Neighborhood Japanese, run by Chinese restaurant. This reminds me of Americanized Japanese combo very common dinner. Sometimes I just like that combination, miso soup, rice, spicy tuna sushi, grilled salmon salad. What’s missing is the green tea ice cream, but you can’t have everything. Miso soup was good with plenty of seaweed and tofu, not overly salty. Spicy tuna wasn’t spicy, whicht is the only selection that had sashimi. Grilled salmon had a nice crispy skin attached. Everything was a good portion. I am not a fan of bento box themselves; all the dishes came separately. Salad was fresh with dressing, not so vinegary. Dining was enjoyable, nice atmosphmere to chat and catch up, hang out place, of course this was a weeknight. We ordered one skewer of gizzard and 2 hearts for $ 1.00 each. yum. Green tea was served complimentary. Nice service. Big TV for those fans of basketball.

Straightforward sushi place with a large tv, which is great for NFL/NBA games. This place serves tasty sushi, but you must micromanage the chefs/serving crew if you are particular about your food. For example, we don’t like our sushi slathered in mayo and sauces, so be sure to communicate this. Dishes to get include crazy roll, albacore tataki, and spider roll. Ironically I wouldn’t get the skewers as they were underwhelming compared to other places I’ve been to(meat isn’t marinated and the skewers relied heavily on sauces). I’d come back again for the rolls and the great service though.

Son’s a USF student and recommended this place. Very excited that we found our new favorite Japanese restaurant in San Francisco! I had the lunch Bento box for $ 8.99 and the portions were so generous and very tasty! We also had Sashimi which was so Fresh! Hubby loved the Skewers which is their unique specialty. Mainly, the key to a good establshment is the service. Our waiter, Crazy Simon made it 5 stars in our book. We are definately coming back! Bummed our son’s already a senior, but glad we live close to SF.

I have been to this Sushi Bar a couple times before and the food is pretty good. And I tried ordering online for delivery on Eat24, and it went really bad. I waited almost 2 hours for my food which was cold by the time it gets here. When I called them, they won’t answer the phone which made me very disappointed about this restaurant.

Had this for the first time last night, dinner. Was impressed with how neatly everything was packed, as it was a delivery order. Everything was great: Miso, terriyaki chicken bento box, edamame, etc. The only let down was the Chicken and noodle Udon. The Chicken was really dry and lacking in flavor. Besides that, they were very prompt! I would definitely try this place again!

If you live in the neighborhood, it’s a not a bad place for a cheap quick bite. Nothing special though so don’t come trekking across the city expecting a gourmet meal. This is a good place for Americanized rolls and nigiri with generously sliced low to mid-level quality pieces of raw fish. With the right expectations, you’ll have an enjoyable low key meal with friends here. I liked the cherry blossom roll and the yellowtail nigiri. Wished the spicy scallop roll had spicy mayo sauce on it instead of just dollops of sriracha. I also love grilled chicken hearts, so if you’re a fan of innards like me(I grew up in Taiwan… don’t judge!), this is your chance to get it for a mere $ 1. They also give you complimentary miso soup right after you settle in. Service was fast and one of the waiters here(or is he the owner???) is super friendly and hilarious. Came here on a Sunday night around 8:30PM, and there were a few other diners but not crowded. Not sure if this place is busy during peak dining hours though.

I order delivery from SQwers about once a week and have taken a large family group to the restaurant itself. The experience is always good. The sushi is always fresh and reasonably portioned. Delivery is free. The guy in charge(owner/manager?) was really friendly, fun and helpful with getting the right dishes ordered for a group where some people weren’t very familiar with Japanese food — including some kids. The customer service has been consistently good and if there’s anything wrong they fix it promptly. I once had the wrong order delivered(two delivery orders got mixed up and dropped to the wrong people). I called and they said they’d send out the right order immediately and to keep the first one. So I got to sample a whole other meal for free and discovered some new favorites! It’s not inexpensive but not outrageous for sushi, and the overall experience is worth the money.

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed this restaurant, so decided I should post an update. The service continues to make this a truly special place. Simon, Lee, and the entire staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. They are the reason I’ve continued coming back for birthdays & events, or using their assortment of sakes to get my night started on many of my nights out(that’s me holding the bottle). The food is homey Japanese food — great skewers, noodles, sushi & sashimi. If you stay late enough you can even grab a bite with some of the kitchen staff and enjoy some tasty rice & vegetable bowls. Special note — if you’re looking for a place to host a birthday party & have a blast with friends, give Simon & Lee some advanced notice. They’ll make sure you’re treated right with plenty of drinks flowing & access to the speakers so you can DJ your own party.

I love this place. The sushi is fresh and delicious, and the service is absolutely fantastic. Oh, and the price? You can’t beat it in SF. I love sashimi, and their combo is always on point. The rolls are unique and tasty. Try the Baked Mussels, they won’t disappoint. And obviously try some skewers! The shrimp/bacon is delicious, the fried chicken skin is great, and on an on the list goes. This place isn’t fancy. But it does it’s job right.

Great service, great prices, and portions. Good lunch bento menu. It’s cheap, like 8 bucks. Even better for dinner, more portion but $ 13. Still good though. Good stuff for dinner combo: Chicken katus, tonkatsu, salmon teriyaki, and california roll. Good sushi: Goldengate Roll, Lion King Roll, and Super Dynamite Roll Other good stuff: Their fried salmon and chicken karage.

Got my food delivered on time which is always a plus! However, I ordered Gyu Don, Oshinko, and Calamari Tempura. The beef in the Gyu Don was dry and some parts of the rice were hard. The Oshinko was not what I was expecting(Oshinko roll), it was two pieces of Oshinko on a piece of rice wrapped with nori. The calamari tempura was a-ok. Miso soup was delish! Overall, fast delivery, ok-food, 3 stars.

Great service, very attentive. I had the miso soup, Sunomuno, and 10 piece chef choice sashimi. All were yummy and had beautiful presentation. Ordered the bens roll and lion king to go. Portions were small and just ok, I’m sure if I had eaten them freshly made I’d like it more. Maybe I should have ordered the skewers.

If I lived in town, I would eat here all the time. It’s a little short on ambiance… they have printouts of menu items tacked to the walls. But, the service and food were great. Given the activity for the to go orders, I would say it was fairly popular. I had the lunch bento box. The portions were generous and the food was great.

This is my favorite place to go for both a local lunch and dinner! I lived a block away from it last year and it was the best discovery I ever made. It’s convenient and fairly priced — and I love to come in and sit down, order take out, and even call in for delivery if I happen to be at school or anywhere else. The service here is wonderful and all the servers are so much fun and great company to have around! They really make this place wonderful! I enjoy their specials, their combo boxes and everything about it. I would order anything and everything on the menu!

AWESOME service. The staff was super friendly and welcoming and just down to have fun. Great sake(watch out for the one infused with chili, not for the faint of heart). I thought the sushi was just ok, but everything else totally made up for it. Would definitely go back!

Have gotten delivery from here a few times, and it was okay. But this last time really bumped it down for me. Long story short(er), around 1pm I ordered salmon teriyaki + gyoza for lunch. It arrived at 2:30PM. Quoted estimate was between 45 – 60 minutes, which is fine, but it was literally for the minimum amount of $ and I gave a 20% tip up front, so an hour and a half is too long. I also ordered and paid for a couple extra sauces, and they forgot the one I really wanted — extra teriyaki sauce for my salmon. If you’re gonna take an hour and a half to get lunch over, please remember everything I paid for and deliver it kind of warm. I had gotten the salmon teriyaki before and it was decent, but this time it was really fishy and tasted spoiled. Actually, one of the two pieces was okay, the other tasted completely different, which freaked me out a bit and I tossed it. Pork gyoza was soggy, but I think it would have been good if it was hot, since the flavors and proportions were good.

I went here for dinner with a couple of friends. I ordered the bento box dinner with Tonkatsu and Tempura. We got miso soup on the house but not really since its supposed to come with the bento box dinner anyways. I thought the portion sizes were large. The bento box didn’t come in a box but on a plate. The Tonkatsu was nicely fried and crispy. The tempura was good but I think the potato was slightly undercooked. I also shared a Godzilla roll. I thought it was pretty good. I liked how the roll was presented on the plate. I was completely stuffed and had to take home the left overs. There were plenty of seats during dinner. Service was ok. My water glass was never empty. The wait staff tried taking my miso soup away when I wasn’t finished with it. They should have asked first or waited until the bowl was completely empty. I was going to box my rice with my leftovers but they took my rice away while they were cleaning the table.

For a place called SQwers, I was expecting them to offer more skewers. Granted, I ordered delivery and didn’t go into the restaurant to eat, but they only offered about one or two skewer options for delivery. We ordered through . June 2013 *Chicken karage($ 6.99) *Lunch bento box(Chicken & Salmon teriyaki) $ 7.99 *Miso soup for Lunch bento box *Los locos wings($ 5.99) *Pork gyoza($ 4.99) *Seaweed salad($ 3.50) *Uni($ 7.99), Amaebi($ 7.99) & Hamachi($ 3.99) *Yaki ika($ 5.99) *Godzilla(free w/any order $ 60 or more), Amaebi heads($ 7.99) & Spicy tuna roll($ 5.99) Eh, everything was alright. Nothing tasted amazing nor was it bad. The karaage was crunchy. The ika could have used a little more char. The wings weren’t what I was expecting. Very wet and mushy. One thing to note is that the bento box was called Chicken & Salmon teriyaki. But you get chicken teriyaki and salmon sashimi. Not what the roommate was expecting, but it was fine. Therefore, you get an average review where nothing stood out or totally turned me off. So is the nature of some 3 star reviews. Everything was just A-OK.
