at times. I go at lunch, i like chicken strips. kinda expensive for a school girl. They take to long so I call in and order lately. But I haven’t been in the longest time. Wonderful seasonal fries yummy yummy in my tummy. What else? coffee is like max compact. uhh. juice kinda EXPENSIVE. . i forgot what i wanna say. it’s bright hurts my eyes. –___-” it’s YELLOW!

It’s a local spot for me if I need to get away from the housemates. Really yummy white mochas and fruit juices. I always get a BLT on wheat with watermelon juice. The couch is always taken and the other chairs at tables aren’t really great for you back. But sitting with your laptop and food by the window is great.

I used to frequent here a lot when the old owners held this place in high esteem. They had a weekend night where there was open mic night and people would come in and play. It had life, atmosphere, and a real sense of identity. This new place has it’s own identity too, although it’s more fitting of a person who loves bright pastel and neon colors. I will say the service is decent, and the food is average, but nothing out of the ordinary from other chinese owned establishments like Quickly’s or whatever café/express food out there. Coffee is ok, but it definitely isn’t like the old café. It’s sorely missed.

It’s great to find a café with no music in this noise addicted town. If you get there early enough, there is just enough time to have scrambled eggs and coffee, scim the newspaper, and be on your way before the twenty-somethings with their electronic gadgets show up.

I like the free wi-fi, acceptance of credit cards, bathroom, and the fairly large menu of breakfast dishes, sandwiches and salads. After sitting in there for a few hours, I had a headache though. The colors are too bright and the place has a skylight so it was warm and stuffy inside. They also don’t play music so being there does make you feel like you’re in a greenhouse. A bright greenhouse. Service is slow because there was just one woman there. Once you ordered upfront, she went into the back to make your food(I think). The fried egg sandwich was nice as it came with crisp lettuce, tomato and avocado and it seemed like it had been put in a panini grill. I like how the tofu salad came with mixed greens, two kinds of tofu and homemade dressing. The food was pretty good and the coffee is passable. Update: I wasn’t too keen on the breakfast burrito. It says it comes with scrambled eggs but the eggs didn’t look scrambled to me. They were overcooked. The latte was on the weak side. I might stick with the plain coffee. The layout isn’t very comfortable or inviting. Two large tables, one couch and one table on the side. The chairs aren’t comfortable either. If they changed the furniture, repainted, stayed open past 7PM and added music, I’d be much more inclined to hang out here. Their fridge is VERY loud and annoying.

Came here for a quick breakfast and this place was my typical american place. Waitresses were pretty attentive and the food was mediocre. Bfast Burrito was ok and hot chocolate tasted like Nestle Quik. lol Atmosphere seems like a high school classroom to me.

atmosphere: 1.5 food/drink: 3 overall: 2.5 the place is a hodge podge of randomness. and it was generally messy for a quiet Sunday morning. also no music makes for an awkward atmosphere. no one wants to read the chronicle from 2 weeks ago while inadvertently listening to the next table’s conversation. The americano was. eh, bad. no visible crema in my shot of espresso(can i get a proper tamp?!?) and it tasted more like 7 – 11 coffee than anything else. the b’fast burrito was quite tasty though! i got it with sausage and it was filled with yummy goodness. though watch the salsa as it’s essentially pico de gallo with larger very raw onions(of which my breath continues to exude…). it was prepared upon ordering and brought out to me. summary: go for the b’fast burrito(hold the onions) and get your caffeine fix elsewhere. 2.5 stars

i love this café. some of the best coffee in the city and i know coffee in sf. better than the mission joints, the haight places — seriously awesome and organic. they fresh bake scones every morning. the food is organic and super tasty. bfast burritos are excellent. full bfasts are a little greasy but still super good. the color scheme is a bit off putting for just hanging out inside. but the people who run it are so nice, good local art on the walls, free wi-fi, i really couldn’t cheer a place on more.(even if i want to repaint the place with better colors)

I have only been there once. That day the café was almost empty. I ordered breakfast including fried eggs. They took for ever to get made and were not done the way I ordered them. This might be a good place for coffee, but definitely not for food

great place to grab a huge mug of tea while surfing the net with the free wi-fi, i like the salads but the sandwiches are ok, great place to study when I get tired of libraries: just make sure you got headphones/music to put on when it gets too noisy

Huge fan of Sunset Café. The coffee is really good, and the food holds its own. Don’t forget to check their website for coupons. I havn’t used their enormous tv yet but it looks impressive. The free wi-fi is key as well.

Support this business, they do everything right: great organic coffee, excellent lox and bagels, salads with fresh mixed greens(none of that iceberg crap), friendly owners, free wi-fi, credit cards accepted(far from the given in Sunset\Parkside cafes), a goofy but comfy couch that encourages loitering, a big screen television, and a great neighborhood atmosphere. Yes, the place is yellow, but after a few minutes you forget how funky it looks or learn to love it.

I love this place. I stop there whenever I’m way the heck out in Sunset. They make a lox and cream cheese bagel that’s worth going out there for. The lox is always fresh, never fishy. And their coffee is quite satisactory. I think it’s a husband and wife owned/operated place. I remember that they went on vacation together and the place was just closed for a week or so.

I always get food to do here since I work nearby, everything they have is good, nothing fancy, try the turkey sandwhich a good old standby. My only gripe is that the coffee is a bit expensive, I believe Starbucks is cheaper!

My sandwich was kinda gross and my iced mocha had a weird aftertaste, but maybe that’s what it tastes like when your senses commit suicide because the walls are such awful colors.

One of the few times you’ll need sunglasses in the Sunset is being in this joint. I have no complaints about the important aspects: The folks that run the place are nice, and the food is tasty and inexpensive. I’d be pleased to have this café if I lived in the neighborhood, but they seriously have to pick out a new color scheme – something less illuminous, perhaps? Be sure to check out their website; if you’re cheap like me, they offer printable coupons, so make use of them the next time you’re in the area.

This unpretentious little coffee & snack place is done up in such bright yellows you may be momentarily blinded when you walk in. Thank goodness they have curtains in the windows during the day. They actually have quite an extensive menu(salads, sandwiches, omelettes, ice cream) in addition to their pretty good organic coffee. Good for a cheap brunch/lunch. The Sunset is definitely not one of SF’s trendy neighborhoods, but you can definitely find a bunch of inexpensive, quality places like this. Truly free WIFI and free coffee on Sundays 4 – 6 pm(bring your own mug). The owner, Henry, is such a sweet guy. Drop by and support the little businesses that make SF a cool place.
