Specstones Studio

My partner and I had quite the experience here. First off, I do have to say that the materials they offer are great. We are extremely happy with our choice of hardwood and the tile selection. It’s probably the best things in our new home. With that being said, our interactions here have been unbelievable.
We were promised a certain hardwood floor nosing for our stairs. We received the actual wood but when it came time for installation realized that they had not actually fabricated the nosing. We called Specstones and they said «whoops, we dropped off the wood but not the nosing.» Ok, so an honest mistake. Fine. No big deal.
After waiting two days, no one showed up to pick up the wood at our house and so I had to call to see what happened. Ok, honest mistake number 2? Even this was fine.
Then, after picking up the wood we received the fabricated nosing in a complete different color. We called and tried to explain that this was the incorrect nosing and that it was completely different in color. Despite having our designer and contractor agree that this was completely different in color, specstones actually tried to convince us that we were out our mind and that this was surely the same wood. One of the managers told us «not to worry, it would look better installed.» We refused. This was insulting.
I took it upon myself to call the fabricator. They agreed that this was not the same stained wood. So, mistake number 3 turned out to be a misrepresentation and completely lie.
I tried to call the individual I was dealing with and ask for a solution. I never heard from him. He did, however call our contractor and told him that he was out of luck and that we would have to go and get our own nosing at an extra cost. Our contractor, being the best guy ever, helped us to get something else (still not matching entirely, but closer than the nosing we received from specstones.)
So, fast forward four weeks. I now have received 6 or 7 invoices that are incorrect asking for payment for wood never used, and to add insult to injury, the manager refuses to even return calls or actually speak to us live. We have mismatched wood stairs and no one even bothered to offer us an explanation or solution at that time.
This whole experience, which started great quickly took a turn for the worse. It’s amazing how attentive everyone was when they wanted our business. Once that first invoice was paid, what a whole different attitude.

Great selection of many beautiful, modern tiles. The space itself is spacious and wonderfully designed. Barbara and Edwin provide great customer service. When I told Charlie what I was planning to do, he suggested a different design that I liked and will be doing instead.
Wonderful place and selection. I highly recommend it!

I had a fantastic experience with Specstones Studio. I highly recommend going here for your tile needs. The customer service I received from Anika was absolutely superb. They have beautiful product, are very efficient, can make great recommendations and just make the process easy. After dealing with many vendors and contractors in my remodel project that have been flaky it was so refreshing to work with people who are professional and kind.

After visiting just about every tile place in SF and Berkeley/​Oakland I finally decided to give my business to the fellows at Specstones. They had a wide and varied collection and were very helpful. The Calacatta Gold marble tiles look great in my new bathroom.

during my remodeling, i have visited many established and some not well know tile suppliers. i found Specstones carries an out standing collection of high quality designer tiles with very reasonable prices. some of the tiles are not found in many of other places. especially its owner, charlie, is extremely helpful. if you are looking for a high end and a unique look with high quality material, you stop by to check this place out. the prices are much better than the design centers.

They have averything you can ask for as far as modern and very clean looking litle choices. The studio is very clean and welcoming, sellers are very friendly and professional. I really recomend this studio for your next renovation or project.
