I like this place a lot, Love the Iced Coffee, and LOVE the egg sandwich… my go to. The back patio is a nice little hide away during the summer. The staff is super nice! This is my favorite coffee shop around the area.

Worst service. The guy in the front doesn’t seem to give a shit. Its been over 30 minutes and the food still hasn’t arrived yet. They are just standing around on their phones. Waste if time.

About the place: Super cute with a great patio out front and back. WiFi also. On the patio out back there was a family with kids and also a guy painting his friends portrait — pretty cool scene. The point is the space is versatile. About the food: the food is pricey but I was pleasantly surprised because it is good. I think maybe I went in with the expectation of it being just a coffee shop but it wound up having a nicer restaurant feel so to speak. The almond croissant is impeccable as is the Ruben. The Ruben comes with a salad and unfortunately we found a dead Rolly Polly(cute little insect) in ours. Not a deal breaker they have an excellent health rating and hey, it’s certainly organic. About the service: I’m from the East Coast and have noticed that in particular coffee shops have poor service. There was a young man there that day who looked like he could care less about what we ordered or when we ordered it. Restaurants grossly underestimate service, customer loyalty and word of mouth here. A lot of times even if your food isn’t the best if your customer service kicks ass, I’m in. I was so turned off by the lack of service that I’m not sure I would go back. I wonder what folks are asked in the interview process here. I’d love to sit in on one because if you aren’t passionate about service and about your customers you won’t last — or rarely last I should say. AND you should hire folks who love their job as much as you do. Again it was one person in particular, the two ladies seemed very nice etc. About the price: latte w/extra shot, Ruben(comes with side salad) and almond croissant for $ 22.

They just don’t give a shit here, and that sucks. I don’t like giving my money to people who are so disinterested that they can’t even crack a smile and who look at me like I’m an alien from another planet.(That’s happened every time I’ve been in.) Previously, I’ve gritted my teeth at the lack of warmth and just enjoyed the food. No more. After a weird salad today that instead of having candied pecans on it, had a bunch of sugar and a few nut bits from the bottom of the candied pecan jar dumped on top, and some very odd, off-smelling sun-dried tomatoes, as well as a heinously overpriced chicken tortilla soup with NOTORTILLAS, I am pretty well done here. I would have complained, but after 4 unsmiling interactions with the server in the mechanic’s jumpsuit, with him looking at me like I was an alien, I was sure that I’d be wasting my breath. The fact that they don’t even have a website with a customer service contact option says it all. They just don’t give a shit. Blue Fig: you are the new Herbivore. Snotty, disinterested hipster idiots who are slow to get shit done, and don’t give a fuck about the customer, or doing it right. Fuck it, I’ll take my money elsewhere.

The Blue Fig was decent. not sure that I’ll be back again though. Not a huge breakfast menu, a little pretentious and CASHONLY. I had the French Toast — not really normal french toast, not bad just not amazing. It is like french toast that has been put in a toaster oven after it was cooked, crispy and kind of hard on the outside. My friend had the waffle which was pretty good. Coffee was ok.

The coffee is no bueno. I suggest getting your espresso fix down the street at Ritual. The food is not terrible but it’s overpriced. An egg sandwich with one piece of ham costs $ 8. No side salad, nothing. The blue cornmeal waffle is delicious but also pricey. Sometimes, they run out of fruit so you only get one scoop of blueberries with your waffle. Regardless, I still come back occasionally for this waffle. Also, this is not a quick grab and go type of place. It’s soooo slow. It takes around 30 minutes to get your food and coffee. How is that even possible given the simplicity of the menu items? Tip — Cash only but there’s an ATM right by the cashier… if you don’t mind the fee.

Waffle and French toast took 1 hour to be placed on my table from time ordered. It was expensive and not worth waiting for. Waffle was a bit soggy. French toast was nice. Coffee was bland. Wait staff was not friendly.

I’ve been here twice now and it’s a nice place to spend an afternoon. Their coffee is good and I’ve tried their cookies and home fries, which were cheap and filling. I always need an outlet, otherwise I might enjoy their outdoor patio. The bathroom is nice and clean! Wifi password is loveislove.

My first experience of the Blue Fig. I love it. I’m coming back all the time! I’m having their egg sandwich on focaccia and the bread is perfect, the sandwich is the best sandwich my brain could imagine. on this morning of being hung over from a night out at another gallery, my soul needs healing. The sandwich has done it. It is also perfectly conducive to my writings about what kind of art to make next. Also I have a mason jar mug for my cold chai. Barista was happy and chipper. I love it.

I wanted to get breakfast for my sister and I, with two cups of coffee — the total came up to about $ 22, I took out my card, and saw the sign, cash only. I had only $ 15 on me, so couldn’t get the food. I spent $ 14 instead of $ 22. There is no reason this place should be cash only. With credit card processing cost at 3% + $ 0.30(see Stripe), the transaction cost would have been just about a $ 1. So instead of taking my $ 22 and making $ 19 out of it with the transaction cost subtracted, they went with the modal of charging me $ 14. Now, you could argue that not everyone is going to purchase $ 22 meal, but that’s why there exists a minimum credit card purchase i.e. minimum $ 8 to use card. I have been here total of 3 times, and all three times, I ended up attempting to purchase $ 20+ meal, and ended up spending less. Way to go boss! P. S. you could also argue that they are making more profit by paying less taxes on minimized reported profit, but I would rather make more money and pay more tax, then make less money and pay no tax.

Really cute outdoor space in the back with wooden tables and backyard string lighting. Yes, it takes a while for your order to be made, but they have free wifi so I was able to get some work done while the food came out. We ordered the Baked French Toast – pretty scrumptious and served with some yummy blueberries, strawberries, and bananas with whipped cream and candied pecans. Nice cinnamon-y flavor. We also got the Roma breakfast sandwich which had a gooey egg, tomatoes, cheese, and delicious basil. I also ordered a latte which was pretty good – not the best I’ve had but still pretty good. Mine did not have as beautiful latte art that some of the other Unilocalers received. We enjoyed both of the dishes and would definitely return for the ambiance and food. Cash only, too!

I work near here so I often stop by for coffee or lunch. I really enjoy it but there are definitely pros & cons. Pros: — The egg sandwich — vegetarian & delicious! — The oatmeal & yogurt is also a go-to meal. You get exactly what you expect to get. — They make all of the food to order so it’s fresh — They have outdoor seating — both in front and out back — Wifi if you ask for password Cons: — There are only a couple people working so it can take a long time to get your food — Staff is usually nice but sometimes it’s hit or miss. A couple times I could tell the two people working behind the counter did not like each other or were really annoyed. — Service can be slow(even just to order) so not ideal if you’re in a hurry — Cash only which isn’t always convenient With that said, still my go-to coffee/snack shop in the area. It has above average food & a cute, homey feel.

Blue fig is meh… at best. Trust the previous reviews when they say the wait is long, although they do warn you up front with a sign saying it’s because all their food is freshly prepared. I ordered the egg sandwich, and replaced the ham with tomato(subbing ham for avocado was going to be an additional up charge). I also got a latte, which was cold by the time my food came out. The coffee was decent, and well priced. I think this place is better for just grabbing coffee in the morning. The outdoor patio is nice though, and they do have wifi. It could be a good place to read or meet up with a friend.

Small place, small menu… delicious coffee + eats. I actually love a place with a small menu, large menus can be overwhelming and make you feel like nothing can be «that» good if they have so many things. I came here for a «quick» breakfast with some girlfriends recently. I was planning on going into my office late, however this took a lot longer than I thought. They do warn you that making your meal could take up to 45 minutes, but since it was so slow I didn’t think it would. It did. Making an egg sandwich does not take 45 mintues, I’m sorry. However, all of the food was fantastic. If I have more time I would definitely come back. The back patio is adorable. This is the kind of place that you take a book too, or your laptop if you have some work to do. Hang out for awhile and enjoy the ambiance. The coffee is wonderful as well, I got a café latte. We were definitely a little confused if the food/coffee was going to brought to us or not, and the cashier wasn’t very friendly. Overall service and preparation time was not impressive, but it was delicious and I loved the ambiance, therefore 3 stars it is.

Enjoyed sitting out on the sidewalk for an ice-cold coffee on a hot afternoon, enjoying their wifi and watching my fella eat a yummy looking quinoa salad. Wished I had known about their sunny back patio area. It was away from the traffic, was quiet and looked like people were having fun sitting in the sun and working on their computers.

Look, the food is good. But the time it takes to prepare it is absurd. They say upfront that there’s a wait to receive food, but it doesn’t excuse how long I’ve had to wait on a couple of occasions– five minutes for a cappuccino when no other orders were up, and over 50 minutes for a breakfast sandwich which only consisted of eggs and cheese. It seems like the food service could be streamlined, or they just need to offer items that don’t take them almost an hour to make — the employees weren’t slacking at all, but it still took them excessively long to complete orders. The food is solid — I’ve had the vegetarian lunch sandwich and would recommend it, while their breakfast sandwich is pretty mediocre — but if you want to order, be prepared for a very lengthy wait.

This place was fairly grungy. I did like their outdoor patio/seating area. Honestly, I came in here because I desperately need to use the restroom. I did order a drink because I believe in reciprocation and promoting businesses if I were to use their amenities. However, I didn’t like the service one bit. The baristas looked spent and not at all eager to meet costumers. That factors equates to the 2 stars docked off. I would much rather visit another café 2 – 3 blocks away if I ever needed the restroom than to spend money here again. overall, it was allll right…

3.5 stars First visit: two orders of croque madame to-go, which held up really well until we reached our destination. Delicious except for the amount of stone-ground mustard was slightly overwhelming. We munched on fresh-out-of-the-oven salted chocolate chip cookies while we waited for our order — chocolate to cookie batter ratio was almost even. Friendly service from our male cashier. Still, I vowed not to come back because The Blue Fig is a cash-only establishment. But we did go back. Second visit: brunch on their back patio. Improved croque madam, mustard quantity was noticeably dialed back. I ordered two eggs atop my breakfast sandwich & one came out over-medium like I requested, while the other oozed yellow all over my plate. Their lack of attention to detail ensures we won’t be back. It took several tries before we found clean water glasses, & the utensils were also filthy. Brioche French toast was dense, I would not recommend. Interaction with our female cashier was cold. Casual café with a great patio space, but more misses than hits.

The food here is delicious! I was looking for a spot for brunch on a Sunday with no wait in San Francisco. Sounds impossible, but this was it! Prices are awesome, about $ 8 for a breakfast sandwich! I tried the croque madame and my boyfriend had the roma breakfast. Both were incredibly delicious and we cleaned the plate up. They have a small outdoor seating area in the back with a cute setting of succulents, plants, and simple lights all around. Loved the food, setting, and prices!
