Great space and interesting artists. When I asked if could bring my students(aged 16 – 17) in here, they told me that because of liability, they discouraged children from visiting. Not sure why an affiliate of the SFMOMA can’t afford to properly insure their art work, and also not sure why a public gallery would have a ban on minors from entering. How many tipsy adults troll through the space during openings?

This is a great gallery with a range of artists, from not-quite-yet-discovered to established. The people who run the gallery are knowledgeable without a hint of snootiness, and the prices are reasonable, especially during the warehouse sales, which tend to be popular events. For some of the art, they do rentals, so you can live with the art for a time to be sure you love it before buying it.

SFMOMA definitely has its unique flair. Museums of a similar genre I have been include Tate Modern, NYC’s MOMA, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, etc. SFMOMA is by far the best in terms of presenting arts that are close to our heart. Its broad definition of «art» definitely helps them achieve this. One of my favorite exhibits is «How Wine Became Modern», which goes back to how wine was created, and allowed views to smell the scent of over 10 wines. The photography exhibitions are generally good. SFMOMA beats the others in terms of its variety. Exhibitions range from«The Steins Collect: Matisse, Picasso, and the Parisian Avant-Garde», to Google’s logo designed by school kids. If you happen to be in the Bay area, SFMOMA is a place you wouldn’t want to miss.

Drink wine and look at art … cool. Some of the art is fantastic … other works, not my style. Lots of art on tables to flip through in one room and stuff displayed on walls in the other. I wish they had more sculptures and 3-D stuff. The mousetraps made out of credit cards was very neat! If I lived closer I’d come every day of the 4 day sale because they keep replenishing … If you do find something you like, snatch it up fast … the place got busy and crowded with some very motivated buyers. But alas, I’d just spent $ 400 that day on paying the DMV for their mistake, so no art for Kat this year.

Great selection of contemporary pieces. Gallery employees are helpful and warm. Provide rentals and sales. Yearly sale is a steal!

Unfortunately, when I went the walls were empty. For a second, I thought I walked in the wrong door. Then, I was immediately greeted by one of the staff and was informed that they were in the middle of re-organizing their exhibit for an upcoming show. I was told to feel free to go upstairs and browse through art pieces they have available. And so suddenly there I was, without any supervision, surrounded by literally hundreds, maybe even in the thousands, of cool, amazing, art pieces done by Bay Area artists, all within my reach. The only problem was they were all stacked up against each other, so I had to actually pull them out of the rack in order for me to look at them. It felt like the flea market or the swap meat of art collection, only these were actual tasteful art pieces, not like those done by smokeshop scratchers! It is a non-profit gallery. It should also be noted that they RENT art pieces. Yes, rent! If you feel like test driving some of the art first before making the actual purchase, it’s allowed and encouraged. I thought that was great! You can find your perfect art piece from $ 50-$ 5,000 or +. Heck, I even saw some were marked down 50% off. I’m looking forward to seeing an actual exhibit next time I come back.

OMG! So I finally got to go to SFMOMA, they have great art work from local artist. I thought that the photography exibits by Harold Eugene and Micheal Stevenson collection if im not mistaken. Were lovely! For any inspiring artist this is the place to go to. BUTBEAWARE with the gallery security, they are hardcore filipinos(I don’t mean that in a bad way at all im filipino myself), they show no mercy when it come to your«too close» to the art work. One lady said so loud«EX-A-CUSEMESIRDON’T POINTTOTHEARTWORKDERISNOPOINTING!» Seriously I was laughing my brains out. I felt like I was 4 getting in touble with my grandma. Great Gallery I’d go again.

I stopped in on my way to Greens to say hello to a friend, who told me he worked at this gallery. You would probably never even notice it, unless you’re already into the SF art scene. It’s tucked away in Fort Mason, pretty much next door to Greens. Very cool little space featuring all kinds of pieces, the pieces in the lobby area rotate every once in a while. All the pieces are by local artists, and there is so much stuff that much of it is not displayed, rather, it’s in racks upstairs. Take some time and browse, I personally like digging through all the photography :)

Nice little Art Gallery. I went here after going to the Threadshow. Didn’t even know the gallery existed! Nor was I aware that people can rent art from the gallery.

The space has a lot of potential– but browsing for art is quite difficult. Most of the large pieces are stacked up against various walls, making it pretty inconvenient to browse for the perfect piece. Similar to Hang, this gallery allows you to rent artwork(monthly rates) before you decide to buy– a great concept for those who want to experiment with different pieces without making a big financial commitment. This gallery would definitely benefit from creating an online catalog of all of its artwork and artists. Worth a look if you want some large pieces for a loft or big wall space.

I can’t believe I’m the first to rave about this gallery! They put on stellar shows of local, emerging and established bay area artists AND you can rent art work. Yes, you can rent before you buy or just rent it and return it. The staff are art-knowledgeable, cool, wonderful and no snobbery or pretentious ‘tudes. The location of the gallery at Fort Mason(not downtown, sfmoma proper) makes for a nice bike ride destination(or go on a walk at nearby crissy fields…)
