I love Sat and the the Satori Dance style. The classes that he offers are in a great space that is not pretentious and makes you feel at home. The music he plays is progressive and I really enjoy the atmosphere that he creates for learning movement and dance. I have taken dance classes in the past, and one of the things that I appreciate about the way that Sat teaches is he creates a space for you to explore your own movement, even if you have no idea what you are doing. This is a big deal to me, because sometimes when i have danced with men(jn a class setting or even just out on the dance floor) I have been uncomfortable due to my lack of skill, or the men just being overbearing. Not with Sat; with his extensive training in belly dance and other styles of dance, he knows how to move and teach movement without making you uncomfortable. The body mechanics he has taught me has made me more confident as a dancer and has helped me become more fluid in my movement. Sat is very mindful about inviting women into the fold and not pushing himself into your space. He has taught me so much about how to dance with others socially, as well as how to be mindful of boundaries. He is starting an entire movement where social dance is learned and practiced by both men and women. The entire philosophy and teachings with Satori Dance Style has inspired me. I am always excited to get to class and see what Sat’s got for me to learn and try out. He is really on the cutting edge of something and I am so thrilled I found him and get to learn this amazing style of dance and be part of this movement!

I’ve taken Sat’s class a number of times, and he has a fresh valuable perspective on dance and has taught me a great deal about my body and connection to people on the dance floor. He also has a strong focus on the mechanics of the human body and what he has taught me about posture and movement has not only improved my dancing but rid me of recurring lower back pain. The studio itself is spacious and beautiful, with enormously high ceilings in a big open space and huge mirrors lining the wall so we can see what our bodies are doing. He has charts of the human body on the wall so he can show you how you’re put together and how your bones stack up and joints move; it amazed me how much being conscious of these things can change the way I dance and move and feel. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also got great music and sound and is teaching dance for practical use– to go out to clubs and dance parties and be more skilled and have more fun than ever! Sat has a real passion for dance and for what he’s teaching, and a mission to make people better dancers and better able to connect on the dance floor– both to have fun themselves, and to make it a more welcoming space for others. Doing that is far more important to him than making money, which is a great thing to have in a teacher, and why he offers the first class free. You should check it out; you really can’t lose!
