Great Resaurant in a nice neighborhood, I put this on my list of to do’s when I go to San Francisco. Good food and service.

A fun quirky restaurant with home cooked style food and a pretty decent wine selection. The décor is quirky with video game tables and at the same time a home dining room and kitchen feel. One of the tables in the back has a tree growing through the table. My favorite dish is the Mac & Cheese with Tator Tots. The food was decent and was reasonably priced.

The calamari was pretty good in there and I loved the artistic feel in there. Too bad that restaurant closed down. R.I.P., Q — you will be missed. Gone, but not forgotten

The macaroni and cheese with tater tots was amazing! I went a few times and loved it both times. It is fun because the macaroni is curly q shapes and they have letter magnets you can spell things out with on the wall. It sounds like something that only children would enjoy, but it is quite fun. I also had wine one time while I was there and it was delicious. I wish they were still open so I could try other things on their menu.

…Wish you could have stuck around Q. We’re going to miss the great service and food on your menu. Thanks for your recipe for that delicious sangria!

So sad this place is going out of business at the end of the month. I had to make one last stop in before they close their doors and I was pleased with the meal and service I received during my stay. I sat at the wine bar area and ordered a glass of chardonnay, which I paired with the roasted brussels sprouts and smoked onion appetizer, which was truly scrumptious-I ate the whole thing! For my main dish, I had to get their macaroni and cheese with tater tots. Everything was seasoned so well that it didn’t need the accompanying ketchup and hot sauce the waitress brought me. I hope that Q’s owners have a happy retirement, and I hope the next restaurant to open in this space can fill the shoes of Q as an excellent establishment in the Inner Richmond.

Although the host and servers are really sweet the food was quite average for me. Their famous tater tot mac and cheese… sounded divine but I was not as taken with it as most reviewers appeared to be. Everyone has their preference for a m&c but I personally found it too saucy. The tots were lukewarm and reminded me what my elementary school served during lunch time. This is something you can whip up at home — perhaps better. It’s very kid friendly so it’s great to have dinner here with the entire family. Perhaps they’d enjoy that mac and cheese. I keep hearing about their brunch so perhaps I’d come back another time for that.

The brunch crew was on the prowl for a spot that had good eats and a line that was manageable. The boyfriend and I were the first to arrive at 10:30, and we were seated right away for our party of five — this was absolutely THE fastest wait time ever, mainly because the wait time was just us waiting for the rest of our party. Amazing. Isn’t that an automatic two stars?! Their décor is interactively fun — the entirety of the wall is a giant magnet board, and they just slap on a bunch of alphabet magnets. You know EXACTLY what that means. This place gets another star because they serve TATERTOTS. I don’t care what anyone says. Tater tots are clearly one of the best foods in the world, and Q’s tater tots are delicious. You can order a bowl for an appetizer, and they come out crispy, hot, and glorious, just as tater tots should be. In fact, I was so psyched for the tater tots that I sort of forgot what I actually ordered as my entrée. One downside for me is that this is one of those places where they don’t accept substitutions. While I am picky, a lot of my choosiness has to do with my food allergies, so while I really wanted to try some things, I was shy/afraid of asking for a change in the recipe. In the end, I picked one of the few items I could actually eat without substitutions, and it was all right. I would have definitely gone for anything else on the menu, as everything sounded like it would be a good time, but alas. The boyfriend ordered their special French toast, but did that thing where you SAY«French toast» and then POINT to «special French toast», so if you’re not paying attention, you miss it. Definitely more of a my-bad on the boyfriend’s part, but the staff was so awesome that they changed it for him anyway(plus side for me, because while their regular French toast with fruit looked yummy, it did have pineapple, which I’m allergic to). It was a good call, because that special French toast of theirs was pretty much divine. Overall, the food was pretty good, but I think this is one of the best brunches I’ve been to in my short stint of brunch-hunting. Our party was well-served by an excellent wait staff, the food was good, the atmosphere was perfect — we could actually hear our conversations. It was on that Sunday brunch that I understood the whole point of Sunday brunch: to relax, talk with friends and acquaintances, make new friends, have some great food… and just have a good time. We’re definitely coming back in the future. Plus points: the Farmer’s Market was going on at the same time, and even so, parking was not bad at all.

Delicious, delicious, comfort food — wanted to try everything on the menu. I had the ribs which were great, and I ordered them hot which they absolutely were. Don’t go for the hot if you’re not ready for it. My only wish is that there were more options for side dishes so that, between myself and a friend, we could sample everything. Décor and all around vibe/service were refreshing too. Overall enjoyable and will definitely be back for more.

Been here a handful of times with friends and the boyfriend. Good place to go for some comfort food and a good late time 2nd dinner with friends. :) I have tried their: Mac and Cheese PLUS Tater Tots: good ol fashioned, hard to mess up, great way to get in your carbs? :) I am biased especially when there’s a place with great Mac and Cheese… also. add the bacon… just do it. Beer battered catfish: very heavy but pretty yummy with a special yummy chili-aioli Duck confit: warm and comforting. served with fried polenta(my favorite!) and goat cheese This place definitely exudes fun, it isn’t exactly gourmet but it brings some great memories for me. Do the mac and cheese… just do it.

We went there for brunch. I ordered their Mac n Cheese with Tots. Honestly i got hyped about this dish from their Unilocal reviewers. Im not sure why they said it good or whatever but after i tried myself i crashed in disappointment really bad. Mac n Cheese for $ 12 and extra Grilled Chicken for another $ 3. Spent brunch for $ 15 you must be expect something worth like that. Taste like Mac n Cheese and Tots frozen! Even Mac n Cheese Kraft Velveta Cheese taste much better! The Chicken is plain no taste at all. Its flat, hard and really dry. Aaaaarrrggh, feel like i just threw my dollars to the trash! All those 3 stars is for the service. Very friendly host, and an OK server. So, yeaaaa i can’t just give 1 star for them. :)

Where to go when the wait for Burma Superstar is 1 hour and you need to celebrate a friend’s birthday? That is the Q. Q is the answer. Per the birthday boy’s suggestion, we decided to come here and check out this playful take on traditional American cuisine. The much hyped up mach and cheese with tater tots instantly captivated my eyes and I couldn’t look at any other menu item the same way. It’s exactly what it sounds like, and you have the option of throwing bacon or chicken on top. A «classy» take on a 4th grader’s favorite meals. Unfortunately, they didn’t live up to the hype. The portion is relatively small, so if you come even mildly hungry, you’ll devour the plate within minutes. The sauce is delicious and creamy, but nothing extravagant. Chicken is dried out and just sprinkled on top instead of mixed in with the mac & cheese. For $ 16.25, it’s far from worth it. You can easily prepare the same thing for 10 people at home with the same budget. Drink selection is extensive, with many local breweries represented. Marin IPA is perfect with starchy comfort food. Big props on the magnet board, letting imaginations run wild. It can be a hazard, though, with inappropriate creations being made while kids eat nearby. Team Bombay Sexathon FTW. Q is fairly casual and down to earth, with a little bit of hipster thrown in. Servers are really chill, friendly, and willing to give you suggestions. Most of the employees seem delusional and in their own world. Overall, though, I’m not too impressed.

4 stars for the brunch menu! I love that there are numerous vegetarian options. I ordered the Eggs Florentine with tater tots. I wish I was told that it was $ 1 more, but I didn’t mind. Who doesn’t love a good tater tot? My friend got the chilaquiles and she enjoyed them. Next time, I’m going to order a pomegranate mimosa when I come back for brunch.

January 5, 2014 Sunday — dinner 6PM 3 adults Atmosphere — 5 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Love going to Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. A great way to find places while on vacation. Atmosphere — Parking was a bear, I drove around the blocks like three time and got lucky as someone pulled out from in front of the place for me. Eclectic vibe, love the color of the table and the magnets on the walls. In the Triple D world I would put this into the Diner category as they had counters for people to eat at. Food Drinks — I went with the Clown Shoes Chocolate Stout. Nice and thick, what you want in a stout. Appetizer — None for us tonight. My Main Course — I had the flank steak which had a great pesto sauce on top. I could eat this steak every day. Cooked to order the way I asked Dessert — We order two for the three of us. The first desert was the chocolate chip cookies which were warm and crumbly. The Apple Crisp was perfect, warm heaven on plate. Service — Great waiter and funny. Future — Oh yeah I will back, maybe not this location but other locations.

I have two active kids. Eating out with them is like a game of chance. You’re basically risking exposing to the public your bad parenting skills when you’re in a restaurant trying to control a cyclone of crazy. Imagine trying to feed someone on a roller coaster. And feeding them is the easy part. Q is the type of restaurant that has magnetic letters on the wall, weird stuff in the glass covered tables to scrutinize for ages, and mac and cheese served with tots. TOTS. It’s a magical place that inadvertently caters to young children while also entertaining hipsters and Clement Street locals alike. That’s a challenge for any restaurant, and Q succeeds with a good-natured ease and a welcoming staff. Not to mention their brunch is very tasty. I had the fried green tomato benedict, which was the special of the day. The only negative thing I can say is that it is a horrible place for a diet.

This is a gem in the Richmond district for some yummy food and drinks. I heard about this place a long while ago but didn’t get a chance to try it out until recently. The décor is very playful and the food is very homely. I always like places where the seats against the wall is just a long bench – makes for keeping an eye on your things easier, or squeezing in 1 – 2 more people to your table. There’s a lot of other fun things things you can do around here included going to the yummy bakery, going to the fish shop, or to the various local dive bars to turn the volume if your day up(or down?). Highly recommend Q bar for food and drinks. By the way, there are a good amount of tasty beers on tap if you’re into the wine thing.

We ended up here on a Monday night because B-Star just down the street was closed. The folks at Q were very friendly and seated our random(and growing party) of 7 in the corner tree table. Not the easiest table to converse around(or share food), but fun nonetheless. I loved all the appetizers we tried … more so than my grilled salmon entrée(whose flavors paled in comparison). The calamari, chicken wings and brussel sprouts were all excellent.

Comfort food hidden in the city! They have mac n cheese with tater tots! What!!! Heaven! Note to self: come here to carbo load for the San Francisco Marathon! Came here with my friends to play some catch up. The restaurant is small, quaint, and cozy, just like their comfort food! I got the meatloaf with string beans and mashed potatoes. Delicious! Truly warmed my heart, more importantly my belly! My friends got the fried chicken and mashed, mac n cheese with tater tots, and salmon sandwich with a side of Asian green beans. All looked very delicious and scrumptious! The sangria was tasty! We did not get dessert because we were all stuffed! Definitely a place to find amazing«southern» comfort food. The restaurant is pretty clean. I like the ambiance because it looks like«a home» with pictures on the walls that you see kids hanging their drawings on the fridge. The staff is friendly and give great recommendations. You definitely feel right at home at this place. I think this place was featured on the Food Network, I think. Oh well. I recommend coming early because the wait is rather long. We waited an hour for our seats, but the food, the service, and the food are worth the wait! Get ready to chow down!

So much better when you come here with lower expectations and there’s no wait for brunch. I couldn’t decide on what to eat so we agreed to order a special and a regular brunch. Pretty damn good brunch options here. Had the brunch special yesterday of bbq pork ribs w/jalapeño slaw, baked beans and garlic fries. The fries weren’t garlicky at all but the jalapeño slaw was delicious, as well as the baked beans. The ribs were meat falling off the bone tender. smoked corned beef hash was such a huge portion in my opinion. loved it. our server accidentally gave my ribs to the guy at the table next to me(who was seated and ordered that after us) so I had a little bit more of a wait for my food. That kind of sucked but these honest mistakes happen. All good dude. Free refills on coffee. Need to come back for other lunch or dinner options and explore more of the menu.

The first time I tried anything from Q Restaurant & Wine Bar was at Outside Lands. They were selling their famous tator tots and they are absolutely amazing. About a month ago(long overdue review!), I tried out their brunch and it was equally delicious. I’m a huge fan of Eggs Florentine and pretty much any variation of it, so I knew that I would order that. It was hands down, probably one of the best eggs florentine’s I’ve had. I especially loved it because it was made on focaccia bread, which I’ve never had in a benedict before. The eggs were just right and the home fried were really tasty. I also really loved the décor of Q Restaurant and it’s casual and chill vibe. The service was great! Our server always came by to check up on us and she was really sweet. If you are looking for a new brunch spot in the Inner Richmond, Q Restaurant won’t disappoint.

After writing over 200 reviews… you tend to give less and less 5 stars. So giving 5 stars to a place that’s 3.5 stars on Unilocal… must be really special. Why? Because of the most delicious, friggen awesome, yummified HODGEPODGEMIMOSA!!! It’s not even in the menu. So being the generous Unilocaler that I am, I’ll tell you my little SF secret. It’s Champagne with orange, grapefruit, and pomegranate for $ 6 in a wine glass. It was so good I had to get 2! I also had to ask what champagne they used, which was Wolf Blass. Thank you Q Restaurant and Wine Bar, for helping me discover my new favorite drink!!! :D As for the Mac and Cheezy with Tater Tots, it was $ 12.50 and adding Bacon was $ 1.50 = $ 14. That’s pretty pricey if you ask me… It was good, 3 stars by itself and 4 stars adding bacon(it makes a difference). But $ 14 is definitely overpriced, because it’s their most popular dish. Food: 3.5 stars Drinks: 5STARS!!! Ambiance: Casual, Hipster(there are magnetic letters on the wall that add a fun, unique atmosphere) Price: Bit overpriced for the taste of the food($ 14 – 17 a dish) Service: 5 stars(Excellent. One of our friends hardly ate his salad and didn’t like it, and she comp’ed it for us) * Opens late til 11pm! Overall: Though the food isn’t that great, I would crave this mimosa. If a place makes me crave something and makes me happy, I’d be happy to give you 5 stars for making my day! :)

Scoring a Scoutmob coupon enticed me to bring my friends who live in the neighborhood and give this place a try. On a recent pre-holiday weeknight, we met at the restaurant just before 6 pm and it was just filling up. Hits 1) Tater tots Mac ‘n Cheese( ) — What’s not to like, richness and fried foods! 2) Tater Tots side( ) — Make a dipping sauce with their provided hot sauce and ketchup and you’ll be grinning like a Cheshire cat. 3) Broccoli– Cauliflower Gratin( ) — Cheesy goodness. Okay 4) BBQ ribs( ) — Ordered with their spicy BBQ sauce, this order had plenty of flavors from the ribs themselves, red cabbage slaw, and baked beans. Unfortunately, the meat was a bit on the tough side and didn’t fall off the bone. 5) Fried chicken( ) — If you like the Chinese style Jia Zhi Gai, you’ll like this one. If you’re looking for a thick, tasty batter, you’ll be disappointed. 6) Meat Loaf( ) — Baked and then grilled, it was tasty, but a tad on the dry side. 7) Garlic Spinach — Just like it sounds. Not so great 8) Cream of Mushroom Soup( ) — Not only was it lukewarm, but there were mushy clumps in the soup that I WISH were mushrooms. We were wise to arrive before 6 pm as there was a considerable line by the time we left. The service was effective, but sometimes uneven and the noise level is a bit high with the piped music and the big screen TV showing cartoons near the entrance. The prices are reasonable as entrees range mostly between $ 10.00 and $ 15.00(NY steak, the exception). By the time we left, there was a line out the door. Would come back if in the neighborhood, but just a step below Spork(will miss you) in my book.
