Thao Duong – Permanent Make-Up & Cosmetic Tattooing

This is based on my overall experience with Thao. I have had two procedures completed by Thao. The first was a tattoo on my upper eyelid which I really liked and still do even after its healed. It looks natural yet brings more definition to my eyes. Exactly what I wanted. That is why I decided to go back and get my eyebrows tattooed with her since I had such good results with my upper eyeliner.
Big mistake…
Unfortunately, the eyebrows did not come out how I would want. I think they are way to long for my face and they make me look mad and do not look natural (unlike my eyeliner). I had my eyebrows tattooed 6 days ago since this rating, and have not liked how they have turned out. I even wear a hat in my own home so my family cant see what has happened to my eyebrows. That’s how bad they are. When I told her I was unhappy with how they look right after the procedure, she assured my that to give it to the end of the week (which I did) since they need to heal and that the ends will fall off, –which they havent. As she said the color did lighten, but the shape is something unnatural and I don’t like it at all.
So now I am stuck with my upper eyeliner tattoo that I am happy about, but eyebrows I hate. I do regret getting them done because now I have to get a laser removal to get them off.
This review is my honest opinion, and to those who are thinking about getting your eyebrows tattooed, make sure you have no doubts whatsoever and really think about the procedure and the aftermath because I think that eyebrows are one of the most important features on a person and if you get an eyebrow tattoo that goes wrong, its really hard to to have to look at yourself in the mirror everyday wishing you just left them alone. After I get my eyebrow tattoo removed, I am going to love my natural bushy eyebrows for life.

I adore Thao!!! She did my eyeliner and it came out perfect! It didn’t hurt and the process turned out to actually be very relaxing. Thao takes her time picking out the perfect color for your eyes and skin color and is extremely precise and careful with everything she does. She truly cares about you and I am very picky! She was patient with me when trying to figure out how I wanted it done. If it weren’t for her I wouldn’t have gotten it done anywhere else. She is the only person I trust with my face! She trims and shapes my brows as well and I love those too now thanks to Thoa! Highly recommend her! She has all five stars on all her reviews for a reason. You get what you pay for people! Don’t make a mistake and go the cheap route, it’s your face!

I want to first say Thank you so much to Thao! This is definitely one of the best decisions that I’ve made in my life. :D
Every morning I spend a lot of time doing my eyeliner– I basically have it on like all the time to the point where I won’t ever let my friends see me without it. So I decided to search for someone to do permanent makeup and I found Thao.
When I first walked in for my consultation she greeted me very warmly and that already made me feel comfortable. I explained to her what I want to get done and it was just my bottom liner. Being Asian I have small eyes and am very self conscious about them, so I put on really thick bottom eyeliner. Thao then removed the eyeliner that I had on at the time and then did a pass herself. She explained to me what she was as she went– doing a little bit of the top liner and less on the bottom, not just the thickness, but also where the line tapers. When she was done and I took a look I was delightfully surprised! She used less eyeliner than I did and really brought out my eyes more! What I didn’t realize was that when I put on my bottom eyeliner I make it very thick to compensate for the top. But Thao did a really nice balance between the top and bottom. It really brought out my eyes and yet at the same time made the makeup look more natural.
When I went in for the permanent session I was pretty nervous because I wasn’t sure how it was going to feel. Being a tattoo, and having one done before, I could image it being pretty painful. However Thao gently applied anesthetic on my eye lines while i had my eyes closed. Keeping my eyes closed Thao starts tattooing. Having the area numbed, what I felt was like when you would pluck hair, which is like nothing in comparison to what’s actually happening when getting a tattoo! So I was very relieved and happy about that! Thao is a perfectionist so she made sure everything was done properly and took the time that was necessary. When I saw the results I was extremely happy! Just as she said it would be, the permanent liner was right on top and in-​between the eyelashes. Not only did that make it look natural it also made my lashes look thicker.
Overall I had an amazing experience with Thao! I highly recommend anyone to go get permanent makeup done by her. Remember that she is an advocate for being conservative, and yet does the makeup in a way that brings out your natural beauty. After it’s healed and you decide you want to make it darker or thicker, she will only charge for the supplies– her time and her work is free because what she really cares that the job is done right, and that her clients are happy with the results. I’m very glad I met Thao, because not only did she change my life, but I now have a new friend as well. :)

Thao is absolutely amazing! I have never had my brows «shaped» before, but it makes all the difference! No one has ever been able to make my brows look so good. She takes her time with you and makes you feel so comfortable. She trims and tweezes until each and every hair is in the right place. Words cannot express how happy and confident I am every time I leave my appointment with Thao! You must go see her!

Thao is awesome, a master of her trade. I would hands down recommend Thao, no questions asked. If you are looking for the best look no further.

Moving to a different country or just another city is exciting, at the same time, it comes with great challenges, including finding the right artist who can take care of your eyebrows, and who will actually know how to shape them.
I spent a few months when I first moved to the East Bay, trying to keep up with my fast growing uni brow. After going to different places getting my brows butchered, I met Thao Duong who offered (and was probably dying to) shape them. The difference was amazing! I had never seen my eyebrows look so, (no reason to be modest here) perfect. I had never experienced having my eyebrows shaped the same way before. She uses tweezers and pays attention to the way each hair grows in order to get the right shape. She even takes before and after pics so that you can see the improvement.
I don’t have plans to leave California in the future, if I do move, I might just have to fly to where ever she is to get my eyebrows shaped. I don’t want to bear looking at my face with unruly brows ever again.
