I see you guys passing by and stare… don’t just stare! Be adventurous and try their freshly made baked goodies. Seriously, I was once like you but oh I regret not coming here sooner. Staff is always helpful in answering any of your concerns and I can tell they love what they do. I’m a pretty huge custard anything girl an I’d say, their custard filled mini pies are just the best custard consistency I’ve had!!! Just the right amount of sweetness and their crust has the right texture. Mmm~ So good! One my first visit, one of the ladies suggested getting this rice textured cake and ohhh… she was right about getting that. Sweet and a bit cheesy but that rice texture is divine. I’ll be back to try more stuff! Gotta bug the lady to see what she’s gotta offer me. Definitely 5 stars for them. Mmm~ custard pies and rice cheesy cake…

Disguised behind the old visage of Lido’s Bakery, Salvadorean Bakery has been my favorite incognito bakery on San Bruno Ave. Tired of all of the Asian-style sweet buns and treats, I wandered in here one day with a «Why the hell not?» kind of attitude. Having been to Lido’s in my high school days, I wasn’t expecting much from this new bakery. Thank goodness I went in, because I was totally wrong. This place is amazing. The pastries and baked goodies are flavorful and really hit the sweet tooth. I initially didn’t know what to expect from a Salvadorean bakery, since I was used to the panaderias in the Mission, so I asked the lady at the counter to pick her favorites and toss them into a bag. I received an empanada-style custard pastry, a cookie with raspberry jam on top, a cookie reminiscent of a biscotti, and a little colorful loaf. She packed them up and said«$ 2 please.» Wait. What? Two dollars?! As in eight quarters? As in what I lose everyday in loose change? Yeah. Two dollars. I got a bag filled with delicious, sweet baked goods for two dollars. Now, I sure as hell didn’t know what to expect. Could a pastry worth $ 0.50 be all that great? Or did I just stumbled upon the greatest kept secret on San Bruno Ave. Let’s just say in the span of walking five blocks, I ran out of pastries.

Perfect for picnics or post-work pick me ups. This is right on San Bruno so even easy to find free parking or hop on and off the 8x muni line. Fruit-filled cookies or ahn pan looking sweet breads are amazing choices! I can always look to walk out with a decent and yummy bag of cookies for less than $ 5. :]

I love this little neigbhorhood bakery. I love their apple turnovers. They taste even better when it’s just out of the oven. Price point is reasonable for 6 turnovers it was $ 7.90. You would walk by because it looks very old and the displays are also dated, however when you purchase your pastry you will know it’s heaven. They have a couple of small tables if you want to have a cup coffee with your pastry.

OOOOOO man! I love love this place! I remembered a few years back, this place didn’t even exist in the neighborhood. It used this other bakery that stood before this this wonderful Salvadorean bakery. The old bakery seemed really old and it always was full of old looking cakes and pies displayed on the window. everything i walked by, i never wanted to go in because it looked empty and nobody goes there. i never really noticed and cared about that bakery… Then, one day, a miracle happened. I was walking as always, and out of no where, i see this bakery that wasn’t there before. I looked inside and saw the friendly looking lady owner and saw dozens and dozens of amazing and little pastries and cookies. Soon, i realized that this is where the old looking bakery used to stand and that it has been remodel. My friend and I came here the first couple of weeks it opened, and we tried out a lot of their different cookies and pastries and let me tell you, they were all delicious. So glad for the existence of this place. The owners are very friendly and the pastries and cookies are so cheap and delicious.

I came down here during the first couple weeks of its grand re-opening? Anyway, I love their pastries and their cookies especially! I would usually get them fresh before heading to school and when you eat them freshly baked they are so good. Today I was craving for some of their cookies and I didn’t have anything to eat at home for breakfast so I decided to revisit the place. It changed a little on the inside but not significantly. The same workers were there and as I can recall not much has changed from their selection of baked goods. I got four of my favorite Strawberry cookies and I was excited to go home and scarf them down. It wasn’t fresh, but it was soft as I took each bite. I have to mention the price is very reasonable and you should pay this place a visit if you’re on a budget and want to taste some scrumptious Salvadorean pastries. Now I wish I had some milk.):

My mom and dad know the owners here, they go WAYBACK. the ladies who own this place were born in El Salvador and previously worked at another very popular Salvadoran Bakery called Pacita’s.These ladies know what they are doing, let me tell you. Not only do they know what a good sweet bread from El Salvador taste like, but they had previously worked in an establishment just like the one they own dad has a crazy obsession with their bread, he goes practically every other day to restock. I guess it reminds him of the things he would get when he lived in El Salvador. I love their Maria Luisas, their quesadillas, and their tres leches!

For the past few days the old Lido Pastry in my neighborhood has been undergoing a transformation. A hand written sign that said«Panaderia Salvadorena» was first posted on the outside window about a week ago and fresh baked rolls covered in plastic wrap went on display in the opposite window. I noticed the new blue banner that says«Salvadorean Bakery» added to the façade of the building on Thanksgiving morning. There was a long line of customers inside. It was as big a group of people as I’ve ever seen inside that little bake shop. When I passed the little bakery on my way home in the afternoon, the store had finally emptied. The display cases which featured different cookies and breakfast pastries have all been replaced with delicious looking Salvadorean baked treats( ). I spoke to the lady behind the counter and she told me they had bought out the previous owner and for the time anyway is sharing space with him at this bakery. The old owner of the Lido Pastry only has his whole fresh baked pies and cakes on display. All of the treats looked very good, but I was still full from having an early turkey lunch. I haven’t quite learned the name yet but they have these little fruit pies( ) which are little cookies with several different fillings; I think there were five different fillings in all. The lady told me the translation was actually«little fruit pies». I bought one of each of the strawberry, pineapple and custard to take home. At 40 cents apiece these turned out to be amazing. The cookies were very flavorful and moist with lots of filling. I bit into the pineapple one first and loved it so much I devoured the other two immediately. There is a sugar coating on top of each cookie, but the cookie had few crumbs and held together very well even with the thick pocket of filling in the middle.
