After Hashimoto Gallery walked next door to Spoke Art Gallery. FREE too. They are showing some artwork from the movie Amelie. So cute. I liked it. Photos allowed. Tues-Sat 12 – 6

I’ve only purchased online from Spoke since I live on the East Coast, but thank God I stumbled across this gallery. They have a great selection of art that just kicks ass, and thankfully every item I’ve ordered online has arrived in perfect condition and just the way I wanted it. Can’t wait for you guys to come back to NYC again.

Met Max Dalton at his solo opening last night. Quite impressive prints on display. The theme was Max Dalton Mission to God. The prints were all limited supply. I googled him subsequently and learned that he has done some impressive work. It spoke to me. Bought 4 pieces on the spot. The next day I returned and picked up 10 more. Of course I liked the Star Wars themed ones the best. Bought an extra signed copy for B as he has two boys and is also a fan like me. I was curious about Spoke Art — had only been here once before, that I went to their site and discovered the previous exhibits they’ve done and was quite surprised by the variety they often had shown in their rather petite space. There is a certain vibe to it, this area, in general but also this gallery, that reminds me of Chelsea, Manhattan. The art work is often unique but it’s also less commercial than some other places. It grabs you. My companion for the night, the tall ten year old brought her Moleskine sketchbook as she was at the gallery next door for the Mokeskine project opening night. She showed Max Dalton some of her work, and then told him that she wished that he had a cat drawing. She’s really into cat you see, all her original drawings and sketches are cats. She’s a little artist as well and is well known in her school. Max was impressed and he drew a cat on post-it, signed his name and signed her name and handed to her. She’s so delighted that she wanted to frame that post-it. She took photo with Max, smiling ear to ear. The gallery is certainly a gem in the lower Nob Hill neighborhood. There are good number of restaurants one should check out. The SUP pop up food stall was there to serve yummy shrimp rice and papaya salad. The street was vibing just right. I put Spoke Art on my favorite site to visit. On the day the site went live with Max Dalton’s art work I went to check on one particular print that I wish to purchase that had already been sold out in the gallery, only to find several of his, which I had already acquired the day before, are completely sold out. A successful gallery offers good art, interesting subjects, and rare collectables. It needs to create scarcity. This place has it all. I’m sold.

This is, by far, one of my favorite galleries in the city! They introduced me to my favorite illustrator, Max Dalton, and have annual group shows with a bevy of different artists. They’ve done Wes Anderson themed shows, and Tarantino vs. Coen Bros! So much fun… These guys do a great job

Pretty cool gallery, I’ve enjoyed both The Kubrick and Tarantino exhibits. It is a small space but the art is very accessible and the staff is friendly. I suspect I will be back again, keep up the good work.

Attended my first gallery show here a couple of months ago for the David Lynch exhibition. The space was a little cramped but they sure know how to curate a show! The artwork was truly breathtaking and the prices for the screen prints and giclees were reasonable. With such a diverse lineup of artists, I’m definitely looking forward to their next galley show.

Awesome little gallery. Love their themes, and their variety of different local artists. No, their curators aren’t the friendliest, but I don’t intend on purchasing anything anyways. Walk in, look and admire to your hearts content, and leave.

A tiny gallery with a great eye for up-and-coming art. Unfortunately, they aren’t the best at customer service. I was about to purchase a 2/XX print when I was at their booth at an art gallery fair but they didn’t have packaging ready for a longer walk home so the gentleman there said he’ll «make sure» I got the same print number once it became available online. I emailed the owner soon after to cement their word but word was not bond, apparently, and the«sure» thing turned into a «will try.» When I was finally able to purchase online, they completely ignored my place in line and sold me whatever they had available. The edition number wasn’t that big of a deal this time and their prints are affordable and of high quality, but if they deal with all transactions this way, it totally reduces the likelihood of me buying art from them in the future.

Saw the«Supersonic electronic invitational 2 «show this weekend! Fantastic curator, cozy space, great show, and good vibes all around. What more could you ask for? Quality over quantity– always.

If I was an inanimate place, I would be Spoke Art Gallery. I don’t know who curates this place, but it’s everything I love! They have had incredible exhibits for Arrested Development and Wes Anderson. It may be small, but they make up for it by being prolific on the internet. I’m going to refer everyone to their website for original art, prints, and merchandise every time Christmas or my birthday roll around. I only wish there was a restroom — but I guess that wouldn’t usually be a problem, it only was during the Bad Dads costume party.

I’m glad I finally got to check out this place. It’s very small but still manages to be very cool. The artists that show their work here are very unique and VERY talented! If I had the money, I would’ve bought a few pieces for myself. I didn’t get the name of the man working there, but he was quick to greet us with a genuine smile and, really, what more could you ask for? I asked him about other galleries in the area that we could bike to and he was very knowledgeable and was able to make some good suggestions, despite the fact that we ended up not going to other galleries. I definitely want to come back to Spoke Art whenever possible. I think they just recently opened in Oakland in addition to SF so maybe I will go there sometime! All in all, most definitely worth stopping by when you’re in SF for a day.

I love this place. I saw the Synergy exhibition and it was fantastic. Featuring wonderful contemporary artists in an array of styles. While it is a small gallery, you’ll find it has a pleasant selection and the artists are so talented. Definitely worth a stop in if you are in the area.

I honestly love this art gallery so so much. The people that own and manage it care about what they’re selling annnd have a great sense of humor. I mean, who else can pull off a Coen vs. Tarantino exhibit? Or a solely Wes Anderson films show? And not look silly?! AND be super cool and friendly and kind? They support local artists and great eccentric themes and I love it all. Thank you for the Tim Doyle Festivus print guys! I’ll be back for more once I find the funds.

Small art gallery Been here for the«Bad Dads» Wes Anderson inspired exhibit, and Tim Doyle’s «Unreal Estate» exhibit, and both times were showcasing some great talent. Support up and coming artist by buying prints in person or online before they’re sold out, nuff said. Yes, they do sell out quickly, sadness I lost my opportunity. Be sure to sign up to their mailing list and get updates on their upcoming exhibits/artist!!! Short, simple, and sweet.

I stopped by Spoke Art Gallery with a friend because of the Supersonic Electronic Invitational. I’ve only been to three art galleries total and this one is by far the smallest! I don’t think this is a bad thing, but it gets packed in there really fast depending on what they have in their gallery. Since this was an event, it was really really packed. The workers(or what I think are workers) were pretty accommodating and provided yummy snacks, beer, tequila, other alcohols I didn’t care to look at. I believe everything was free, but they accepted donations. Everything else was provided by event coordinators. Cute gallery! If I’m ever in the area I would want to go in just because it’s so quaint, the people are nice, and they seem to have good taste in what they showcase!

Get it straight, I’m no expert on art galleries. Spoke Art might be 1 of 10 I have ever gone into, most by accident. Not that I don’t love and appreciate art on a daily basis, I just find the gallery experience a bit pretentious and snotty. Spoke, is the the opposite. Fun, lively exhibits that showcase the best in cult lifestyles and entertainment. Went there on halloween while the«Bad Dads» exhibit opened dressed as Steve Zissou. Surrounded by 100 other like minded, a like dressed people really does great things for your soul. I’m glad I left my credit cards at home, or else I would have walked out with a lot of cool paintings and a huge new minimum payment. Got a free beer and a free print to boot. Color me complete. P. S. If anyone from Spoke is reading this, please, PLEASE convince the artist or yourselves to print the«For Esteban» Zissou vs the Jaguar Shark painting. I wanted it so bad but it was already sold just hours into the show.

I have a neighborhood art gallery. It takes some effort to deliver such a statement flippantly in conversation, as if it were no more remarkable than having a neighborhood coffee shop or convenience store, because the very existence of said gallery just steps from my front door makes me feel irrationally, inexplicably cool. For the past few months, however, my relationship with Spoke Art was merely a feeling of coolness-by-neighborhood-association. That is, until Spoke Art announced a new exhibition: «Bad Dads: An art show tribute to the films of Wes Anderson.» My heart will forever belong to Royal Tenenbaum and his bizarre family of miserable geniuses. I defy you to find a young girl in her twenties who didn’t at some point try smoking in her bathroom with a fan tied to the radiator, thimbled finger tapping the porcelain tub, a la Margot Tenenbaum. Who wasn’t madly in love with both suicidal, lovesick Richie and egomaniacal, drug-addled Eli Cash. Who didn’t seriously consider buying a red Adidas tracksuit and sporting a mop of dark curls after seeing how cool it looked on Ari and Uzi — or, for that matter, who didn’t consider naming her firstborn Uzi. Who didn’t alternately channel Margot’s deadpan eccentricity and Ethel’s graceful composure and occasional spectacular outburst. Who didn’t blast Paul Simon’s «Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard» at exasperated families, teachers, and boyfriends for the better part of a year. I love this gallery for dedicating an exhibition to the genius behind that wonderful family. And I would like all of these paintings for Christmas, please.

I happened to be spending the Halloween weekend in the city dressed up as Max Fischer from Rushmore. I heard that this gallery would be showing art inspired by the films of Wes Anderson and was instantly excited! I arrived to find that I wasn’t the only person dressed up as their favorite characters. A dozen or so were just as cool as I was. The art was great and I only wish I could have afforded a few of the pieces. Little did I know, the gallery owner was hooking up a few lucky patrons with ‘Bad Dads’ posters. Those lucky patrons were the super cool folks that dressed up! Holla! Definitely check out this hip gallery. With the Coen vs. Tarantino exhibit, and now a Wes Anderson one; this tiny place will be one to watch.

Took a stroll over here after breakfast at Dottie’s. Adorable small gallery. Stopped by specifically for the Quentin vs. Coen movie art exhibit featuring art inspired by the movies of the Coen Brothers and Quentin Tarantino. They managed to pack a lot of cool stuff into one room. I didn’t catch his name but the guy manning the desk was very pleasant and we talked a bit about the space and upcoming shows. Look for a Wes Anderson movie exhibit in the fall.
