A nice affordable good pizza in the destroy your Financial District. San Francisco your pricing is embarrassing and shows a lack of taste, courtesy and compassion for the people you pretend to serve. Americans do know when foreigners are ripping them off. Ciao. Thank you Portico you just made a loyal customer!

All I can say is I love this place. Employees are super friendly and pizza is always amazing! I will continue to get my weekly, lunchtime, pizza fix here for a very long time. Keep it up y’all!

I go out of my way to get my lunchtime salad at Portico because they don’t use plastic clamshells. It blows me away how many lunch places in the Financial district use plastic clamshells instead of compostable containers. Oh, and by the way they also have a really good salad bar, pizza and pasta!

No Bueno… Sadly. Their pizzas are«meh» as far as flavours, pizza was burned, dry, and not very falvourfull. The stuff on the hot bar didn’t look appetizing and the stuff that did was just like they mixed everything they could think of into one dish to make it as unhealthy as possible(i.e. Potatoes with ranch and cheese). Not going back.

So i have a soft spot for salad bars and Portico does not disapoint. Lots of fresh selections and all sold by weight. Fast and friendly service and conviently located in the financial district. A good selection if you like to make your own salad. Recommend.

Smaller than their other FiDi location. I’d rather walk a little further to go to that place. I always get the half chicken and Cesear salad for $ 8.50.

Yuck. Worst Porticos. Always dirty, nowhere to sit. Not very much food to choose from.

I brought my friend as my coworker recommended this place to me. Food was okay but then we saw a bug alive and crawling around inside the cheese dispenser. We were grossed out and left. They could use a UV lamp or something.

Super fast for a quick work-day lunch. I really like their fruits in the salad bar and pasta with meatballs(tomato sauce is the best)

Portico and me, we go back, way back. Like my professional puberty when I treated co-workers like zits that needed to be popped. Gee, what an awful image but probably accurate when I was as warm as an icicle at work. Maybe that’s why I sought the comfort food at Portico back then. It was like a balm, a very calorific balm to my soul when I felt alienated and alone at work. Oh who am I kidding? I came here for the $ 8.75 Half Rotisserie Chicken with a Caesar Salad(photo: ). It’s not that it’s all that great. In fact, it can be quite variable from tender with crispy skin to dried out in a pool of grease. It’s a roll of the dice how good it’s going to be, but my dream is that it’ll be as good as the whole chickens that people wait for at Costco. I’m never as drawn to the salad bar here since it doesn’t hold a candle to the expansive spread to be found at the more bustling Portico down at First and Mission. And the pizza? Well, if I start eating pizza slices regularly for lunch, you know I’ve reached a slippery slope, and I’m not talking about the grease in the pan. No, it’s all about the poultry and getting a seat up on the second floor overlooking the entire operation(photo: ). Sometimes it’s the only entertainment I get at work. Besides, the Caesar is more consistent than the chicken here, so there’s that. Maybe it’s time that me and Portico part ways. After all, it’s been a good run of highs and lows. But is there any other place I can get a half rotisserie chicken for that price in the FiDi? I didn’t think so. Guess we’re tied at the lovehandle. FOOD — 3 stars… hit-and-miss rotisserie chicken makes me more of a gambler than I really am AMBIANCE — 3 stars… well, there is that balcony view SERVICE — 2.5 stars… sometimes nice, sometimes indifferent, depends on when you catch them TOTAL — 3 stars… guess we’re gonna work through our problems, Portico

Cheap decent large slices of pizza which is good. I came in during lunch to grab a quick fatty slice, only to see a lot of people at the salad bar. I would have done that, if it wasn’t the lunch rush plus the food looked fresh! I ordered the slice of deluxe for like 4 bucks, it was well toasted and tasted great. Overall took like 2min to toast, so it was ready by the time I paid. Each bite had an ideal crunch to it without being burnt. Wouldn’t think twice about stopping here for a cheap slice of decent pizza or the salad bar.

It’s like a Thanksgiving everyday. They have comfort food, savory food, fresh, just made for you kind of food. And the pesto tomato pizza will keep you full until dinner time. They also take full pizza orders. Got $ 5? Make yourself a fun little salad in their long veggie bar. Can you tell I’m a fan? Looks like they lack seating, but alas you are misled! There’s a staircase next to the bathroom that takes you to more seating on a second floor. You are so welcome.

Good quick lunch spot. A lot of variety. They have a salad and hot food buffet at lunch but I always get the ½ chicken and double veggies or the ½ chicken Caesar salad where they actually shred the chicken off the bone for your salad. Everything seems to be very fresh and made daily. The have a entrances on both Sutter and Market and upstairs seating so plenty of space. It can get a bit chaotic during the lunch rush trying to figure out where to stand to order pizza vs a sandwich or salad and what register to line up at, but it works out. It’s a great quick lunch spot.

Not a bad place for a quick fidi lunch. My new office is across the street, so I am busy checking out lunch places in the neighborhood. Portico is a good choice since they offer quite a few options — pizza, sandwiches, and a massive salad/hot food bar. I went in because I had seen some reviews about their salmon and I thought it would be a good addition to a salad. Unfortunately, I got there pretty late and the salmon had been sitting on the hot food bar line for a while and just didn’t look that appetizing. No matter — I had plenty of other choices and made myself a salad with romaine lettuce, kalmata olives, chickpeas, dolmas and some other sundries. It was a pretty standard salad, but all the ingredients were very fresh and the hot bar looked pretty. Kale, roasted potatoes, chicken, tortellini, salmon, some other kind of fish and a bunch of other items. Recommended for a quick lunch that’s as healthy — or unhealthy — as you chose!

So pleasantly surprised with this place. I always walk by but never went in b/c I thought it was only a pizza joint. Came in for lunch and saw the buffet layout. No lines(it was raining too). Picked up at least 5 oz of salmon, brussels sprouts, the kale salad w/red bell and strawberries(SO good, I might just pack the box full of this next time), roasted beets, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and dolma to top it off. I put it on the scale thinking it was going to be about $ 12 – 13, and it was $ 7.95! Everything tasted great. Polite staff. Me like.

Good spot for pizza, salad, soup. I have personally had all three, but this review is only about pizza. If you’re smart, you’ll wait for a fresh, whole pizza to come out of the oven instead of ordering a slice that’s been sitting out for… well, who knows how long? I was not smart today and opted for a stale piece of pepperoni to be heated in the oven. I wasn’t even really hungry, I had just had a salad and a piece of sourdough in my office, but I just wanted something cheesy and carby and delicious. My slice came out to around $ 4 and change, filling and decent, but would have been much better fresh. It’s funny because I saw the pizzaman turning a big pepperoni pizza in the oven that looked like it only needed another couple of minutes while I was waiting for my slice to heat up, but figured the oven would make it all better/a fresh, brand new piece. If I had to do it all over again, I would have not eaten the bread at my office and ordered a fresh personal pizza. Live and learn, party people.

Time: 12:37pm/63°F sunny Purpose: Left office and walk over to stationary supply store. Ambiance: Cafeteria like with self-service salad bar hot/cold. Seatings downstair and upstair. Other side of counter for ordering specialty orders. Staff: 4 – 5 Workers buzzing around during lunch rush restless looking. Most speaks English well so there shouldn’t be any miscommunication. Cleanliness: Didn’t see any problems maybe just the salad bar no sneeze guards and few items mixed in with others, couple piece of spring mix spewn on counter. Eats/Drinks: At a time were everyone was getting sick I avoided the I avoided the salad bar. Opted for a slice of pizza pesto&tomatoe $ 3.90. Good for it’s size but a little bland. Had to add pepper flakes still then was still not good. Crust was okay I guess but would like a slight crunch on bottom, none here. Products: Wraps, sandwiches, hot/cold salad bar $ 7.95 per lb, bottle juice/water, hot/cold salad bar, soups, sides, snacks, fresh fruits, bagels. Punch Line: Good size pizza slices, quick turn over on hot food bar, fast in/out services. Final Thoughts: Came in just to check it out walk out with a slice of pizza not the best by any means, just a good size slice. There are other items that I will try but that won’t be til a little while.

Portico is one of my guilty pleasures. There are just some days that I really want pizza — nothing fancy, just good ol’ pizza. And when I want to indulge my guilty pleasure, I go to Portico. They usually have 4 – 6 pizzas ready — a combination, pepperoni, meat lovers, cheese, etc. You order your pizza, put your slice(s) into the oven to warm them up and they’re ready for you in a couple of minutes. A couple of slices of pizza will run you about $ 6 which is a pretty economical lunch these days. They also have a fair amount of seating — seats for about 10 people downstairs and another 10 people upstairs.

Do you think cafeterias are strange? Think a little longer. Here’s how it went down today: I didn’t want a sandwich. I didn’t want pizza. In fact, I didn’t want carbs at all. I could buy some soup, but that never seems to fill me up. I could go to a sandwich shop, order the sandwich, eat the middle and leave the bread. No, that just didn’t seem right. That’s downright strange. Walking by Portico IV, I looked through the door and noticed there were 2 serving lines: 1 for the hot table, and 1 for the salad bar. The salad bar had sliced roast meats as well. Fill half the plate(yes, a real glass plate) with kale and fruit salad. Fill the other half with roast turkey and roast beef. Rock it like a body builder and win! Price at the register: $ 5.79. Win! Upstairs seating with a view of the street, great for people-watching. Win! Sriracha sauce and Tapatio sauce set out in the dining area. Win! Now my tummy is full, my lips are tingly and bright, my wallet is still showing those pieces of Fed paper. Thank you Portico! My tummy thanks you, my secret diet thanks you, and my wallet thanks you. Maybe cafeterias are a little strange, but this is my kind of strange.

With their doughy crust that is not thick nor too crunchy and melted cheese all over, I must say that I am a fan of Portico’s Pizza! Their combo pizza is the win for me! Add their chicken wings as an appetizer dish, then it makes it a meal! It’s a guaranteed good slice of pizza in the FiDi area as well as a fluffy dough for your wallet!
