Another Chinese place trying to take some of Allstar and Magic Wok business away. Their foods are all comparable. Low quality in attempt to be cheap. Magic Wok has the advantage of being faster due to their food already cooked and sitting on the steam table. This place is primarily sit in and off free soup.

Great food. 跟在重庆吃到的味道很相近!it’s probably the closest taste you can find in San Francisco. Ordered 毛血旺 the contents are good

Probably the smallest size of boiling fish I have had in US. And not authentic. Not recommend.

I ordered from here for pickup, I asked for everything spicy, only one thing was actually spicy. I’m kinda used to that, but everything was very tasty. The spicy tendon and cumin lamb were delicious, so I recommend those.

I eat here once every 2 weeks or so, order pickup online since it’s around the corner from my office. Never disappointed. Total«Hole in the Wall». Pros: Great food at a super low price, large portions, very fast for takeout, and I have heard pretty decent in authenticity. Staff is friendly and courteous, and gives off that«mom and pop» feel. Cons: Location is in a sketchy neighborhood, and you will invariably encounter street people around the store front. Décor and ambiance when dining in is not great, and I wager the food is not super healthy either, but neither of these qualms is unexpected given the price.

A little hole in the wall but AWSOME food! Hot and sour soup was perfect. They even added garlic to the fried rice for us. Highly recommend

Fantastic food! Traditional Asian delicacies made with traditional Asian style(and just a hint of American style) — simply delicious! Hot dishes and chilled dishes to suit any palette with traditional hot, black tea served at every table! Personally, I would recommend their Cucumber Salad to anyone– it is simple and absolutely de-lish! As with most San Francisco structures, the location is plain and slightly ugly– DON’T LETTHATDETERYOU! These artisans prepare to order and each plate I’ve had there has been awesome! Also, their prices are extremely affordable for all, and their servings are good sized! While it is not stated anywhere on their menu, I would say they truly aim to please! 2 Big thumbs up to The Spicy Garden!

Fantastic Szechuan food — order from the«Folk Cuisine» portion of the menu. Flavors are authentic and spicy, portions huge(even when take-out). Best dishes: silky tofu with fish fillet of sole, beef and pickled mustard green soup, sautéed vermicelli w minced pork, tofu w chili pepper. I prefer this place over Z&Y because of superior taste, larger portion size, cheaper prices, and fewer crowds. I’m guessing the negative reviewers stuck to the more Americanized dishes. Since I would never order that, I can’t comment.

The food is nasty and bad service, they don’t even have lemon… never come back again

My go to Chinese delivery place. Order the exploding chicken, ma po tofu, string beans. Huge portions(exploding chicken is two containers), quick delivery(usually 30 – 45 min), and is truly spicy food. Delivery is also free. Would not rec picking up as its in a pretty sketchy h part of town.

Overall, below average. If I had to use a word: bland. /business which was only 5blocks away still took 65mins to drop off food. /particularly disappointing: walnut prawns(soggy and covered in some kind of mayo sauce).

tldr: for authentic Szechuan food, get the meats in flaming chili oil or the dry hot pots. Big portions, super cheap, and amazingly fast delivery. This was the first Chinese restaurant I ordered delivery from when I moved to SF last month and it was easily the best decision I made that week. I got the house special fried rice, seasonal bok choy stir-fried with garlic, beef dry hot pot, and as a nod to my Americanized palate, sweet and sour pork. Everything was generously-portioned and the beef hot pot is so big it comes split into two containers. I liked everything and will definitely order delivery again.

I’ll keep this short and sweet(and sour): The only reason I came here was because the lunch meeting I had scheduled at work was cancelled last minute, therefore, I had to fend for myself. I was in the mood for Chinese food and decided to give this place a shot since it was pretty close by. I can get much better Chinese food at the Safeway deli down the street from my house. I’ll just leave it at that.

A hole in the wall Chinese food that is the BOMB.COM! Okay. Count me in! I came here as I was in San Francisco and I was in the Mission area. After glancing at the menu that is displayed outside. I noticed that there prices were really reasonable… I just couldn’t pass it up. As I walked in, I was greeted right away by the workers. There was seating available right away so I didn’t have to wait. They start you off with some tasty Cucumbers… OMG! whatever vinegar seasoning they put on it is BOMB! I was asking the workers for the secret and they was holding out on me! They responded, «No secret just cucumbers». But NA, NA, NA I’m telling you, they put something on them. They have yummy appetizers and a lunch menu! For the portions they provide the prices are amazing! Once we ordered we also got a hot and spicy soup! It was good… but nothing to brag about. What I ordered: ~Lamb and Rice(rated: 3⁄5) ~Kung Phở Chicken and Rice(rated:5/5) ~Steamed chicken with sweet and spicy sauce(rated:5/5) ** A must try** EVERYTHING was so good and the portions were huge…(enough for 2 people guaranteed). From the outside the restaurant doesn’t look appealing but once you walk in you can definitely smell the good food cooking. With plenty of seats and great workers! I am definitely recommending this restaurant. Oh! Don’t worry Spicy Garden, I will definitely be back to try more of that good food on the menu!

Not bad at all. Four stars for their Spicy Beef in Hot Oil and three stars for the Three Cups Chicken. If you do take-out, however, make sure they pack it really well for you. I nearly had an accident in the car because the waitress put a soupy dish on the top of the pile and it spilled all over.

We came here on a Monday night around 6pm and walked into an empty restaurant. There was no music in the background, so we chatted quietly too awkward to make much noise. Anyways, we ordered several dishes to share. Lamb Skewers: comes with 4 pieces, spicy, very delicious Spicy Fish Filet w/Flaming Chili Oil: favorite Szechwan dish! definite must, but don’t let the fish sit in the oil for too long, it gets really salty Yangzhou Fried Rice: strange, this dish usually contains barbecue pork, but the restaurant made it with spam. Eggplant w/Garlic Sauce: pass, the eggplants were slightly undercooked Chicken w/Explosive Chili Pepper: pass, the chicken tasted like popcorn chicken from a boba shop I’m pretty sure this restaurant is family owned and the cook is the mother. She was so nice to come out to ask us if the food was good and if the fish was spicy enough for us. Next time, I’ll probably order take-out to avoid the awkwardly empty restaurant and the walk on 6th St.

Wow wow wow Unilocal. What on earth happened here. I ordered delivery(even though I live a block away) after running across the reviews on Unilocal.I was so excited! To think, I had lived next to a mecca of delicious spicy Chinese food. I had never wanted to enter due to its relative emptiness and proximity to the porno theater, in addition to the the fecal matter and urine lining the streets that make me lose my appetite. Maybe I just ordered the wrong items? But here’s what I got. Pork Belly with Garlic and Spice: 0⁄5. I had expected those lovely tender chunks of pork belly glazed with garlic and spice. YUM. What I got was a soup that was mildly spicy at best with cold, unappetizing thin and chewy pieces. None of the sauce was picked up either — it was very bland. Kung Pao: 2⁄5. Whoever wrote this would be so spicy they sweated does not ever do sichuan or Indian. I specifically asked for spicy(two times — once in writing and once by checking«spicy») in the request for delivery. It was bland. String Beans: 3⁄5 — Probably the best of the dishes. Dried and pretty spicy. String beans alone weren’t enough to sustain ourselves so my husband and I ended up heating up some Costco linglings potstickers. Those were pretty darn good actually.

My bf and I went here for lunch when we were in the city. It was conveniently located about two blocks from our hotel. I ordered the egg drop soup and the fried rice both were delicious. My bf got the pork w cabbage which is a lot more traditional for the region– it was good but a bit fatty and oily. This def a hole in the wall but very tasty.

When you big babies who complain all the time about«those people» get over yourselves, come on down to 5th and Mission, which used to be a Ramaytush village. It’s a village of a different type now; the Village Of The Damned. However, every village has to have a place to eat. If you’re brave enough to get there, you’re brave enough to eat there. The Kung Pao Chicken made me sweat and cleared my sinuses, and that’s good thing. You have to love a place with dishes like Pork Intestine Stir-Fried w/Explosive Chili Peppers, Chong Qing Mao Xue Wang, and Flaming Spicy Kidney. The vegetarian dishes don’t have such interesting names, but I plan to try the Shredded Potato w/Hot Chili Pepper and Dry Sautéed String Beans. Friendly staff, homey atmosphere,(and safe, you wusses). And you get an adult portion, with tea, soup, and appetizer for under $ 10.

Way too salty, too oily… Did I mention too salty? I felt like I was licking a salt stone! I had high hopes for this place when I reviewed the menu on Unilocal.I called in and placed an order for spicy beef noodle soup and a side of potstickers. Was given an estimate of 10 minutes. It was perfect since it was a 10 min walk from my work. Arrived to see that it was a busy restaurant full of construction workers… Perhaps a questionable sign. Got back to work to eat and on first bite realized how salty the soup was so I poured it out and try to eat the noodles and beef. Unfortunately the soup and oil had coated each and every noodle and it was still too salty. The potstickers were alright. Tasted like they should.
