I popped into Queens nails without a app. and they got me in right away. I was recommended by a friend, and her nails and toes looked great. The prices are very cheap, i got my toes done, they did an awesome job for only 15 dollars, and I’m definitely going back for some Shellac.

Having moved to the neighborhood from Berkeley via Santa Cruz, I was looking for a good place to get waxing. It is always tricky to go to a strange place for a Brazilian, but I decided to give these gals a shot, as I was desperate(as in 9 months pregnant, and not feeling like going back to my regular peeps in the East Bay). I have to say that they were awesome — quick, efficient, very thorough. It is not exactly a full-on spa environment, but very clean and very comfortable, and downright luxurious for the price — $ 30, including a decent tip. Oh, and I didn’t have an appointment, so they were busy when I walked in, but gave me an option of several times later in the day, so I got it all done within an hour of what I was ideally hoping for. Since I live up the street, I’ll be going there for more Brazilians & my occasional pedicure, for sure.

I love getting my nails done, it’s no surprise. Every other week, I’m pampering myself with touch ups on my french tips and a pedicure for my toes. Knowing the right places to go is the key. I get french tips and I’m extremely picky about who does my nails. I have a regular shop that I go to and guy I see — but when I found out he was on vacation, I needed another option. My friend recommended Queen’s, which I popped in about an hour before closing without an appointment. Kim was really fast, did an excellent job and was friendly. I switched up the color and was very happy with what I got. Although I am pretty faithful to my regular nail shop, I will come back to Queen’s any time.

Located in the Mission Near Bernal Hieghts the last thing you are going to expect to see is some fun art that is well thought out and fairly involved. If you see a show here expect there to be a mess. Physically or intellectually you’re liable to leave with something on you when you visit here. Technically this is more an art project space than a traditional gallery but that doesn’t mean they are any more serious. The work here is challenging and features shows and performances that are in your face at times. On first glance they seem wacky, offensive, or inexplicable. In other words they are usually pretty fucking fun if you come with the right attitude. If you’re looking to buy art some of the work is pretty inexpensive ranging from a couple hundred to a couple thousand and depending on your sensiblity well worth it. As far as art goes Queens Nails Annex is one place where the rubber meets the road in project-related art experiences around San Francisco. Take Bart to 24th street and bus, cab or walk to the Bernal Heights section of Mission & Valencia«for something exciting and new».(…Yes… I am quoting the Theme from Love Boat.)
