Best kept little secret next to Jones, another best kept little secret of a bar(my second favorite in the city, because of its name), in the middle of tenderloin. I hosted a get together at the Armory Club and my gf went to it, and then came to Jones with me, and she said, «And to think you could have had it at Jones.» And to think, I could also have popped on by at Ramon’s, just next door… Sick and tired of the usual suspects and wanted something that reminds you the city is a city and not the burbs? Come here. This is not Chelsea, but this could be the Meat Packing district in the making, just like Mission was like the West Village once was. You will notice my analogies will always be New York. San Francisco is a gentler version of New York City. It is not my first love like New York but it is the longest love affair I have ever had to-date. And if you know me, I value ever lasting love affairs. Others enjoy the thrills of discovering something /someone new, I dwell on and flourish in affairs across decades. As a wise GF once said, they don’t make new«old friends» any more. A small gallery like this one serves as a reminder why I love this little city so much, even with an older lover, you can still discover plenty of new. This little gem reminds us, the city is in transition, and romance is not dead, not even in Tenderloin. Go to it: Heavenly Walk exhibit is on. Ask the artist about her journey in this besieged neighborhood, now perhaps the last remaining neighborhood that is experiencing gentrification, ever so slowly. You must.
