This has been our go-to sushi delivery spot for years. Relatively few screwups, delicious fish, love their special rolls and good value.

Terrible experience. My food was late and when I called I was told«maybe soon.» Really? I therefore cancelled my order. Later the guy shows up and I tell him of my cancellation. A few minutes later her calls and begs me to take the food or his«boss» will charge him for it, which violates multiple provisions of the CA Labor Code. Either the guy lied to me or the business is unethical; either way I won’t be coming back.

I am pretty surprised at the poor reviews for this spot. I admittedly order from Sushi Friend strictly for delivery(through Seamless), but I typically expect delivery sushi to be pretty weak… Sushi Friend has been consistently tasty, fresh, and solid. And I primarily order sashimi(with the odd spicy tuna roll order if I need to feel a bit fuller), which is often where delivery goes bad. I have been impressed with the sashimi quality time and time again, and their delivery time has been impressively quick given that I live nowhere near the Mission. All in all, I’m a fan… there are plenty of other places I’d go out to eat sushi at, but for delivery, this has been the best I’ve found so far.

My bf and I were in the mood for sushi but didn’t want to go out, so I found this place on . We had a spicy tuna roll, rock n’ roll roll and the Godzilla roll. The delivery took around 30 mins which was much better than the 60 – 90 quoted. The presentation was great and cane with plenty of wasabi, soy sauce and ginger. The sushi itself was pretty good — probably not $ 30 good, but still good. The spicy tuna could have been a little spicer and the rice was a little wetter than I usually prefer, but all in all it was good. I would certainly order from here again.

Ordered delivery and found the service to be extremely slow. I am talking about 90 minutes to get dinner. Once you get the food, it is actually quite enjoyable. They have a large menu selection and tons of rolls to choose from. For big parties of 6 or more, the Tray B is quite a good deal. An abundant amount of rolls that are well done. Their sashimi portions are good and fish is good quality. If they can deliver faster, I would definitely think this is the better delivery Japanese restaurants.

My only experience with Sushi Friend was through seamless. I would have been happy eating this food in a sushi restaurant, and to have it delivered to my door made it so much better! We had 4 different rolls, and were happy with the entire bunch! I would have given them 4 stars, but they get a 5th star for giving us an extra roll by accident. Will definitely be ordering delivery from them on the regular!

I usually don’t write a bad review as you can see in my other reviews:) BUT I have to write it this time as I and my bf received an unpleasant service from Sushi Friend… First, we placed the following order for a delivery: Edamame, Seaweed Salad, Spicy Tuna&Cucumber Roll, Rock N Roll, and Natural Roll. When a guy came to deliver our food without(any receipt), we paid $ 40 for $$ 30 food(Tax is included). Then when the guy asked us «how much do you want it back?», we said $ 7 but he only gave us $ 4 as he didn’t have any change. This is okay as we also didn’t know how much we were suppose to pay him for the delivery. Then, when we opened the plastic bag, we realized that they forgot to pack Seaweed Salad. At this time, we were very pissed at this place since we payed $ 36 for $ 24.85 food… Food Review: Edamame and Vege Sushi was good. To be honest, authentic fish sushi wasn’t very fresh. Hope this review helps other Unilocalers:)

I order from here a lot through Grub Hub. I really like the Crazy Monkey Roll, with spicy tuna on top of a roll with shrimp tempura inside. You can get a special roll, a regular roll, and 5 sashimi pieces for cheaper than any other order-via-GrubHub location and still have a happy belly.

This place tends to be my go-to for seamless orders at the office. It is reliable good food and the same cute old man always bring it. My order(small variations but usually includes most of the following): Sunomono Mixed Veg Mushroom Miso Vegetable Dragon Roll Natural Roll Even my meat eating colleagues have often enjoyed my leftover vegetarian rolls so thats a plus.

The sushi here is good value for money… especially the cooked maki. Some of the raw maki had a fishy not-so-fresh taste. If you get delivery, make sure that they deliver your entire order. They missed a few items in my order and it took another entire hour to get them! Two hours is too long to wait for sushi dinner. At least I got to eat the part of the order that they delivered the first time while waiting for the stuff that they forgot…

Ordered from Sushi Friend through Seamless, had it delivered to my office in the Financial District. This review is based on dinner takeout! I had the salmon sashimi as my entrée, with an unagi handroll, goma-ae, and miso soup. First, the good: the goma-ae and the miso were both fantastic, with the goma-ae being some of the best I’ve ever had, hands-down. For that alone I’ll probably try Sushi Friend again. The miso soup was also above average, not just watery broth with tiny flecks of seaweed and tofu, but there were actually mushrooms and other edibles in there, as well as a good solid miso flavor. Second, however, the mediocre. The salmon sashimi was not worth the price. There were five *small* pieces of fish for $ 10 or so, about half of the portion I would have expected. Disappointing! The fish had also been placed on a bed of lemons, which«cooked» the underside a bit in the time it took to be delivered. Not ideal — lemon should have been placed on the other side of the other things in the tray. The fish was fresh and otherwise, though. And the unagi handroll was mostly unexciting, about as average as you can get. I’m going to give this place another try, if just for the goma-ae! Delivery was quick and friendly, too.

I’ve been looking forever for a new go-to sushi delivery place. I work all the time and sushi is like the default dinner option. After trying everything in the Mission, Sushi Friend is totally the best value. The fish is fairly fresh and good quality, and the rolls are prepared well. Their wasabi is a bit weak, so you really need a ton to taste it. Also it seems over the past few months they’ve been increasing the amount of rice in the rolls, but overall they are still well portioned. If you call in, you can also get a free roll, which is awesome! Takes an hour to deliver though, so make sure to plan dinner ahead of time.

It’s as if I and some of the other reviewers were eating food from different restaurants… I enjoyed it every time I ordered food from Sushi Friend when I lived in their area! In fact, this became my favorite restaurant for a long time(until I moved). The sushi was always just right, tasty, and filling. I never got a stomach ache or any sort of negative effect, they always included a fruit bowl or other extras, and the rolls were always beautifully presented. The edamame was moist, hot, and flavorful. The seaweed salad was so good that my fiancée now measures all others by their example. I never saw the location in person, but it’s important to remember that a lot of restaurants have… questionable…kitchens. I used to work in the kitchen equipment manufacturing industry and I’ve seen a lot of scary kitchens. I’ve decided that it’s best not to look if you care to continue eating out. If you’re that worried, cook at home.

Ordered delivery via grub-hub. While I was eating the edamame, I found a maggot in it(I have photos to prove this). I thought I was going to throw up. DISGUSTING.

I almost never order food delivery — but I came home Thursday evening after 2 weeks of working extremely long hours and collapsed on the couch. The idea of making food(or walking to pick up food) was unfathomable. Sushi is my favorite comfort food when I’m stressed, but sushi delivery tends to leave me unsatisfied. Anyway, went on Seamless and found Sushi Friend, and after cross-checking the mixed reviews here on Unilocal was expecting another disappointing sushi delivery. Especially considering the prices were really cheap. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised with how good the sushi was(I ordered 3 rolls). Super fresh and tasty! Only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is that delivery was a bit slow(it was 9pm, and I live fairly close, so would have expected it to get here sooner). Regardless, this will be my new go-to place for sushi delivery.

The reason Mo B couldn’t find it is because it is located in the Pizza joint on the corner of 18th and mission. That’s right, the reallllly dirty gross looking Pizza Love. Yup. I am staring at really huge cuts of sashimi(basically a fillet of fish rather than beautiful slices) and debating putting them in my mouth. I am totally scared of food poisoning after seeing where they are located. Going to trust the other Unilocalers on here and go for it, but wow, will never order from here again. **Update: Ate one piece and it was so crunchy on the ends I had to stop. Don’t order from here! I saw the kitchen…

Generally I don’t rate my delivery places, but today we tried Sushi Friend and I am quite happy with it. I just recently moved from NY to SF and have been trying to find some delivery go to places. After trying Tao Yin down the street and not getting food for over 2 hours and otherwise just not finding any great choices on GrubHub or Seamless, we decided to give Sushi Friend a try even though it was new. I am quite happy with it. I called the restaurant just to make sure my GrubHub order went through and I asked even though the estimated delivery time was an hour, if possibly they could be faster since I live literally two blocks away, and wow they got here in like 20 minutes!!! That is amazing time for delivery in SF so I have learned. I also wrote in my order to please include enough wasabi since sushi places often go cheap with it and the store definitely listened. Kudos for listening to the customer! Now the food, very fresh and just felt very cleanly prepared and big portions too. The rice was also pretty good, i.e. not falling apart. Generally my boyfriend and I order 6 rolls and feel less than stuffed when we get sushi and we were totally stuffed today and had some leftovers for his roommate. I think I am making Sushi Friend my delivery sushi go to place. Glad we tried it. Yes I am less critical with my delivery places than a sit down restaurant, but for a third of the price of some fancy restaurant, this is so worth it!

After reading some bad reviews, I am not sure if I try it or not. With my friends highly recommended, I tried it tonight and luckily I did. The rolls are amazing, I would like to order it again and again. Btw I highly recommend the magic roll!!!

They left a menu on my front door the other day, and feeling lazy I decided to order delivery. It took about an hour to get here, which is fine– I ordered around peak dinner time. The rolls, gyoza, and miso were good. The edamame was so-so; no flavor and really dry. The main entre I ordered was beef teriyaki. GROSS! It was cold, bloody, and mostly fat. Not one completely cooked strip of edible beef in the whole dish. So I guess if you like undercooked lard-y beef– go for it! Otherwise I would say avoid all meat.

My impression and recent experience with Sushi Friend is poor and disappointing. I would not recommend them.
