This was only a few blocks from my hotel and I was pressed for time. The Unilocal community seemed to give this place high praise, so I thought I’d give it a try. Within the 450 Sutter building, it is actually called«Sutter Deli». I thought I came to the wrong place right off the bat. The place is quaint and clean. I got the #1 English muffin breakfast sandwich and it was just fine, just what you’d expect. However: the coffee was horrendous. I’m not saying this just as a coffee snob. I believe to the average coffee drinker, it would not be up to par. Offensive, bitter, and acidic. I would not recommend Sutter Café, or Sutter Deli.

This place was hard to find because it’s inside of a big building. I expected a café with freshly made sandwiches and salads, but instead the salads came already prepared in a box… and it took them about 25 minutes to make a veggie sandwich for my husband. Though he liked his sandwich, it definitely wasn’t worth the extremely long wait. P. S. I didn’t like my pre-boxed salad… so not worth the price.

Secret cheap eats spot in Union Square! I used to go to 450 Sutter all the time for dermatologist appointments years ago and never noticed this café. I found it one day while searching on Unilocal. I ordered a half smoked salmon sandwich for under $ 5. While I was waiting for my order I admired the variety of snacks they offered for purchase. After a few minutes it was done and I brought it back to the office. Sandwiches aren’t like Little Luccas big but my half totally filled me up. It had a fresh layer of delicious smoked salmon, light spread of cream cheese, tomato and onions on a baguette. I’ll definitely need to try their all day breakfast sometime and salad. Yay for cheap eats in Union Square!

Great food! Had lunch and breakfast here, while we were in San Fran! So yummy! Breakfast burritos are perfectly filling, and the lunch sandwiches are phenomenal! All of them! What a great experience! Especially for my first time in San Francisco! Sutter street café will definitely be on my list of things to eat next time I visit San Fran!

A great café! I’ve recently starting working at the 450 Sutter Building and my go to for breakfast is the breakfast bagel sandwich with ham, cheese and egg and it comes with a complimentary hash brown and coffee! They also have delicious salads, a variety of cold and hot beverages, and just all in all a good spot to grab that afternoon craving!

I have to confess that I only come here whenever I have an appointment with my doctor in the building and only if I happen to be in need of a quick bite before getting back to the office. I know that isn’t a particularly compelling reason, but I think it says something that I’m willing to stick around 450 Sutter to get a sandwich when I should be acting more like a bat out of hell after seeing my doctor. It’s a relatively modest operation although there are quite a few people who work in this tight space at any given time. It appears to operate as a combination deli and convenience store for those who know it’s there — patients, medical office staff, parking lot attendants, lost tourists. I usually come for the $ 7.99 Vegan Sandwich, which is well put together with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and artichoke hearts on wheat(photo: ). I’ve never asked them what spread they use on the sandwich(i’m guessing a soy-based mayo substitute) but I like it a lot. When I feel a bit more indulgent, I go for their same-priced BLT since they use Applewood Smoked Bacon(photo: ). These are not culinary creations of the highest order, but they do hit the spot when I need something fast. There are a couple of tables and a small counter if you want to eat in, but it crowds quickly so you may want to reconsider as several regular customers appear to hang out for long periods in here. This may be the Cheers of 450 Sutter. FOOD — 4 stars… good sandwiches, well packed AMBIANCE — 3 stars… definitely feels like a former pharmacy SERVICE — 3.5 stars… usually prompt though a bit slower the last couple of times TOTAL — 4 stars… you can’t knock a solid vegan sandwich… even if they don’t know my name

I’m gonna have to say this was a way better option for coffee and a snack than the Starbucks down the street. If you have business in the 450 Sutter building, this is teh easiest place to get food and coffee. The prices are not downtown SF ripoff either. Yeah the sandwiches are prices a bit above Subway, but they’re way better and made with care, not just slapped together. I had a lot of time to kill while my friend had an appointment in this building. This little café has free WiFi and is kick ass super fast, like 30Mps + fast. For a 16oz coffee it was just $ 2.00. There are a few tables to sit at and a counter space as well. I wanted some lunch food before heading back to the East Bay, so I ordered their Roast Beef sandwich. $ 8.95, it came with a little soup and a big sandwich on a Dutch crunch roll. The sandwich was not skimpy at all on the meat and even had avocado in it. Pretty decent for downtown pricing and convenience of big right here in the building. The café is Asian owned it seems and they are super friendly and efficient and seem to have regulars here. I’d return here for sure if I was in this building again.

I was walking back to work from my periodontist’s office and wanted to grab a quick bite. I found Sutter St. Café on Unilocal and decided to try it out after reading the great reviews. This place is a little hard to find initially, but there are signs that guide you to the deli from the entrance of the parking garage. I got the vegan sandwich, which had avocado, artichoke hearts, cucumber, roasted peppers, arugula, and hummus on dutch crunch. My sandwich was OK — I thought it was a little bland. I wish there were some jalapenos, pepperoncinis, or pickles, although I’m sure that is possible if you ask. The dutch crunch was a little too chewy for my liking and wasn’t baked enough. Although I wasn’t wow-ed by my sandwich, I really appreciated that they had a vegan option on their menu! I am not vegan but trying to adopt a more plant-based lifestyle and it’s great to see restaurants catering to all types of eaters. I also really like that on top of their menu, it states that they only use sustainably farmed meat with no antibiotics, no growth hormones, and vegetarian fed meats on all of their sandwiches. I’d definitely like to come back and try the other sandwiches.

I was starving and craving a bagel and lox. After Unilocaling for places near work, I found Sutter Street Café. It’s actually located in the same building as my eye doctor and dentist. Just walk into the building and make a right before the elevators. Then you’ll see Sutter Street Café on your left. On Tuesday, September 29th around 10:15am, I grabbed take out for breakfast. *Smoked salmon bagel($ 7.50): with Gina Marie cream cheese, tomato, onion, capers on an everything bagel When I ordered my bagel, the guy asked me if I wanted coffee and hash browns. I said no cuz all I really wanted was the bagel. But the girl that rung me told me they have a complimentary 12oz cup of organic coffee and hash browns with orders over $ 5.50 between 7am and 11am. So if you ordered something over $ 5.50 in that time window, grab your free coffee and hash browns. Once I realized they were free, I did! For the price, the bagel had a good amount of smoked salmon. They also toasted it nicely and put a lot of cream cheese in it. The capers cut into the smoked salmon well and the tomatoes gave it a good freshness. Great place to grab a bagel and lox in the morning. Just don’t forget your free coffee and hash browns if you go between 7am and 11am!

This little hide-away rocks. Breakfast sandwiches are great, price is great and the staff is professional. Takes a bit of time to make up the food fresh and to order, but that just allows for more time to chill to the old skool jams or catch up on reading.

Great unpretentious little spot for breakfast and sandwich indulgences, as well as deserts and other snacks. I had the #1 sandwich, the Sutter Street Special, which was the bomb dot com. Very friendly and highly recommended if you stumble by.

Great food, affordable prices and friendly staff. I’m only in town for work so found this place on Unilocal that’s near my hotel. If you come here before 11 and ordered more than $ 5.25, you get a free coffee. The food was delicious and couldn’t be happier for this little gem hidden in a building. BTW, one of the entrance is in the parking garage.

All I wanted was smoked salmon on a bagel for a light breakfast and that is what I got! The guys here are so super friendly and just happy — it was great! My salmon and bagel came in sandwich form so that was even better! This is a very small spot — not very fancy… but the food is good so you really can’t beat that!

Not only is the location as convenient as it gets(located in lobby of my office building), the food is genuinely good, at a very reasonable price, and the staff is incredibly warm; not at all what I was expecting from a lobby coffee shop. They also offer a very extensive menu of beverages, food, and imported/high end candy. They also have nice loyalty programs like a stamp card, 10% off with gift card(I think), and a free coffee/hash brown with breakfast sandwich purchase. I’m obsessed with the cold-brew coffee for only $ 2. It tastes so smooth and delicious, that I find myself visiting at least 2 – 3 times a week.

This is a great spot to get a delicious and light sandwich without paying an arm/leg for it in this area of SF. Bread is very light and fresh. I usually get the turkey cran sandwich — the meat is tasty and I like the veggies thrown into it. They spread the cranberry sauce on both sides of the bread(top/bottom) which most other places don’t do – great touch. The staff has always been super friendly! They have a fridge selling Fiorello’s gelato which I keep trying to try but haven’t. As others have said, seating is limited, but you can grab a sandwich here and walk down 1 block to Union Square and eat in the sunshine.

Found this place through Unilocal.I ordered the smoked salmon bagel. I asked for an onion bagel, but got an everything instead. The bagel was supposed to be toasted, but could have been a bit warmer and crunchier. They give you a complimentary 12 oz coffee and hash brown with every order over $ 5.50, which was pretty nice. They were friendly, attentive, and fairly quick. Overall, it was a good experience, but I’ve had better bagel sandwiches.

I am not a vegetarian, but since I’m on sort of a health kick and I’ve been looking for some healthier/lighter lunches, I ordered the black bean veggie sandwich based on some other reviewers’ recommendations. It was very flavorful and the sandwich was maybe an inch and a half thick. Pretty good portion and a decent price(about $ 8ish after tax). While it was very good, it wasn’t mind-blowing for a sandwich. It’s your average sandwich, slightly better than average for FiDi, and at a slightly better price point. What would make them an amazing sandwich place is if they sauced it up a bit, provided a dill pickle with their sandwiches and served bread that wasn’t toast slices but rather something… a little more interesting? Oh, and BTW — the black bean sandwich has got a little bit of spice in it so if you don’t like a little spice you may want to stay clear of this one! The café is nestled inside the 450 Sutter building(turn right after you enter). It’s got a cool store of candies and snacks that come from Europe, which came somewhat as a surprise to me. It’s a pretty decent selection though and I could see myself purchasing some European snacks the next time I swing by for a bite to eat. Also, I don’t know if they’re just super fast or if I just happened to beat the lunch rush, but I was in around 11:45am and out by 11:50am. Pretty darn fast.

So glad I found this little shop. I was in dire need of some sustenance before my plane ride and had no time to wait in line as is the norm in SF. I busted out my trusty Unilocal app and found this adorable spot. It’s hidden inside this giant building with a little sign that says«deli» pointing to it. When I walked in, I almost turned around thinking«ewwww another one of those pre-packaged sandwich places.» This is not one of those. Their Sutter Special is proscuitto, fresh cheese, aged balsamic and your choice of baguette or pretzel bread. I chose the pretzel because I’m a sucker for pretzel bread and he made the sandwich right in front of me. No cellophane wrapped nastiness here. They’ve got a nice selection of bars, drinks, unique chips(spicy pickle!) and snacks. A great pit stop if you’re in a hurry but don’t want a typical salmonella sandwich.
