Don’t let yourself be fooled by the crowds. Eggs Benedict, overdone. Fries with the burger: really bad

Came in for a casual lunch. The menu looked VERY promising(I kept saying, «why does this place have 3 stars? All of this menu looks delicious… We’ll need to come back to try it all!») But… Then the food came. There was a lot of potential(Mac & Gruyère cheese, French onion Gruyère soup, beet salad with goat cheese), but unfortunately they all fell flat. Not much of taste(added salt to everything… Never do that) and overall it was just«ehhhh…». Didn’t finish it all, because it just want that good. If they keep the menu items but redo their recipes, would maybe go back. Until then, there’s better lunch food nearby. The environment was casual and welcoming — many people working on laptops & reading the paper. Nice place to get some work done.

Picked up a quick lunch here. I wanted to be on the healthy side so I got a soup and salad combo. Soup of the day: veggie lentil. The salad was a bit on the salty side but still pretty good. There were some tiramisu pancakes on the menu that looked AMAZING… but probably for another time. Pricier than I would like for lunch, but of the other choices in the area, I’d come back here again cause the food was good and there was very nice service.

Boo over priced and just average. I ordered the kale and Romain Cesar salad for 15.99 and it was average at best

We used to come here often, originally because it was close to our preschool and was good for kids, with decent food offerings. Our first trip back in several months was a disappointment. Prices have increased, and the quality of the food has not. My BBQ brisket sandwich was 15.50, the meat was cool, and the bun was crumbly and did not taste fresh. The pommel frites were good, as they always have been. Kids’ meals are not listed on the menu, so prices are a mystery. I asked for a kids’ milk with my son’s grilled cheese(I thought a kid-sized drink used to be included with children’s’ meals), and was charged $ 3 for an 8 oz cup with perhaps 6 oz of milk in it. The response when I asked about the very small size and very high price was incredibly rude. It is too bad that this place seems to be trying to make itself more upscale(at least in the price and food-description department), without significantly upgrading its food quality, service, or atmosphere. It is certainly less child-friendly than before.

While I like the atmosphere of this place the prices are really ridiculous in relation to the portion size and the quality of the food. I paid 20 bucks(incl. $ 2 tip) for a small croque Madame which consisted of ham + melted cheese between 2 pieces toast + 1 fried egg on top and really small mixed green salat. I live in the city since 16 years and I’m well aware that restaurants have to raise their prices to cover their high leases but this is just way to overpriced for what they offer.

This restaurant is overrated and overpriced. We had lunch there today, a party of 5. 3 of us got their food served first and the two others had to wait 20 min to get their pizzetes(small pizzas). One of the pizzas was not well cooked and the dough was slightly raw. Plus the portions are tiny, and I’m French so I’m used to smaller portions but the ones we were served today were really too small. A bad and expensive experience overall, I do not recommend this place!

Sunday brunch. No stars. I came with two of my daughters for brunch today. We sometimes stop for lunch, but not that often. I ordered food with Jusmine. I ordered 2 French toasts from the children’s menu, extra bacon on side, pancakes for myself. Kids size drinks were $ 3, adult size drinks were $ 3.30. So, I ended up paying about $ 40. The French toasts came kind of ok, the whipped cream on one was completely melted into milk. Bacon came cold. My kids asked me why is the food comes like that? I did not try my pancakes, but for $$ you would think the look and taste should be decent. No, it was not… I came to the front and asked why the bacon was cold. Jusmine looked at me like if I was demanding something from her. She gave the bacon to the people in the kitchen and ask to heat it up. i said that I was expecting fresh bacon, not heated up in oil multiple times. When I got back to my table, my kids say that today’s breakfast was not tasty at all. My pancakes got really rubbery after 4 – 5 minutes. I went to find some maple syrup, but the tiny glass jars were almost empty and so greezy, I did not want to handle them. I went up to Jusmine again and asked her to speak with the manager. She said that she was the manager??? I asked to give me her business card — she did not have it. I asked her to give her last name– she did not give it to me. I asked her where I could complain, she said that through the website. I checked the website, but there is nowhere I could complain. We are not coming back there. It’s just a convenient location when you want something to eat, but the service stinks. I feel there is no good manager behind this place. The prices are high, but the quality isn’t there. Its supposed to be French café, but the quality and the custome services are zero. Stay away or go to other places for food.

I used to like this Bistro. I have eaten many times here, today will be my last visit. The women at the counter, strong accent, bun in her hair was so rude and didn’t represent this café well. I asked what was in their branded potato chips, what kind of herbs? She responded with a shrug of her shoulders and said their chips I don’t know. She did not make an attempt to ask anyone, she just starred at me, I responded and said it doesn’t seem like you care, now her hand is on her hip… One of the servers did try and could figure it out. She was pleasant and tried. I am a allergic to certain herbs… So I purchase my coffee at Starbucks, I was trying to support a local business. Sad that this place is not like it used to be.

It is pricey(expect $ 20 a person) but in 2015 most food in San Francisco is. It is French-themed diner food with an awkward seating area. But the offer brunch on M-F until 3PM ! Gluten free notes: They have gluten free bread, sandwiches, breakfast foods like eggs, salads.

I’ve been here a lot recently– the food is consistently solid, and most importantly, they have been great with my daughter. I consistently order their sole dish– its great! If you like sole, you’ll enjoy this plate with mixed greens and some smashed potatoes. I’ve had a few other good plates, but I keep coming back to this one. The kids menu is reasonably priced and has a nice assortment of options– pizzas, chicken, sandwiches, and more. I’d rate this restaurant a 3.5 overall, but rounding up on the kid-friendly scale :-) We’ll be back…

When you walk in, «an amusing little café» is painted on the wall. If you stick around long enough to order, you’ll find out just what makes it so amusing… Half of a cold French fry in your chopped salad! Why? How??? I hope for my sake it wasn’t left overs from someone else’s plate, since it wound up in my mouth. On a more serious note(although that really just happened), I used to love their chopped salad. In the last year they’ve changed it completely. Different(worse) dressing. Different(worse) marinated chicken, and less of it. Less bacon. And more expensive. All in all. Not the worst salad I’ve ever had but definitely incredibly sad and disappointed about the change. Won’t be going back :’(

really sad that this place went crashing downhill. items i USED to obsess over: 1. eggs florentine with croissant bread — they now charge extra $ 2 for croissant, otherwise you’ll get sourdough. 2. grab and go sandwiches perfect when I’m in a rush. — the mini baguette changed. downgraded. 3. my favorite tuna salad sandwich — AGAIN changed the bread from thick buttery slice to thin hard sourdough, the tuna salad no longer had the apples, but now tastes like it’s overdosed with relish. i used to pay less than $ 10 for this and now it’s $ 15. if it was as good as it was back then, i wouldn’t complain about the price hike. 4. french fries — you cannot go wrong with fries because i love fries that much. this time– it was hard to chew. stale? perfect side to my relishy tuna salad sandwich. 5. my other fave smoked salmon pizza — just completely off the menu. otherwise, still a friendly staff.

Yikes what happened to this place so disappointing! This used to be my go to spot when I was wandering around Laurel Village. Yesterday I took my five year old to lunch and the food was awful and CrAzY expensive. I had a Kale salad for $ 14 and the kicker was there wasn’t any kale in it was just lettuce and dressing! And when I inquired into the lack of kale they said oh the chef didn’t get any today. Wow at that price you would expect the best salad you had ever had! My son had a grilled cheese on white wonder bread and stale fries. All to the tune of $ 24.00! And when my son asked the server where the kids play area was she looked at him and said kids are dirty and have germs we didn’t want to be spreading the measles. Really that’s the message you want to communicate to your customers!

Tables setup a bit differently, like a Café at a Bus Terminal. Seats seem a bit flimsy at best, especially the one outside. No Paris seating here! The music is nice and relaxing at least. The Staff was somewhat nice but do not go to far out of there way. If you want water to drink, help yourself. If you want ice you are now going to far, good luck. Service was fairly fast, and the food was good, but pricy. Would you believe 17.00 for a regular hamburger with cheese… geese!!! The salad dressing on the lettuce was very tasty and done well. Thh it only contained lettuce and dressing, nothing else. For that price a few cherry Tomatoes, some Onions, a croton or two… After your served good luck if you need anything else.

My wife and I shared Eggs Benedict, almond croissant, mini canele and a mocha. The total was $ 26.76 plus tip. It seemed a bit steep for a one entrée breakfast even in an upscale area of the city. The food was good and it tasted as though they used high quality ingredients, but it wasn’t outstanding. After eating at Rigolo, I can understand why people are so upset about the prices. To add to the sticker shock, we had to order at the counter and the service we received was only okay. If this were a sit down breakfast, the atmosphere of the restaurant was stepped up and the service was at the level as you find in France, I wouldn’t have minded paying the higher prices — though in France, this meal would have cost about half what we paid. The only way I could recommend this restaurant is if they dropped their prices by about 25%.

Rigolo was a nice find! Pleasant food, great service, and lovely ambiance. I walked in on a Thursday evening around 6:00pm, and was one of only a few diners. I was seated immediately, and felt totally comfortable dining solo. I ordered the burger with a side salad, and was pleased. The burger was cooked just right — juicy but not pink, and the bun was tasty. The side salad was good, though a bit heavy on the dressing. The wait staff was very polite, prompt, and friendly — I was impressed. The space is cute — the black and white umbrellas hanging from the ceiling are lovely. It’s a bit pricey — I paid $ 20 all in for my meal(just a burger with a side salad, no drink), but I guess that’s to be expected in SF these days. Overall, a good spot!

Ok, I’ll admit, it’s not like they didn’t advertise their prices before I ordered. I knew this was going to be an expensive lunch going in. But $ 21 for a decent chicken sandwich and a very mediocre cup of soup is just a little too ridiculous. I get the sense that this place is trying to separate itself from your basic café, by playing up the French component, but other than calling their french fries, «steak-frites» and maybe a croque Monsieur, i’m not really seeing much in the way of true French influence here. Far too expensive for what is essentially a decent café in a nice neighborhood.

Too expensive for what it is. Came here for lunch and dropped $ 22.50 on just eggs Benedict(includes small citrus salad) and a vanilla latte– WHY. For that price, I expect huge portions or my mind to be blown. My mind wasn’t blown. And I could have eaten more after I cleaned off my plate. Food was totally mediocre. Breakfast is served till 3 pm. In short, ridiculously expensive meh food, and the restaurant smells funky. 7÷9÷15 Came here again to grab a vanilla latte. It was nice that the cashier told me that both small and large sizes come with 2 shots. I opted for the small. The latte is quite good, although still quite pricey($ 5.15).

Sad to see the recent changes to the menu. This was a local favorite of mine but now they cut the menu down, substituted bad items in, and bumped their prices way up! $ 4 extra to add bacon or mushrooms to the Mac and Cheese… What happened to this place? It’s just a typical SF over priced menu now. Doubt I’ll be back now.

I have lived in sf for over 20 years and rigolo has the worst food I have ever had in this town. I asked for eggs Benedict; the eggs came out hard boiled, solid yolks. I asked them to redo it: they undercooked two eggs and put them on the same bed. The«hollandaise» is a thin, bubbly white foam with no flavor. $ 18.

Rigolo is my neighborhood daytime social gathering eatery. During the day you will find young moms with their toddlers or simply moms dining over salads while their children in school. I occasionally come here for brunch or a lunch meeting when working from home. Rigolo has always been kid friendly with a play area in the back and toys in the waiting area. It really is sophisticated California French Cuisine. They have everything from Tuna Salad to Macaroni & Gruyère, to Burgers with Frites, Kale salads and Fish entrees. The Brunch menu is great with gourmet omelettes. On this particular occasion it was getting late in the afternoon and I thought I’d just drop in and pick up my favorite apple and brie baguette express sandwich. When I looked there were not any in the case. The girl behind the counter explained to me that they changed their express sandwiches. I was bummed. There weren’t any pre-prepared sandwiches I wanted. Then I remembered that I had two free sandwiches left on the Belly LoyaltyApp that I had earned from frequenting Rigolo and her sister restaurant, Artesano. Rigolo has a new menu and ordered the BLT with avocado and salad(you can have it with frites). When I pulled out my Belly App, I looked around and it was gone. They had stopped using the program. I was whammed for the second time in a minute. As I pulled out my wallet, the owner/manager who had been in the background and was listening first offered me a free cookie which I thanked him for and then changed his mind and comped my sandwich! How awesome is that?! In a big city it is great to still get neighborly treatment! i’ll probably need to go get brunch there Sunday morning!

Came here for the first time today for breakfast. My friend and I both ordered the smoked bacon eggs benedict with avocado. Unlike most eggs Benedict, this one comes on a toasted croissant(versus an English muffin). I thought it was pretty good, hollandaise sauce could have been more flavorful. For $ 16.50, pretty over priced for breakfast that you order at a counter. Also my friends food came about 15 minutes after mine. Definitely docking stars for the price and service.

I wandered in here one day because of the free wi-fi perks and I needed a quick bite to eat. To me it was a Panera Bread-type experience with a french twist. Some of the menu items were a little strange, slightly over priced. The ambiance is great. There are black and white umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, interesting art found around the room and it is very bright and open. The service was good, all of the employees seemed to be enjoying themselves. I ordered the open-faced spicy chicken sandwich. I didn’t really know what to expect, but it was alright. A little heavy on the aioli and cheese in my opinion. It came with a side salad that was soaked in dressing. I don’t think I’d eat here again, but might stop in for a coffee and hang for a bit.
