I funded a kickstarter that had a group of us forage for fennel with Angelo and then make fennel cakes with him at the forge. What a Renaissance man! His passion for food and sharing really shines; Angelo is incredibly amiable and sweet and intelligent, and because of this, a wide array of interesting people congregate to him. The forge is incredibly unique, light and airy. I had an amazing time with him and look forward to any upcoming classes he may be offering.

I had a small decorative iron grate, from about 1890, which I wanted to convert into an end table. Basically, it needed to have 4 iron legs welded onto it. Angelo, at Renaissance Forge suggested that it be done with decorative legs, to pick up the design elements, and with cross pieces, to add strength and stability. He estimated that it would take two weeks. After a month, I got impatient. This really small job took more than 3 months, about six times longer than the estimate. When I went to pick up the table after all this time, it didn’t have the cross pieces. Basically, it had four legs welded on — probably a few minutes work, for which they wanted $ 600. Even though Angelo did much less work than he estimated, he wanted the full price he had quoted three months earlier, and wouldn’t budge. Because he now had my antique as a hostage, I paid him, and left with my table.(Which does look nice.) But overall this was an appalling experience.
