Food was pretty good, but it didn’t outweigh the«décor.» The table next to us was covered in flies, cushions on the bench against the wall had holes covered with duct tape, and the place looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in months. I was swatting at the flies while the waitress came up, mentioned the flies, and she just smiled and walked away. Doubt I’ll ever go back.

Used to be great and very kid friendly when the place was run by the parents and it was a lovey neighborhood place. The son has now taken over and it’s definitely not kid friendly any more and the son has zero charm and is letting the standard of the food slip.

Sorry to share this bad experience… we are from the neighborhood. eating out approx 14 – 21 times a week in and around the neighborhood This was my second time at Tenichi… the first time was great… we posted to share our awsom first time experience here + recommended to many friends. Last night, Tuesday of Christmas week we chose to stop in for some sushi on our way for some holiday cheer + movie. We experienced such a rude waiter. We had to request napkins + water at least 3 – 4 times. the soup was extremely over heated in plastic bowls with plastic spoons — the city of SF has even banned hot food packaged in plastic or styrofoam for being unhealthy. The better healthy concious spots serve hot food in glass or porcelain not cheapo plastic ware. Seriously, who really wants unhealthy pb’s leeched from cheap plastic in their soup or food?! The waiter smiled and was nice to the tables around us however every time he approached our table we got the mean, rude, dirty looks from him. When we requested water, a soup spoon or anything he was so rude and gave us such ugly looks. it was obvious he did not appreciate us at his table! On the way to the washroom, I had to pass the same waiter. he gave me the rudest looks again. my friend noticed at the table too! He mentioned to me, maybe it was a language barrier? honestly we have never experienced rude service before at any restaurant or bar or venue in the city… this is such a great neighborhood and community, everyone is so nice — this was so surprising and atypical of the neighborhood community we know and love. Our groups of friends work, live and play all around the neighborhood, everyone agrees it is very awsom here. Since we receive rockstar and friendly service all over the neighborhood and are friends with the staffs at pretty much all the other top spots in the neighborhood, we were quite surprised. We will never eat here again. There are so many awsom sushi spots around the city, we did not appreciate our rude service and bad vibes with our mediocre sushi. The food was not awful, it was average… there are many fantastic options around pac heights. Out the Door down the street is mindblowing every time and they are nice! In a nutshell — Very Unpleasant experience while out to enjoy some holiday cheer! Really bad vibe from the waiter. It soured the taste of the mediocre sushi. You can do So Much Better in the city, the standards are so high here there are so many awsom sushi spots. We love a nearby sushi spot on 6th and California. also Blowfish is fantastic. Live Sushi SOMA is another good one!

Endulged twice now. Went in for lunch a second time. Never again. The lunch special was a bento box and I chose teriaki chicken which didn’t have enough sauce and worse yet the chicken was tough to chew signaling it had been frozen, and appeared premade. Way too much salad dressing. Ordered two pieces of Unagi and it came cold which should have been hot! Also, they were $ 4 each. Took way too long for lunch to be delivered in a restaurant that have maybe 8 people Many other choice on Filmore street.

The sushi menu is separate from the regular menu. Tried the hamachi firecracker special roll along with Malbec from Argentina. Had the wine to finish. Tasty and good service.

Me and my coworkers ordered Lunch Bento boxes and their about $ 10 each and I got the Chicken Teriyaki and the chicken is very little its like 1⁄3 of a chicken breast. The Tempura is good but my coworker had a bug in her salad which made us all not want to eat the salad. The only reason why we order from here is becasue we work at the hospital and this is the only Japanese restaurant close to us but we will never eat here again.

Ten-Ichi is my new favorite PacHeights sushi spot… not too crowded, but fabulously clean restaurant. The sushi was creative and very fresh(having sat at the sushi bar watching, I can vouch). Prices are not cheap, but worth it for the quality of the fish. Don’t miss out on the house-smoked salmon, it’s unbelievable!

Pretty sure my sake nigiri was frozen/thawed and the stuffed mushrooms were literally mushroom donuts. All the other nigiri I had were also very underwhelming. Would rather get sushi from whole foods. Sad bc I live so close and would love to frequent, but… I just can’t.

The Shrimps and Vegetables Tempura(14.50) was good, but the sushi quality here is really disappointing. I got the Chirashi(22) and not only was it a small dish overall, but each piece of fish was limp, thin, lackluster, and bland.

My favorite neighborhood joint! I love the atmosphere(been in pacific HTS for 30+ years). The whole family is involved and the sushi is always fresh and delicious! Albacore sashimi is my favorite! Love Ken the sushi chef!

While this place is a little overpriced, I SPLURGE for it. You can taste the quality in the fish and the service is outstanding. The head chef, Steve, is always coming up with new hand rolls and is more than willing to create new things for you — if you are sitting at the counter. We go to watch Warriors games, as they are local sports fans. They make soy sauce and ginger in house, and have a pretty nice happy hour. If you want some quality sushi, come here! If you’re looking for 100 different types of rolls at a cheap price, head down to Godzilla.
Decent sushi, but nothing that I haven’t seen before. I don’t think I still have found that one Sushi place in SF quite yet. Overall, fast and friendly service though.

Sushi is not very good off the menu and it’s way over priced. If you sit at the sushi bar the younger looking sushi chef is great and will make you a bunch of rolls that aren’t on the menu. Those are all really good but anything off the menu is just meh. Unless you sit at the bar and order from the younger sushi chef it’s not worth eating here.

& the search for a go-to sushi spot continues. Sushi is fresh but overpriced-they don’t let you know that some rolls are just 4 pieces. Too much rice on some«filler rolls» Some of the rolls simply try too hard-weird vinaigrette sauce TV at the bar is a plus. Won’t be back unfortunately.

Color me green! I hate to be the Grinch but meeeeh, I’ve experienced better. Pro’s: — super friendly and attentive service — clean bathrooms — on Filmore(Lower Pacific Heights) Con’s: — overpriced bento boxes($ 25 — really?) — quality: sushi fell apart — presentation was a bit awkward(see picture) An okay place to satisfy your sushi craving when you’re in the area because of the lack of competition. Give it a try and judge for yourself but I wasn’t impressed.

Ten-Ichi covers the ground that makes me a semi-regular here. The wait service is excellent. My last experience at Ten-Ichi reinforced my overall high impression of their good service. They were checking in on my table with some regularity and always with a kind smile. Not to mention, your water glass will never be empty. The overall ambiance of Ten-Ichi reveals a relaxing tone accompanied by a tropical fish tank and taste full artwork on the walls. It’s very easy to have a conversation in Ten-Ichi without ambient noise as a distraction. I’d suggest coming to Ten-Ichi when you are in very good company that you are interested in talking with, or if you’re looking to relax after a stressful work day. Quality of food is standard, it’s what you would expect from a Japanese restaurant. Good selection of house rolls and shashimi. Lunch specials are always my go to. Especially the sauteed green beans with chicken. Bottom line: Excellent service, calm ambiance.
