and wasn’t in a hurry, but this definitely isn’t the place to go if you’re looking for a super quick drink.

Came here with a friend for happy hour on a Wednesday! Their happy hour deals run from 4 – 7, so a little later than most places in the area. The Warriors were playing, the venue was adorable, the only weird thing was the place was COMPLETELYEMPTY! My friend and I were the only people in there the entire time. The cheese platter was delicious, and the scallops were good, but they are by no means ‘jumbo’ as the menu claims. I would even go as far as calling them ‘small scallops’ — still a good deal with their happy hour though! My only gripe is that the bartender/server didn’t ask if we wanted another drink prior to HH ending, as most places typically do — when we asked for drinks at 7:03 she said they wouldn’t be at HH prices, which makes sense… but a little reminder would have been good! Especially because we were the only ones there and we were also at the bar!

The space is really well done for what it is. It’s just a little awkward layout, not that there aren’t awkward layouts in the city, but the way it’s situated you don’t really know if you will get table service or if you should order from the bar. It would probably be beneficial to have someone that can greet you and go over the menu/specials. I actually counted 9 people that walked in and out when there were seats available. Anyway once you get in and situate yourself the wine and food are great. I really wanted to give this 4 stars but I found two things lacking to get that rating: 1. It took 20 minutes to get the flight of wine, there were 12 people there… 2. Add years to ALL of the wines and the bar tenders should know a little about each one. If you are opening a wine bar in the bay area it’s almost expected that your server knows about the wines and can find a wine to your taste. As a local to this area I really want to like this place and all in all this can definitely be a 4 and maybe a 5 star place as it’s got the back bone, but it’s lacking in some areas.

This is my favorite wine bar in SF. The owner Argus is super sweet, accommodating, and goes out of his way to make sure your party is having a good time. I brought my dad here when he was visiting, and he wanted to come back every single night. The ambience is very cozy and unique. There are chalk boards everywhere & you can write stuff on the glasses with chalk! Love the idea. I love the music here too! They do a great job with the playlist. :) They have great selections of wine & they let you taste a few options if you aren’t sure. On top of that, their pricing is very reasonable! LOVE this place. Highly recommend this hidden GEM.

I really wanted to like this place. If I could give 1.5 I would, but since that’s not an option here I opted for 2 stars. My friends and I found this place on Unilocal and were eager to try it out since it had really good reviews(4.5 stars and 25 reviews) and it looked really cute from photos. We got here during happy hour and ordered — 2 fruit yogurt Sojus: came lukewarm and had to ask for it to be shaken with ice. — shochu mojito: actually really good — mimosa: basically no champagne. tasted like watered down orange juice — 2 sangrias: didn’t even finish half because it tasted like it came from a bottle of perfume — cheese plate: tiny cubes of sandwich cheese and didn’t even come on a cheeseboard. Just normal plastic wear and with crackers you can buy at Safeway — meat plate: nothing special — jumbo scallops: definitely not jumbo, lukewarm but still good — Sirloin bites: lukewarm but pretty tasty — 2 prosciutto toast bites: literally prosciutto you put in sandwiches on garlic bread –2 salmon toast bites: actually pretty yummy but still lukewarm salmon on garlic bread –spicy tiger prawn: burned but still lukewarm… — wild smoked salmon bites: smoked salmon on Safeway round crackers We asked to toasts or bread because the crackers were really underwhelming(I’ve literally bought them from Safeway before) and they came after we asked for the check… We almost got charged for a ribeye as well, even though we never ordered one. I’m quite disappointed because I was really looking forward to coming here but left hungry after spending a total of $ 133 for food I can easily replicate(with better quality) myself. To make things worse, one of our servers was kind of rude and not very accommodating. All in all, don’t come here unless you’re getting beers or wine.

Great restaurant! Awesome, eclectic environment. The owners truly embrace the lab theme(periodic table on the wall, beakers as glasses, etc…). Food is delicious, especially the bacon-rapped figs.

A cozy place to hang on a school night live music and all. I agree it’s a hidden gem. Great taste in classic movie showing. The table games are classic.

Outstanding place. Argus(owner) is super personable and really knows his wine. He also flirted with my girl in Cantonese but I let it go. Great food done simpler and well. And the periodic table on the wall made me realized how much I’ve forgotten…

Soooo cute! I adore this place and feel like if I opened a wine bar, it would look and feel like this. Lovely tapas btw especially if you’re in the game for a light dinner. The steak with salad was perfect for me and I absolutely love their malbec. The reason why I came in though is because of a blues musician they usually have performing there who you can hear from walking in the street. SOOOO talented and think they should have more live music here, for sure.

This place is so cute! I found this place while looking for tapas. The menu here is fairly small, came in for happy hour, even at $ 6 I thought it was a little pricey for two toast bites. The food though is very solid, especially loved the side salads the tapas came with! Salmon toast bites– OK. I love smoked salmon so of course I really liked this, but nothing mind blowing. Scallops — Yaaaas. Cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth. Prosciutto wrapped asparagus — also very good, but not super amazing. Overall– I really like this place for its charm and how intimate it is… If you’re looking for a solid tapas place to bring a date and not worry about having to yell over 50 other people, this is it!

Hidden little gem. Live music, mad scientist décor, board games, chalk walls, quaint seating, mason jars, and the handicap accessible moving stairway chair. Who doesn’t want to recreate the modern day scene of Up where Carl’s stair lift gets stuck, by hopping on that stairway lift, sippin a Grapefruit Sculpin and nodding the the beat of the live music while playing Jenga? It’s the perfect blend of quirky/retro atmosphere, Pinstrest décor, IPAs and live music that usually attracts the hipsters of SF. But the stars are misaligned and the wolves are howling off tone — this place is almost always void of humans! Strangely fascinating! The entirety of the place must be bathed in some type of Anti-Hipster tonic!

Über hip lab atmosphere with a great sound track and a range of seating options. Small plate menu with the best proscuttio wrapped asparagus I’ve had: crisp, savory, wonderful. Delightful staff. Beef was well prepared with a nice small salad. Seafood was good although a little heavy on the garlic. The whole experience made for a perfect dinner and place to unwind and enjoy the whole experience.

This place is 3 stars, but I’m giving it 4 for the amount of effort and care that the owner/manager seems to be putting in. They had live music playing, which is cute, and the lab theme is great. The food was a little off, for me. The smoked salmon tasted… artificial, and the seared beef was similarly grainy in taste. The shaved ice(so asian haha) was delicious though. The owner kept checking in with us to make sure we loved everything, so I think with that attitude, they will keep improving and offering a good experience!

A friend and I had time to kill before a concert at The Masonic, so fortunately we found this place that was two blocks away because we were hungry and thirsty. The actual place was really cute in a industrial and hipster kind of way – periodic table decorations on the wall, science beakers/flasks used as vases, barrels used as tables, etc. Food: We ordered the cheeseballs and crackers. One of the cheeseballs looked like it had some pieces of meat, so my friend who was vegetarian couldn’t eat it. She stuck with the cheeseball that seemed to have a hint of chocolate. Both tasted pretty good though. The cheese and cracker ratio was definitely off – I wanted more crackers lol. We also got the shrimp. It was six pieces with a side salad. The shrimp was okay. I would probably get try something else before ordering the shrimp again. Drinks: Ordered the sangria, which was the best part! Big glass and tasty fruit included. Not only did the sangria taste wonderful, the wine glasses had chalkboard material painted on, so we could draw pictures and write stuff on the glass with the chalk provided.

#tl;dr [Br]eaking [Ba]d, Bill Nye, Mr. Wizard fan décor. Live music Tuesdays. Skip the waffles. After my protégé and I outgrew working out of my RV, I wasn’t really going places. But then I met this black fried chicken dude and he totally blingblinged us with a full lab and stuff. It was pretty tight — chalkboard wall of formulas & circuits, yellow /silver /white /black everywhere, chemistry glassware, periodic table, all the trimmings. + Dope décor + Drink out of actual lab equipment + Live blues singer-guitarist + Ray Charles, Sade, James Brown, etc. -/+ Yoga chicks patrolling the block -/+ And coming in as clientele — Workers still learning the menu — Also learning the payment software — Waffles tasted gummy /eggo

We came back last weekend with a large group of friends and had a great time hanging out for a couple hours after having dinner nearby. There was plenty of comfy seating for our group of 9, and we sampled a number of different wines and small plates. So glad we came back for a longer visit since everything we tried was yummy and I didn’t even realize their soft opening menu had a second page! The highlights of the evening included: — Mas Fi Cava(perfect with the spicy salami) — Julia’s Pinot Gris Rose(feminine) — Meat & Cheese Plate(all the meats were great) — Mango Snow(non-alcoholic, smooth and creamy) — Hard Snow(alcoholic with a hint of orange liquor) Next time, I want to try more of their small plates, especially since I hear they have wagyu now! Mmm…

Very cool spot! Previous people already mentioned the hip /tech themed décor so go check out the pictures. Great beer and wine selection with 90+ points beers and they even have their own wine label! I recommend their Napaology 100% Cabernet Franc which is hard to find without being blended into Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. This particular one was fruity, full body, without being dry. I saw other people ordering non-alcoholic cocktails that serves out of a beaker and that looked pretty cool if that’s your thing. Here’s another secret: If you want a place that is not over crowded when your favorite game is on, I would recommend this place while it’s still hidden! LOL
