Staff was friendly, but the food was incredibly bland. The carne asada was gray? The food is also overpriced — basically not worth it. They also decided to clean the floors during business hours so it was pretty awful trying to eat their mediocre Mexican food with the smell of bleach and other cleaning supplies. Wouldn’t come back.

Really nice ladies that work there. The food is mediocre and bland. No flavor! I don’t know why the Al Pastor meat is so sweat and gross. Taste sort of like tinga, which some of you never had before lol. Chorizo was too salty and tasted weird. Only thing decent here is the nachos and crispy chicken tacos. Their salsa game is weak

This is a review for mainly for their catering and delivery services. The food is great, so lets just get that out of the way. No complaints and the food tastes fresh and yummy every time. For catering/delivery: I place catering orders weekly and Iron Cactus is my #1 favorite to order from because of how convenient it is. Ivor makes the whole process really easy and responds to emails quickly. The delivery guy is SUPER nice, he helps you set up and-the best part-they are always EARLY if not on time. But for me they’ve always been early, which is RARE if you know the struggles of getting catering to your office in down town SF. I feel bad that it’s taken me this long to write a review, but thank you for your wonderful service and great food. My coworkers LOVE the food so just keep up the fantastic work!

I’m surprised by other reviews saying no one goes here because we’ve been here at least five times and every time it’s crowded and delicious and inexpensive as well. The fish tacos are awesomeness! Everything we’ve ordered has been fresh, tasty and fast. If you’re headed to AT&T park it’s a great little spot.

It’s like a Chipotle but with stale food because there is never anyone in there to eat it.

When I looked through the window and the place was empty, I was hopeful it was just a fluke. I was sadly mistaken. The atmosphere was cool, the staff was nice enough… Things not to order… Steak Fajitas, Steak burrito(too dry) Wet steak burrito… Chicken tortilla soup. All pretty flavorless. Chips and salsa also don’t come with the meal, you can buy it separately for $ 5 and they look like they came right off the grocery store shelf… Just pop off the lid. There was silverware, but drinks come in a solo cup or tin can. Sorry…

Came here for $ 1 taco Tuesday. The tacos had so little in it that it felt as if I were just eating tortillas. There was literally 5 tiny pieces of meat and 3 little pieces of onion. Paid $ 1 for two tortillas.

I’m not really sure why this spot get’s such a poor rating. I usually get take out because I work at the HD Buttercup next door, but the staff is friendly, they get my order right, and I’m in/out and on my way. If you’re looking for something casual and quick Iron Cactus is good check out. ENJOY! PS: Chips with each order. :)

a little on the bland side but decent enough. The chips are nice & thin.

loved the setup of the place. Food was alright. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a clean fork while lunching there at around 2pm. Loved the ambiance and the setup.

It’s easy to slam this place as too«Chipotle-like» and the fact that it’s the same owner as the Crêpe place next door, but hell, it’s one of the few Mexican places that actually serve my tacos al pastor. Spacious place and sangrias. I can be a simple gal to please.

I am working in the neighborhood, so I thought I would try it. The staff is very friendly, and the place is inviting. I got a burrito and it was pretty good, they are just a little lean on the meat, it was mostly rice and beans. I have eaten here several times, and have had the same experience every time, so ask for extra meat. Other than that the place is clean, and the food is fast

Decent Mexican food. More like a chipotle than authentic though. Fast, quick and easy Taco Tuesday $ 1 tacos are a plus. Don’t come on a game day otherwise they won’t honor it. Salsas are bomb. Can’t complain. Pricey for a quick bite but it’s soma and in the city so it’s expected.

Not much food in this area, for I had about an hour an half of time to kill so I thought I’d stop in for a beer and nachos. Corona light on draft is definitely a plus for me. Nachos can quick and were tasty, and with an ice cold beer on I cannot complain. It’s a bit stuffy in here and didn’t notice the outside seating until it was too late. Decent food and decent prices I guess. Really nothing to rave about but nothing to hate either.

Most of this has already been said, but nothing here is exceedingly good. Hardly anything here is fresh. And most things aren’t very authentic. That said, few things here are over $ 12. In a city overrun with startuppers waiting in line to overpay for hyped up food, sometimes you feel like eating 5,000 calories of modular mex for $ 8. Beans + rice + tortilla, now choose your meat and format and 10 minutes later you can go back to staring at your phone.

For what it lacks with its unremarkable Mexican fare, The Iron Cactus makes up for with a decent beer selection and outdoor seating. If you have a little extra time for lunch on a sunny weekday afternoon, the outdoor area is a nice spot for a more leisurely lunch. The clear canopy lets in the sunshine but keeps the wind at bay. You order along the assembly line and folks bring the food to you once you paid. Service is decently friendly. While the menu is unremarkable, The Iron Cactus is good for groups with something for everyone from salads to tacos to platters. It’s also nice that they have«baby» burritos which I found to be quite decently sized for lunch. You’ll get cheaper beers in nearby bars but to sit out in the sun with a brewski makes the slight premium at The Iron Cactus worth it. If you aren’t picky about the food, the outdoor seating is the highlight here.

Service was bad and confusing. I’ve had my fair share of burritos, and the iron cactus is by far the worst I’ve had. Ever. The Pastor was too sweet and obviously wasn’t marinated with the correct spices or even cooked properly for that matter. The beans were stale tasting which was alarming, and the rice just seemed old! Truly disappointed, will think twice about coming back.

Very plain Mexican food, not horrible, but probably only a place you frequent if you’re nearby or in a pinch. Menu is pretty large and they had an interesting chorizo egg torta special, so maybe they have some hidden gems if you taste enough things. No salsa bar and the chips are extra, and few.

Apparently in SF, places close between lunch & dinner –_– So we settled for this place. This place is huge inside, decked out in Giants & Warriors swag! Reminded me of a turu-turu, the food is in front of you VIA cafeteria style. The employees were too busy talking to each other even after they looked at us they kept their little conversation going before finally asking us if we were ready. BTW; we did look ready since WEWERESTARVING! I ordered the Cheese Quesadilla, simple. When we got to the cashier, we paid & were given a small basket of chips. Just chips, no salsa or anything. We got the Coke in a bottle to drink :) They gave us a number to put on the table. Our food came out quick. My quesadilla was surprisingly bigger than I expected :) I asked for Guac on the side(not bad) It was good, how can you really go wrong with it? Just sayin’ They had TV’s on playing ESPN so that is always a PLUS! I saw people leave their dishes on their table & leave, then I also saw people put their dishes in the bus carts, we opted for that. Their bathrooms are only on stalls, FYI. All in all, it was okay.
