BEWARE!!! BEDBUGS galore rude and vile management. I payed for a week and could only stay a few hours due all the bed bug bites. The management is the worst part because they talk down to you like your bothering them. Stay far from this place it is a disgrace. The folks that work for management are very nice with respect for the guests. What messes this place up is the hotel owners.

Basically, better than most SRO hotels in this city. It’s kept clean daily, by staff, then the tenants make a mess. Usually quiet, but there are a few crazies here who scream and slam their doors, not very neighborly. The manager, Sue Patel, is an absolute b****h, altho she pretends to be the nicest person,(don’t be deceived!) The 100year old structure is up to standards set by the city… the location is a diverse neighborhood, not exactly for tourists.

Yes the customer service is kinda in yo face but you have to remember its location and that it is a residential hotel .So that being said just think about what they have to deal with on a daily basis? lol Anyways once they get to know you it’s all good. I’ve tried other hotels at the same price and this place is much better then the rest of the city. If you find a cleaner and more quiet hotel for the same low price pls write a review here and share you better experience with us on Unilocal ! thank you

Horrible customer service. The front door person didn’t believe I was staying at the hotel, so when I walked in, he started yelling and cursing at me. Also, the whole place smells gross.

In the early 1980’s I knew two people who lived here. One died in the 1990’s and the other was a good friend who had moved out of the Tenderloin and found this place to be in a much better location South of Market. Nothing fancy of course, it seemed pretty safe to me — never an incident or complaint. Now in almost 2010, the neighborhood is much better and I can only assume that this is a better place. I could say its the 5 star of the 1 Star hotels — what does that equate to? I’ll give it a four since I never had a bad experience and it seemed fairly clean and reasonably priced in my memory.

As far as residential hotels go, this is a pretty nice place. I have lived here for several years. The management is very strict and does not allow allot of crap to go on. I think the previous review was written with a touch of romanticism. The hotel has gone through a total renovation. There are no cracked windows, they have all been replaced with double paned, double hung windows. I am not going to say this is the Ritz, but like i said as far as SRO’s go this place is pretty nice. A correction to the previous review, the hotel is South of Market, not in the Tenderloin. For those of you not from San Francisco there is a huge difference between the two.

A somewhat shady residential hotel in the tenderloin(edit: SOMA — thanks Mike). Knew someone special who lived there. The rooms remind me of something Bukowski would seek out in times of desperate solitude(when was he NOT seeking something out because of desperate solitude?). Lying on the broken bed under a dim bulb and listening to the city sounds through the cracked window reminded me of lazy Sundays in a violent city. Both nostalgic and slightly dangerous.
