Try two things: 1.) Chicken noodle soup 2.) Curry Chicken noodle soup Service: Very minimal

I have no idea why I never reviewed this place. I’ve been here so many times but never got the chance to write a review for this place. This place is DABOMB! The wait can be long at times depending on the days but usually you can get seated pretty quickly. My boyfriend and I always come here to get our bun ga(chicken phở but with the vermicelli noodles) and the carpaccio! Carpaccio is so delicious! The raw beef with the fish sauce and lemon is just superb! I would die for this seriously. Their rice plates are pretty good too! The five spiced chicken?! Nommmm! Seriously, if ya’ll never had phở or had a bad experience with eating phở, you should try this place. This place is seriously my go to whenever my boyfriend and I feel like eating phở which is like ALWAYS! lol. Service is great also. I definitely will be back here soon! :)

Service is quick and the seating goes by fast. We came with 3 parties ahead of us, but we waited less than 8 minutes and got seated. We all had phở which is what this place is best at making. I had the chicken phở — broth was tasty and lots of noodles and chicken. Generous portion around $ 8. The total came out to be around $ 28 for 3 people which isn’t bad for lunch :) Parking may be a little harder around here, but there’s lots to check out if you do find parking. This place is also cash only.

If I’m not feelin’ Kevin’s noodle house, I like to switch it up and come here instead. Parking — it’s not bad. There is tons of metered and residential parking. Service — ehh it’s okay. Kinda spotty sometimes. Food — I always order the small tai bo vien and it def fills me up! I really like that they use the wider rice noodle compared to other places. Really good consistency too! Usually these type of noodles can easily be over cooked but this place has it down I would say. The broth is a little oily though… but there is still a ton of flavor. Definitely will be back!

Solid chicken noodle soup(Phở Ga). Juicy tender chicken + rich chicken broth. Another great Sunset neighborhood joint.

One of my favorite vietnamese noodle soup places. My favorite by far is their Duck & bamboo noodle soup. I’ve never seen this on the menu anywhere so I tried it and fell in love with it. Duck is cold but comes separately on it’s own plate. What you do is dip the duck into the sweet tangy sauce and eat with the warm noodle and soup. YUM. From time to time I get their Chicken phở which is their signature. Really flavorful clean broth. Perfect on a cold day. I’ve also tried a few other things on the menu but they are ALL good. My mom got their grilled pork rice plate and normally she gets upset how burned, charred and dry the meat is but they grilled it perfectly. Don’t expect too much service, it’s a small place, get in, enjoy your food, get out.

I’m crazy about spicy food, so if there is an option to make my food spicy even just for a little bit, I would. I have only tried the satay beef phở here, but I keep coming back for it. It’s SO good!!! It’s slightly spicy. The beef, tomato and the peanut sauce? give the broth a slightly thick consistency and it’s very flavorful. Unlike just the regular beef phở with the clear broth, there is a lot going on in the broth. So if you are not a fan of that, don’t order it. I think it tastes so good with the ho fun noodle! However, the place is a little bit understaffed though, so the wait is a bit long sometimes. They have forgotten to bring me a water/tea a couple times but they are just too busy. I’ll still come back again though!

I’m not typically a phở ga kind of man. I enjoy the richer taste of phở dac biet, but after tasting the phở ga here, I don’t think I can order anything else. I’ve never in my life had such rich chicken broth before. I’d like to work here just to learn their secrets. There chicken in the phở was also excellent. It wasn’t dried out or rubbery like other places. On top of how great the food was, the prices were incredibly reasonable. This place does have many of the quarks of a family run restaurant. Although there were several people walking in and out of the kitchen, i think there was only one cook and one server working. The others seemed to just be there to hang out. In between severing, the waiter did lunges and used the counter to do stretches while yelling to some customers in Vietnamese. There’s just something really loveable about all that.

3.5 stars. My friends have been talking about Quan Ngon since the day I moved back to the Bay Area. I finally had a chance to visit and all I can say is… their noodles are amazing. They taste so fresh in the phở and it’s probably one of the best-tasting noodles I’ve had. With that said, the service that day was incredibly slow, and the restaurant had this dirty feeling. I was not thrilled about being there… not that I need a five star atmosphere but bad service can really dampen one’s experience. I would give this place another try, but needless to say, I was not impressed by anything other than the noodles. Oh and they do not give bean sprouts or jalapeños with the phở.

All I have to say is Omfg. The Curry Chicken Phở will actually change your life. They have cubes of cut up potato that are soaked in the broth and it is seriously unbelievable. The only downside is that the chicken pieces are still attached to the bone, so there are small bone fragments floating in the broth. Definitely come here for the Curry chicken phở. The first time I came here they were out, and I ended up getting the regular chicken phở, which was good, but nothing compared to the curry chicken. Don’t forget, it’s CASHONLY! There are ATM’s on both sides of the street.

I usually come here on cold and rainy days to enjoy a big bowl of their Phở Ga(chicken noodle soup). Overall though, this place is just alright… Let me explain: The good things about this place is that the phở is cheap and it’s pretty good. Instead of the thin noodles phở is known for, they use thick noodles, which I actually prefer. The phở comes out relatively quick and hot. The soup is filled with the right amount of flavor and it doesn’t taste like there’s any MSG in the broth, which is a plus. The bad things about this place are that it’s not always consistent in quality and the service isn’t always good. There are days(not often) when the broth is a little bland. The servers aren’t always the friendliest and they always tend to «forget» things we ask for. Another downside is that besides the Phở Ga, nothing else really stands out on the menu.

My go-to spot whenever I’m back home. I always get the phở ga with intestines. It serves as the ideal upset stomach or hang over food. The noodles are thicker than your typical phở noodles, more like Chinese style hoa fun noodles, which is a rare find but tastes so much better. The mixture of intestines are gamey and crunchy, but works well with the tender chicken in the soup. Today I tried the bun rieu, it was pretty good! The broth was not over powering with tomato taste, it was just right. They are very generous with the amount of noodles given but stingy on the crab balls. Nonetheless, I was stuffed after eating my size small bowl. Don’t forget to try the imperial rolls!

If you are someone who doesn’t want to drive all the way through Golden Gate Park, fight 19th Ave. traffic and then try to find parking on Geary St., then Quan Ngon is a great alternative! They have my favorite wide noodles that Turtle Tower is known for and the service at Quan Ngon is quick as well! I don’t know how I missed this place all these years as I grew up in the Sunset! Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures as I was so excited for my food but I usually get a small Phở Ga(Chicken phở) and prepare a dipping tray with fish sauce and a few slices of jalapeños. This pairs well with the pieces of white meat chicken in your soup! Their small portion is great for a lite lunch or breakfast. This place seats around 25 people at most, it’s easy to miss as its surrounded by dim sum places and a bunch of other restaurants on Noriega. They haven’t ran out of the wide noodles yet for me but it’ll be a sad day if it ever happens during my visit.

Pretty good Phở place on Noriega. I personally like Phở in San Jose better probably because there’s more Vietnamese people in my area. This place serves decent Chicken Phở, not too bad actually and it doesn’t taste like it’s from instant. The noodles are thick and the soup tastes just right. Service is pretty quick and I recommend not going during peak hours as it does tend to have people just standing at the door watching you eat. Overall my girlfriend’s family is in love with this place and I’m just ok. I prefer the Phở in San Jose but then again if I’m in San Francisco I’d come back. Cash only!

I had a good take-out experience here. Ordered the PHOBO and the VEGETABLEPHO for about $ 8 each. I found the broth to be more on the vinegar side which was interesting. The meat was delicious and the noodles flat, lots of bean sprouts and lime on the side. The place was p-a-c-k-e-d with locals which is a good sign, no? Parking can be tough but I’d go back here!

From the looks of the food and the name of the restaurant I had the mindset that Quan Ngon was one of those places that was very Vietnamese, but when I walked in all the servers and customers were speaking in Canto. Lol I guess this area of the Sunset is pretty Canto, in the vicinity of ABC Café, Mong Kok Dim Sum, and Cheung Hing. Unlike most Chinese places that have overwhelming menus of endless glossy pages with colorful photos, Quan Ngon featured a simple menu inclusive of all Vietnamese comfort food – phở, rice plates, vermicelli bowls. [BACKGROUND] Being sick but being adamant about going on a Unilocalventure, chicken phở seemed the most appropriate choice for eating out and I found Quan Ngon via Unilocal.(Asian chicken noodle soup? Yes please!) [THENOMS] The phở was quite on point, with a flavorful balanced broth, not too fatty or salty, and excellent with the noodles. It could have used more chicken and onions, but overall it was satisfying. We ordered both the large and a small chicken phở($ 8.50/$ 7.50), and the larger one was in a bigger bowl but it seems that they just split it more or less evenly into the two bowls. And just a warning, the jalapeño toppings are spicy!!! I don’t think remove the seeds, and I was too excited about the vitamin C toppings to notice; I ended up literally crying. They serve hot tea without water so I just cried more T-T We also tried the 5 spice chicken rice plate($ 8) – you could hardly taste the 5 spices… so it was more like 0 spice but it was tasty roast chicken nonetheless. The portions were generous: if you want more chicken I would strongly suggest this, as the phở only gives you a few pieces of chicken hidden in the noodle soup. [THEVERDICT] Much better phở and 5 spice chicken than anywhere in the Inner Sunset. [AFTERTHOUGHTS] Honestly I had my doubts with their iffy health score… but alas, my love for food prevails and it was phở adventure time despite being sick and despite any risks with mediocre health scores. Quan Ngon turned out to look decently clean – there’s a bit of the hole-in-the-wall feel, but more in the sense of feeling family-owned feel than being unkempt and dirty. Lastly, a tip on parking: the immediate area looks formidably like the Richmond with metered parking and few open spots, but if you go like two blocks down into the residential area it’s easy street parking.
