I reviewed this place the first time I visited, and I have been many times since. Everything here is the best: the best waffle, the best egg salad sandwich, the best side salad, the best chocolate chip cookie, and probably, the best [thing I haven’t tried yet]. Every time I walk in it’s a struggle: should I eat my favorite thing, which will surely be the highlight of my day, or try another menu item, which is sure to be amazing as well? This place is a gem.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but there weren’t too many choices on the menu and it was a bit expensive for what it was. The SUPER buttery smell walking in, was also a bit much… but I’m sure some would disagree. The food was decent but nothing too special. We had 2 pizzas, a sandwich and the waffle. The waffle basically tasted like a croissant smooshed into a waffle shape, not really my thing. I like it more light and fluffy. The concept seemed a bit confusing. Café/bakery/pizzeria/sandwhich shop. The lady at the counter was Über nice though, that what a def plus.

If this places wants to compete with other restaurants it either needs to slash their prices or make their food a whole level better or increase their portion size. I paid $ 35 for 2 pizzas, a lemonade, and a coffee. The food was slightly above average and the interior was cute with nice outdoor seating appropriate for doggy friends. The portions were tiny and the prices were steep. I will not come here again based on principle. The food is not worth the high prices.

The coffee here is amazing and it’s Blue Bottle to boot! These«baristas» really know what they’re doing and with Goodie Goodie attached you cant go wrong with the tasty treats. John is the owner and he really knows what he’s doing. He’s a great guy and if you ever get the chance to meet him, make sure to say hello. As far as food goes — try the waffle turbinado. I swear you’ll have died and gone to heaven. I just wish this place was open on the weekends and I’d be there everyday… literally.

Ok, wow. An assortment of different and wonderful foods. Savory morning buns which are outstanding. Good coffee and cookies, what cookies. This place is too accessible for me for my own good.

I used the BBE coupon for a lunch sampler. 3 courses consisting of salad, pizza, and a cookie w/a glass of milk. My cookie bled chocolate, always nice. However, my pizza was not a pizza. It was a piece of thin crust folded in half over half a pizza’s worth of toppings, and the toppings were raw i.e. cold. I don’t even think there was cheese even though there was supposed to be… It was not good. Why didn’t I send it back? I was too damn hungry. Also, I felt bad b/c it’s a nice place with generally friendly service. There was also arugula on the pizza by the way. This lunch kind of killed my interest in arugula b/c there wasn’t much else to cut it in either the salad or the pizza, just the same flavor profile. The arugula salad with some citrus sections(very sparse) was a fairly small portion. Not too much to complain about since the sampler cost $ 12(worth more like $ 9 or $ 10). I had photos on my phone b/c the«pizza» confused me so. I’m too lazy to upload at the moment. I don’t think I’d come back for a meal, but I’d stop by to get a snack.

I like the imagery of actual star stream – ethereal, mind-blowing & hard to comprehend if you’re not a rocket scientist. The Harrison Street coffee/lunch spot, also called Starstream, offers heavenly treats. The bff deemed the lemonade($ 3.50) strong & super sour. My Blue Bottle New Orleans iced coffee(also $ 3.50) paired well with the Peanut Butter & kettle corn cookie. PB taste was not overwhelming & yes, the kettle corn is as chewy & as hard on your dental work as you would imagine(it’s worth the sacrifice, tho.) Their chocolate chip cookie, named The Old Fashioned, is made with FOUR types of chocolate giving it a 70 – 30 chocolate to batter ratio. I prefer more chewiness, but the sweet factor made up for its crunchy quality. Cookies are $ 2.75 each. Aside from café-type eats & drinks, expect to see waffles, pizza & sandwiches coming out of their small, but efficient open kitchen. Our cashier was a cool cat; friendly, chatty & had handsome, boyish looks. Why can’t they all be this way? Don’t make the mistake I did of visiting on the weekend unless you like being greeted by a ‘closed’ sign. Starstream is only open M-F & closes at 4pm, so your window of opportunity to try them out, is a small one. Plan accordingly.

If you ever had Northstar Tahoe waffles then you know what I’m talking about. Goodie Goodie is even better and for 3.50 compared to 5.00 and it’s local. Their menu is fresh and clean. The staff is kind and foodie experts. Go now and eat they have food, sweets, and blue bottle. 10

Came here for two things, the Belgian waffle … and a good iced coffee … recived both. The waffle was goofy and just everything I wanted it to be and when combo-ed with a blue bottle iced coffee it just makes things even better. A great mid-morning snack to continue my day with. All that needs to be said is that you should at least try this waffle, chances are you’ll like it. :) Oh and excepts cards … if order is over $ 10.

My prescience was spot on. Breakfast is amazing. Move over Golden Waffle and Waffle Mania, you have new competition for one of the best waffles in the city. Incredibly well-priced($ 4) and incredibly delicious sweet Belgium waffle that was bigger than expected and perfectly accented with a marmalade jam. It was a good recommendation that I’m glad I went with. House granola was plentiful, delicious and complemented with nonfat yogurt. Saved for later but absolutely worth mentioning, the goody goody cookie was, well, goody goody. You could also say chocolate chip euphoria. You could also be just as happy eating it for breakfast. OK, so I did have a bite with my waffle. Couldn’t help it. And I might be back. The egg in a basket(egg inside a hollowed out middle of brioche bread) looked amazing. Go for it all. But whatever you do, make sure you get the waffle.

I hate to bash local food made with personality… but this place was just a meh. I came here with my office compadres for lunch. Three of us had sandwiches, two had pizzas. To be certain: you are getting quality food at this restaurant. In terms of actually offering value for money, though, I cannot recommend Starstream. The sandwiches are small. I hesitate to compare them to sliders but their scale does not match the mental image conjured when I imagine a *sandwich*, you know? SANDWICH. A fistful of delicious meat, cheese and fresh vegetables — a potent weapon for vanquishing the most fearsome of hungers. If you’re hungry, these«sandwiches» are like bringing a grapefruit spoon to a knife fight. They are dainty, meek, half-hearted affairs. They would be charming if they were free. As it is, their $ 8 price tag will buy you a real Excalibur of a sandwich all up and down the peninsula. It’s not a good value. Onto the pizza. Was it good? It was. It was adequately a pizza, though here again it had none of the gusto with which your mental conceptions of pizza are most likely freighted. Its crust was light and crispy. The sauce, tasty, but anemically distributed. Cheese? Bare wisps of it distributed with the same listless hauteur that is the trademark of everything else at the table. Tasty, perhaps, but $ 12 plus tax and tip tasty? Boy, that’s almost enough to buy a *real* pizza that can feed several. There’s certainly quantity and quality levers to be adjusted for everyone’s restaurant preferences. There’s certainly no expense spared in the selection and procurement of Starstream’s food. At the end, though, I want a satisfying meal at lunch time, not an elaborate but expensive array of hors ‘derves. Not my cup of tea, but I wish them well.

i saw an article about starstream on SFWEEKLY a few weeks back about their ‘wafflegatto’. i was hoping and praying that there will be a day i would try that delectable plate of waffle, ice cream, espresso, and turbinator sugar bits. THANKTHELAWD i DID! Last 1÷21÷2011, it was a very nice and warm San Francisco winter day. delish! I’ve always love Liege-style waffles and putting in Blue Bottle coffee in the batter and have an espresso shot on the side. IT’S LOVERIGHTTHERE. For $ 6.50, you can’t beat that! I wasn’t sure if i had to shot down the espresso, but i poured it on the ice cream and waffle. I know this review was solely for ‘wafflegatto’, but there are other choices on the menu. I would go back for their infamous cookies, soon.(maybe their sammies and what-not!!!)

The food on display(sandwiches, pastries, thin crust pizzas, cookies) looks delectable. Fancy sounding, tiny sandwiches are served on homemade bread. They even put edible flowers on one of the pizzas. And they serve Blue Bottle Coffee. * Egg salad sandwich($ 6): the egg salad featured big chunks of hard boiled egg, a few capers and sharp tasting micro greens. It tasted fresh, simple and somewhat plain. I didn’t like how cold the sandwich was and the bread(foccacia like) had cornmeal on the bottom that made the sandwich unpleasantly gritty. * Side salad(came with the sandwich): arugula with boiled potato slices, pickled red onions, sweet-tangy homemade balsamic vinaigrette, this was so good, I liked the sweetness of the potatoes and the tangy dressing, they should offer it as a full size salad * Star Stream liege waffle($ 3.50): made to order Belgian waffle, it was hot, tender, sweet and yeasty, the exterior tasted almost caramelized with syrup on the outside, it didn’t have powdered sugar on top, nice but I like Golden Waffle better * Goody Goodie mini cookies: the chocolate to flour ratio is crazy; it seemed like a cookie that was mostly chips held together with a bit of batter. GG features 4 types of chocolate chips and cocoa nibs. The cookies are thick, crunchy and insanely good. I really liked the addition of cocoa nibs(crunch, a bit of bitterness to cut the sweetness). Brilliant.

cute little café that opened up and the entire staff are super nice!!! :) They mostly have pizzas and small sandwiches that are available everyday and update their special with usually some type of salad. And they have fresh made baked cookies and more galore! This is right behind my work building and already I have been here a couple times a week. I have to say that the staff really make this place 5 stars as everyone is super nice and happy to help you :) A couple of times they gave my coworkers and I free samples of the cookies and their morning pastries. Really nice touch and and awesome scheme to get us all hooked on their baked goods! :) All the cookies are really good, especially with their coffee. My favorite so far has to be the Verde pizza! I love getting the sunny side up egg on top and breaking it so the yolk oozes everywhere! I usually don’t like to eat the crust on my pizza but these pizzas are thin(think cheeseboard style) so its all super crunchy and delish. Don’t forget to get the Waffle for dessert or for an afternoon snack. Its made to order and super good when you are craving something sweet on a cold day.

This little shop is so adorable! I’m definitely coming back to try more items on the menu. Their pizzas are very unique with a thin crust that they bake with large bubbles in the dough(see pics!), and their sandwich combos sound amazing. The guy at the counter was incredibly patient as we spent about 10 minutes deciding(my friend and I were only hungry for one dish). He gave us a sample of their ginger bread(see below), gave suggestions, and showed us in the display window if anything we were considering was there. Ginger bread — dense, a little on the drier side, like the ginger, but even for me, way too sweet! And I have a major sweet tooth! Verde pizza — a-ma-zing! A hearty breakfast-y pizza. I usually don’t like pizzas without margherita sauce, but the pesto base more than made up for the lack of tomato. Loved the sunny side up egg and the crisp, warm potatoes(though kind of soaked in oil.). A little too much arugula I’d say. a little less and the bitter flavor would be more subtle. White pizza — we were majorly considering this one vs. the verde. It sounds really unique, but looking at it through the display window, it looks like about 95% dough and 5% toppings. Looks overly simple, like it doesn’t have much to offer. Star Stream Waffle — we got this at the last minute to satisfy our sweet tooths. GREAT decision. They make it fresh(there’s a big jar of batter) so it’s HOT when you get it. No need for syrup — it’s sweet enough(but not overly so). It’s moist, with a tiny tiny crisp on the outside(ie. not soggy), and just pure deliciousness. My friend said this was the best belgian waffle she’d ever had.

Have eaten here three times since the soft opening last week — yes it’s that addictive! The brioches are incredible, as are the made-to-order Belgian waffles. Not too sweet, very dense dough with a wonderful outer crunch. Sandwiches are interesting combinations of meat & cheese with fresh herbs and fruit compotes. The fig compote is especially yummy. The personal pizzas look amazing, that’s my next try. The environment is clean, comfortable, and fairly spacious. And they serve Blue Bottle coffee — YAY!

Tucked away in between the UCSF mission center and the best buy parking lot, this café is a much-appreciated addition to the neighborhood. Tasty treats abound, albeit a bit on the pricier side given the portions. I would need about three of their artfully-crafted sandwiches($ 7 each) to be full, and I don’t really require a ridiculous amount of food normally. The pastries look amazing, but I did not try any. They have a plethora of cookies and granola bar-esque treats that look super fresh(and much more substantial than the lunch fare options). Their Blue bottle drip coffee($ 2.50 a cup) is done well. The New Orleans iced coffee($ 3.50 a glass) was delicious. I had never had I before, and the barista was kind enough to offer a sample before I ordered it. Two canopied tables and five solo seats outside. Although the solo seats have no resting area for food and are all inline with each other. On the east side, so not tons of direct sunlight if that’s what you’re looking for.

Today was the soft opening of the new venture by the owners of Goody Goodie Cream and Sugar. If you’ve ever had the(award-winning) cookies at Goody Goodie on Folsom Street, or their amazing sandwiches, you’ll be happy to know they’re available now at Starstream, too, complete with a chic italian vibe and tables for relaxed eating! You’ll find there are lots of ways to experience the café. On the go, grab a cookie or pastry. They serve Blue Bottle Coffee. Or linger… there are several tables inside and some seating outside, too. Décor is industrial/chic and very SOMA. There are a few sandwich options made from fresh market ingredients(examples of each of the sandwiches of the day are all on display at the counter) and now, personal sized artisan pizzas, too! Today I had a pizza that was both light and delicious, served ‘white’ with cheese(ack, I forget which kind; I promise I’ll update soon) prosciutto and greens. The pizzas on the whole are of the thin crust variety with a selection of seasonal cheeses, fruits, veg, etc but as I recall, none had tomato sauces) Of course I also got a chocolate chip cookie. Per usual, three quarters of the cookie is chips, and I love that. I’ll be back to try the sandwiches and also, belgian waffles! Stay tuned.
