This is a pretty comfortable environment. I like the stage and the outside patio. The liquor is good here, great prices. They make the drinks very well. Every wednesday is open mic with Kollin Holtz. Its a comfortable setting. He’s very chill. The comics are very encouraging here too. Open mic starts at 6pm. Its a great location and perfect time.

Ok the most disgusting bar. Came here for a fun night, I saw people being tortured, the bartender Asked if we were having shots, told him I wanted two Washington Apples, he said he wanted shots he didn’t have to shake. If they are too lazy to pour a decent shot, they shouldn’t be open.

Not sure what people expect when you head to the eagle. But fantastic place to go for a beer on Sunday afternoon. You’ll not find it likes a pretty place. It’s can be dirty and not the pretty place that some folks thinks it’s going to be. But he’ll a fun place. People are cool. Overall. Best time. Sunday afternoon

Not only is the staff great, I left an item there this past weekend with my ID, debit card and phone inside. The staff ensured that it was collected and made available for me to pickup on Monday. Thank you to the eagle staff for being considerate and conscious!

So, the idea is lovely and fun and sexy but the staff is rude and pompous. They told us that we had to move away from the bar because we had finished our drinks and weren’t allowed to stand there without new drinks. Umm… what?! Don’t got here. These people suck.

Hey it’s nice to be in a GAY bar where guys aren’t bringing their fag hags and hetero friends, hardly anything is gay sacred in SF anymore. Crowd is friendly, good variety of beers on tap and SUN on the patio! None of the pretentiousness the Midnite Sun can have whew! GAYGAYGAYTHANKYOUPLEASESTAYTHATWAY

When I moved to San Francisco several years ago, I thought of the bars, «Ugh. Look at all these cramped spaces. Dingy, dirty décor. Filthy bathrooms.» And in gay bars, «Ugh, *another* pee trough? Do I have to be on display every time I need to piss?» Now it feels like, in places like SF Eagle, some bars are too big. I come here often on video game nights, a Tuesday event where video games are put on big TVs and projection screens. Lots of people come out for it, especially on a Tuesday, but the bar is just too spacious to socialize. Other bars like Hi Tops have this problem, too: basically people stick around little clumps of friends and interact that way, instead of, say, in Mix, where there’s just enough room on the patio for you not to fall into the arms of the person next to you. In that way, you end up talking to half the people there. Which isn’t to say this is a bad bar. The bartenders are really nice peeps, and they look understaffed, so props to them for dealing with us. My favorite is this daddy bartender who is extra patient when I make up drinks for him to invent on video game night. Thus far, I’ve tried: ~ «Power Up» ~ «Rainbow Road» ~ «Turbo» ~ «Donkey Kong Country» … and a «Princess Peach,» but apparently, that one was just a Sex on the Beach.

One of my friends got me to start frequenting this place. They have a large space, and they’re almost always rolling out new events. I usually encounter the events by chance more than planning, but they’re happy coincidences nonetheless with plenty of eye candy. Their patio is heated as well as host to SF’s largest beer bust weekly. If you get into the beer bust, don’t leave, you might not be able to get back in. It’s a maximum occupancy thing, and I get why they have to do it, but it sucks anyway. However, they won’t sell you food unless you buy a beer cup, in spite the fact I’m making them more money paying full price for my cocktails, The bouncers are also pretty friendly. Though, one gripe they have control of was charging me to get back in when I went and grabbed food. Most bars won’t charge you to get back in if you just step out, but I was, which was a little lame.

It just goes to show what happens when I have both a Saturday & Sunday free,(a rarity due to my line of work), I end up at The Eagle. On a chilly, Saturday night, I attend UBeard, complete with fabulous Christmas lights, Dos Equis, on tap and fetching go-go boys. Sunday, afternoon, I attended the«Faerie Beer Bust»(my first Sunday, Eagle, beer bust in 10 years), and have a great time, with all sorts of guys, comfortable in their own skin. Although, The Eagle has gone through changes since it’s closure and re-opening, it continues to be an accepting place for all.

I was here for a special event, the Be-Robin-A-Thon, a charity function to raise money and awareness for the homeless. While I did not bring anything to donate, I threw whatever cash I could into the donation box, a nice handful of crisp dollar bills. I made it rain like only a poor girl can. While it wasn’t the most packed event I’ve ever been to, there were a reasonably large number of people crammed into a tiny space by the inside stage. A lot of pushing and shoving and no «excuse me“s. The outside stage was even worse. It’s sort of like an outdoor patio courtyard type of place. Everyone was smoking! Cigarettes, cigars, and uh… wacky tobaccy, too. I’m not against people using recreational marijuana, but at a bar? That’s pushing it. Many of the bigger, taller men muscled their way to the front to get a better view. I’m about 5’10», so it didn’t bother me that much, but my friend is closer to 5″ tall and couldn’t see anything. They didn’t seem to show any remorse. I’ve gotten better about asking tinier folk if they want to stand in front of me. Everyone deserves a chance to see the stage. I didn’t like that there was only one bathroom stall(unless there is a secret second restroom hidden somewhere else). Waiting in line to use the restroom, especially a few drinks into the night, is pretty unpleasant. I’ve never peed my pants yet, but there have been a few close calls. Ha, talk about TMI Tuesday. Despite the imperfect atmosphere, I met Margaret Cho. She was lovely. A little bit drunk and very busy. We didn’t really get a chance to talk at all(she was constantly swarmed with friends, fans, performers, etc) but she let me take a quick photo with her before she swooped off into the night.

I would give the Eagle 5 stars if it weren’t for the cigarettes everywhere! Cigarettes, cigarettes everywhere! There is no way to get away from it unless you go inside … and if you know The Eagle, why would you want to be inside. Especially on a Sunday Beer Bust day. I’ve been a patron of this bar for over 20 years and have had some amazing Sundays here. And I was incredibly happy when it reopened after being closed for over a year. But lately the smoking outside has become absolutely unbearable. The attitude here is that if you don’t like breathing cigarette smoke, then you should just leave. This is a really sad reality. Especially 50 years after the Surgeon General said that smoking causes lung disease and it’s now well known that 2nd hand smoke is dangerous. Smokers here will light up and blow smoke in your face and nearly burn you with their lit cigarette and it doesn’t matter where you try to take refuge. Heck, I’ve actually been burned by their cigarettes being carelessly waved around. Even if you’re in the more covered parts of the bar, like the pergola style cover, where the airspace is even more confined. I’ve also seen people light up INSIDE at the back bar, which is an INDOOR space just off the back patio. And no one says anything. But if you’re someone, like me(and my friends), who doesn’t wish to breath their smoke… well, then it’s just up to you to find some place else to stand. The management of this bar doesn’t care because they are all smokers and want to be able to smoke anywhere. It’s really sad for those of us who are not addicted to tobacco. Because there is no place for us to enjoy ourselves on a sunny Sunday afternoon, except for the dark, mostly empty interior of the front bar. I would like to see the management set up the UPPER back patio area as a smoking area and not allow people to smoke elsewhere. Or at the very least not allow people to smoke under the pergola, since the airspace is so confined under there that it’s almost like an indoor space. Now for the reasons I give this bar 4 stars. Great place to hang out with your friends on a Sunday afternoon. Well priced drinks and friendly sexy bartenders. A really amazingly diverse crowd of hot men and complete freaks. A very nicely done space too. A lot of history here as one of San Francisco great Bohemian and Leather Gay Sunday Beer Bust spaces. I hope it stays around forever!

It’s an important stop on the leather bar scene. Recently reopened. Came here on a Thursday and Saturday. Saturday was more happening. The service is SO friendly! I loved it. Soccer matches on at the bar. A back room for trysts is separate from gender neutral ones on the other side which is convenient. Great back patio. Overall, very friendly, sexy crowd that felt like home… But way hotter. Check out the art!

Last night was my first night back to the Eagle since it reopened. There aren’t many bars in San Francisco where so many different ages and types of people mix so naturally. Live music on Thursday nights. I never get tired of Pansy Division.

Went during a Sunday beer bust, was amazing. I also ended up here after the the Folsom fair, was amazing. I love bikers and daddies, this was a heaven for me! Gotta come back soon. The bartenders and door guys were all very nice. They have a good selection of alcohol, limited restroom indoors. The outside men’s urinal was kind of stinky. The patio is an amazing place to be during summer!

Beautiful space. Recently renovated interior. Brand new pool table. Amazing patio with space warmers and a fire pit. Their parties, which they don’t have often enough, are the best of the best. Bootblacking by Scout is available on Fri night, Sat night, and Sun afternoon. Always fun! On Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons you can see some really heavy leather there, which is always a treat. They do more to support the community than any leather establishment around, except possibly Mr S. Also, their security is professional. If you’re trans-bashed, femme-bashed, groped, or have any issues, just go to security at the door and the offender will be history.

Gorgeous huge patio that soaks up the sunlight during summer months, but even in January, the heat lamps and the giant barbecue beneath the stage keeps things toasty. Three different bars keep everyone well-lubricated and the crowd is a mix of daddies, leather folks, and assorted neighborinos, with everyone tending towards older and whiter. Limited beer selection.

Location: good spot(hard to catch a cab when leaving) Venue: fantastic what they have done with the place. Changed the bar inside great job! Smoking: should be only in one section of the patio as not everyone smokes. This day and age smoking cigars or cigarettes should not be allowed at all in bars. It turns peoples stomachs. Door guys: super friendly Bartenders: this is where things go bad. The bartenders are the worst. Super rude and slow. One huge thing that turned me off was a «manager guy»(bigger guy) was walking to the back employee area on the patio and was forcing himself through the crowd even though there was plenty of room. He was pushing people out of the way. This was so unprofessional. I am so sad to see this rude behavior in a bar. I know it gets crowded but there is a way of working your self through the crowd. This is a huge reason I will not be back anytime soon. He did this twice that I saw and was pushed once. This place has huge potential but on a bad path.
