When you first walk in, it’s a dive-y place. Many times its completely empty but you’ll notice a lot of take out. The service is attentive, the food always comes out piping hot and you also can’t beat the price. They serve your typical Asian American Chinese dishes(sweet sour, fried rice, etc) but also cook up more traditional dishes if you know what to order. It’s nice that they have pictures on the wall for you to see. So don’t be afraid to eat here when you look in and it’s totally empty — the food is not bad!

Came here just to try how the food was considering tried most of everything else in the area. This was however a disappointment in everything. Ordered ahead so wouldn’t need to wait, still waited because they didn’t check where the order was. Arrive how and the plates were either small and half filled or flavorless.

GREAT food, very nicely done. Presentation and atomosphere not the best — but cheap food, yummy food, YES

I have been a long time customer of Sunset’s Best Seafood Restaurant and it has never disappointed me. The portions are generously large and cheap and customer service is always great. If you’re looking for something quick to go or eating in, this is the place. I recommend the mapo tofu and Mongolian beef. One of the main waiters(Paul, who greets me everytime I come in) is an excellent server. They recently remodeled the inside and I must say it is definitely more appealing than before, which is a huge plus.

My man Paul is the best waiter in town, what an inviting atmosphere and delicious food. They recently had a remodeling and the service and food is still just as good if not better.

This is a true hidden gem in the sunset. The food is great and the portions are ridiculously generous. If you choose to have the dine in experience, Paul, the waiter that works there will not disappoint you in terms of customer care. He not only keeps the teapot flowing but he will even personally pour you a cup of tea if the crowd isn’t too large. What more can you ask for?! Cheap, fast, tasty Chinese food! Come check them out

Pretty mediocre food with terrible service. Went for lunch and waited 15 minutes for a menu. Decided to have chow mein to be safe, but it was greasy and tasteless at the same time. Will not go back.

I’m not sure if it would be correct to categorize this restaurant as a seafood restaurant. It has a typical and very diverse Chinese menu that simply includes a seafood section. Regardless, I sadly found the food flavorless, and the hygiene questionable. The name could not be more misleading. Very cheap place to eat, but I wouldn’t come back.

My boyfriend, our two kids, and I came to San Francisco and decided on eating at this restaurant because of the type of food, the distance, and the price. So we got here and it was empty. The host was just setting up tables. I was a little nervous because of the lack of customers but we were hungry so we stayed. We ordered the Catfish in black bean sauce with greens, sautéed in garlic sauce and chicken fried rice. Also some pot Stickers. The host was extremely attentive and nice to all of us. He brought us some of the house soup which was OK. The food came out pretty fast. It was really good. And at the end of our meal the host brought some orange slices for my kids. We were happy.

Aptly named restaurant based on food, not décor. Btw, why are all restaurants in SF so drafty and cold, need a fur My brother brought us here to dinner. It’s his favorite Chinese restaurant in the Sunset. Somewhat hesitant to eat here based on décor when we walked in, but decided to trust my brother, who’s been a regular customer for a year or so. Pleasantly surprised when the food arrived, very fresh and don’t appear to use MSG in cooking their dishes. Pretty delicious and lastly, cheap!!! Had a fried fish dish, shrimp with candied walnuts, and a beef stew, which was my favorite! So, if they did a paint job on interior and upped the lighting, this place would be packed!

This is a shame. I really like the food here. The waiter seems to randomly select prices for the bill. Tax can vary from 8−15%, rice has various prices… I’ve ordered one dish, for $ 8.50, and gotten a bill for $ 10.00. I can understand roundoff but it’s a bit much. When asking him, he drops it 50cents arbitrarily. It’s happened on three separate occasions, so it’s a bit annoying. Shame on place I like, that I just don’t feel comfortable going to anymore.

Everything is pretty good and the prices can’t be beat. Order enough for leftovers and enjoy it twice. Try the fried flounder.

You are what you eat… So I guess this time I’m Chinese, cheap, & yummy. My family lives in the neighborhood, so I’ve eaten here a couple times as a kid. I haven’t been back since. Nothing against the restaurant, but growing up on Chinese food, you just tend to steer away from Chinese restaurants when you think of eating out. If I’m in the mood for Chinese, I’ll just visit my parents and rummage through their fridge for leftovers. Duh. Free & authentic? No brainer. Anywayyyyy, this particular Friday night, S.O. and I were feeling quite lazy and browsed through GrubHub for anything that looked good. We decided on Chinese and even had all the items ready to order from Andy’s Chinese Restaurant when I took a peek at their Unilocal reviews and saw only bad things for delivery :(. So I decided to be the bigger person(I actually lost at rock-paper-scissors *sigh), brush my hair, put on pants, go out into the real world and order some take-out to bring back. Sunset’s Best Seafood Restaurant was the closest palce with the best ratings, so I went there and ordered everything we orginally planned on ordering from Andy’s. The older man who took my order was the nicest, and told me it’d all be ready in 20 minutes. I entertained myself in the toy section of the Walgreens across the street, and came back for my food. The man was very polite and thanked me multiple times for my business :) Hot & Sour Soup($ 5.95): Huuuuge container of this delicious-ness. There’s shrimp AND pork in there too. The bamboo shoots were cooked to a tender yumminess!(I hate it when they’re under-cooked and hard– same for carrots). I’d recommend if you’re a fan of hot & sour! Singapore Style Fried Rice Noodles($ 5.95): This was good and plentiful, but some parts of my noodles tasted really bland :(Still overall a good price for the portions. Honey Walnut Prawns($ 9.50): Crispy and sweet on the outside, tender, hot, and juicy on the inside! Yuuuuummmmayyyy! Salt & Pepper Fish($ 7.50): Fried just right to have a nice crisp on the outside with hot tender cod pieces on the inside. Not too salty & full of flavor! Yum! Parking can be a hassle during the busy dining hours, so I was one of those A-holes who double parked w/my emergency lights on right outside, ran in to place my order, then found parking by the side of Walgreens. Overall– Great price + huge portions to satisfy Chinese food cravings. I would definitely recommend this place, and I’ll definitely be back for more take-out. They haven’t remodeled or decorated their interior since I could remember, but I wouldn’t mind dining in with the friendly staff. I just rather binge on my Chinese food in private because it’s not a pretty sight… Just doing society a favor :)

Why aren’t people flocking to this place??? It’s got no ambiance, but the owner is so nice and so welcoming and the food is delish! The minced chicken lettuce wraps, mixed veggies(fresh veggies), pot stickers and Kung pao are all sooo good. And the prices are beyond reasonable! Love this place!

The name itself is a bit boisterous, but the food and prices are just«ok». They have a list of items on a $ 5.50 special menu that are pretty crazy cheap and filling. In terms of the food, their pan fried noodles are pretty decent, but the fried chicken wings weren’t very crispy or flavorful at all. When our hero came in on the weekend, the place was full of Chinese blue collar workers in overalls and paint covered clothes. This place isn’t much for atmosphere, but the service is quick and actually somewhat friendly for a no-frills Chinese restaurant. PROS: — Pretty good $ 5.50 menu any time of the day(which they round up to $ 6 for taxes and such when the bill comes). — Complimentary soup with your meals. — Fast service and they speak English too! CONS: — The quality of the food isn’t that great, but you get what you pay for here.

I got a quick $ 6 Chicken Chow Mein, and boy was that a mistake. Maybe I should have ordered something else? Grisly chicken pieces, no vegetables, too much soy and salt, and the noodles bland. Now my stomach seems upset. I ate a bit and threw out the rest. Note to self, just go buy lotto tickets instead of trying to satiate the urge for greasy noodles.

I almost don’t want to review this spot to reveal it’s secret. This place has the BEST chow mein I’ve ever tasted. For under 8 bucks, you can get almost 2lbs. of bomb chow mein. They also have a ton of good food such as lobsters, honey walnut prawns, and pan fried noodles. This is one of the outer Sunset’s best kept secrets!

This is the go-to spot for my grandparents to get their Chinese take-out. I have never dined here nor do I care to. This quaint little joint like most Chinese restaurants in the Sunset leave much more to be desired for an enjoyable dining experience. The food here is pretty good for dirt cheap and in large portions though. It lacks the exorbitant amounts of grease in Chinese food, and they aren’t stingy with the good stuff(meat and vegetables). The taste is average– nothing special except satisfying the appetite.

Conned again by overly-generous Unilocal reviews! Okay, okay, I’m exaggerating. I came in for lunch after my haircut a few blocks away, and was greeted by an almost empty restaurant. Undeterred(I was later told that business is fairly slow during Sunday lunches), I sat down, and went with the Unilocal-recommended lobster yee(e-fu) noodles, somehow convinced that I could eat an entire one pound lobster on my own(I couldn’t). A few minutes later, I’m greeted with a heaping plate of noodles, with an entire lobster interspersed throughout. All in all, not bad, not amazing, and not terribly pricy at about $ 17 — though markedly pricier than most(non-seafood) items on their menu, which I believe fell more in the $ 5 – 8 range. Service is the usual curt/short type, but is still friendly enough to make conversation if you choose to start it. And while they do accept credit, there’s a $ 20 minimum — expect a fifty cent surcharge if you try to charge for less than that. ***Accessibility Info*** Venue — No problems getting inside or being seated, though the restaurant was fairly empty at the time. Table seating seemed like it was spaced far apart enough to not present too many problems though, even when they’re busy. Bathroom — Didn’t check them out, so I can’t comment, but it actually didn’t seem like they had a bathroom for customers to use, so this is a moot issue.

My friend just moved into her new place in the Sunset and as part of learning more about the neighborhood, we decided to check out some of the restaurants in the area. After looking through the reviews, we decided to dine at the place claiming to have the best seafood. Hell, it even has«best seafood» right in the name! We started off with an excellent broth, compliments of the house. Totally refreshing on a chilly evening, it was a great way to pass the time until our dinner arrived. We ordered the salt & pepper rock cod and the tofu & vegetables. Both dishes were piping hot and really tasty. The fish was a tad on the oily side, but was super flavorful and not completely loaded up with MSG either. Overall a very enjoyable dinner. Service is admittedly slow but the old man working the dining room is simply awesome. He made us feel really comfortable and even offered extra soup. His recommendation of the fish was great and we both really enjoyed the experience. I’ll be back soon, that’s for sure! Food: 8⁄10 Service: 9⁄10 Price: $ Atmosphere: 7⁄10
