The pork chops were grilled. descent but could have been seasoned a little more. a mound of hash browns and large stick to your ribs biscuits? The unisex bathroom is above the dining area and the grill, at the top of a steep single flight stairs. The heat and smoke from the grill makes the short walk along the corridor uncomfortable. Overall the place is decent with above average food, i’d come back

I have lived in the haight area for almost a year and finally went into the famed Pork Store for the first time to have breakfast. I expected crowded but it was a quick turnover which was great! The servers were always fast paced and moving and maybe a little less personal at first glance but to talk to them they were all very kind and very professional! The food, I got the eggs in a tasty nest and it was phenomenal!!! Best part was there was so much food I couldn’t finish it all, aka LEFTOVERS! so excited to enjoy this food again later! Shout out to the servers and cooks there you are all fantastic and I will be back to try other menu items.

Such a waste of money $ 47 per tip for two breakfasts a coffee and a tea. Seriously do not ever eat here unless you enjoy being taking for a ride. The service is fine and the was fine. None of it is worth a $ 25+ price per person for breakfast. I will never be back. I assume it is kept open by hipsters and nostalgia seekers. McDonalds is a better option.

Really great breakfasat place! Eggs ina tasty nest with big olé’ Iced tea will help with any hangover. However, long lines and no resservations keeps me away most weekends

This place is fantastic! Great local vibe. an eclectic mix of oddballs, hipsters and everything else. The food was what you expect from a diner but packed with flavor and in amounts to force a belt check. The real fun came from watching the cooks churn out plate after plate as if nothing could derail them and the wait staff glided hither and forth, taking orders, garnishing plates, topping off coffees. So much fun to watch, it was food ballet!

Excellent breakfast. I got here early in the morning and Finns seemed quiet and gloomy, but they soon perked up(maybe the coffee?). Ordered 2 pacemakers w/bananas and walnuts, coffee, and am effects over medium. I got served quickly. There was only one waitress(on a Friday morning with a full counter and only 2 empty tables). Many must be locals or regulars because she’s talking to many as if she knows them. Very friendly. Next time I’m going for one of the egg dishes. They look very goo and creative.

Came here on a Sunday around prime time for normal brunching and while here was a small line, the wait wasn’t too long at all. The menu was more breakfast than brunch but solid nonetheless. We had Amy’s veggie scramble with beef, side porkchop, eggs in a nest, and side corned beef hash. I really liked the scramble with the added beef and corned beef hash was just like I remember from my childhood :) The eggs in a nest was a bit on the salty side and there wasn’t too much to write home about re: the pork chop. Sitting at the counter was really awesome because you get to see all the action with the chefs. Very cool aspect. I actually vlogged my meal in the first minute of this video for a deeper insight: I would come back just because of the minimal wait on a Sunday afternoon!

SOLID breakfast joint. Loved the sausage patty with hashbrowns and OJ. I will be back for breakfast more often. Great, fast service and so many options on the menu!

Food and portions here were good and it was a hearty breakfast. We had the Eggs in a Tasty Nest and the Corned Beef Hash Special(Note: there’s also a regular corned beef hash). Both items were pretty tasty. However, the bathroom was nasty. It’s cramped and dirty. Needed to minus a star for that. The place is on the small side without too many tables.

I was very impressed with how quickly everything happens at this place. Very popular spot so the line can be a little intimidating but they get through it very quickly(with that being said it would probably be difficult for large groups). The waitresses were very nice and attentive. We placed our orders and quickly got our food. I had the country fried steak and eggs and it was very good. I wanted to go the next day and get it again but my girlfriend shot me down — something about«being more healthy» and«getting fat», whatever. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.

OMG this place is amazing. We were in town for the NYE2016 celebration and relied on our beloved Unilocalers. Thank god we did. The wait was about 15 mins, and the waitress came outside and gave free coffee to everybody. The time you wait is completely worth it. Since it is the first of the year, the restaurant provided bottomless champagne to all of the guests… FREEOFCHARGE. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We were a party of five and ordered The Piggie Special(with pancakes), Eggs on a Tasty Nest, Pork Special, Southwestern Scramble, and the Huevos Rancheros plate. Everything was so good. My dad dropped his plate of pork chops, so the waitress brought him a fresh plate of sausage and toast. Everything was great… Five stars for sure!!!

Came here on a whim when I was in SF for my dad’s surgery because it’s close to UCSF and it had great ratings. This place is a gem in the neighborhood and a little hole in the wall. You wouldn’t think much of it looking in, but the place has a lot of character. I ordered the green benedict which had their delicious hollandaise sauce, asparagus, and two poached eggs on a piece of toast. My mom ordered one of generic breakfast meals which came with chicken apple sausage, pancake, and two poached eggs. Boyfriend ordered a vegan dish, I can’t remember exactly what it was. It was one of their specials and was recommended by our waitress. Boyfriend said it was very, very good. I LOVED their hollandaise sauce. LOVED. SO. GOOD. It’s one of those sauces that I could eat on any savory food. I wish my egg yolks had been a little more runny, but they were still delicious. There was one cook making food for the entire restaurant during the period we were there and he had absolutely no down time. It was quite impressive. Their menu isn’t large, but it’s not minimal either. It was enough that I was impressed the cook had everything up to par and was making no mistakes. I love that this restaurant had tons of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Boyfriend is a vegetarian and it’s nice when we can go somewhere and he’s able to enjoy his meal instead of settling for the only thing on the menu. Would definitely stop on by next time we’re in town!

I know the name sounds like a grocery or deli store, but this is one serious brunch place. And there actually isn’t a 45min-1hr wait on weekends. And it actually doesn’t cost $ 15 per entrée. And IT’s INSF! Say whaaaat… this defies the laws of the SF brunch universe. The down-to-earth diner ambiance is a nice change from the more well-known, frequently Instagrammed bouge brunch places like Plow and Kitchen Story. It’s a fun experience sitting at the bar; you can even fantasize going back in time to the 1920’s. The décor is whimsical with adorable pig-themed paraphernalia, lots of pink, and the interesting architecture of the interior balcony overlooking the restaurant(I was on my way to the restroom on the second floor, and I almost wanted to go back to get my phone for that hip aerial view picture). Granted, it’s not new and shiny and the restrooms could use some work, but overall the café is reasonably clean. With the extensive and mouth-watering menu, we took awhile to decide but the server was very patient with us. While waiting for the food, we people-watched(food-watched?) the operations of the open kitchen and discovered more items we wanted to try… pretty much everything we saw looked delish. I was particularly impressed by the large-scale hash brown batches, which reminded me of La Taqueria’s piles of carne asada to keep up with the high turnover. Similarly, Pork Store café maintains a steady supply of fresh, golden hash browns. (Side note: If you liked Pork Store, Art’s in the Sunset would be good to check out – it’s similar with the diner set-up and famous hash browns, except it’s smaller and has some Korean fusionized into it) (++) EGGSIN A TASTYNEST: one of their most popular items, and tasty indeed! The nest consists of crispy hash browns with assorted brunch guilty pleasures(bacon, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, onions, and cheese) topped with two eggs. Indulgent goodness that would no doubt be an efficacious hangover cure. I think my favorite was the biscuits, which tasted homemade – a wonderfully soft texture and subtle butter flavors, not too heavy. They give you one piece but it’s really two pieces stuck together i.e. good for mooching off the boo’s plate and not feeling bad about it. (++) GREENBENEDICT: The asparagus does put an eccentric spin on the Benedict, though not at the strangeness level of green eggs and ham. It went surprisingly well with the avocado, eggs, and zesty hollandaise. My favorite part was the bread base, which tasted very much like garlic bread. Overall this was excellent and probably one of my favorite Benedict renditions ever, despite popular belief that gourmet Benedicts require crab or lobster. The poached eggs were overdone and lacked runny yolks, but I actually prefer it this way – less overwhelming yolk flavor, less messy, and the hollandaise already does a good job as the sauce to mop up with your bread after you’ve eaten the rest of the toppings. It comes with a side of hash browns(!!!) Both were $ 10.75, very reasonable considering the ginormous portion and uniqueness of the dishes. We will be back to see what else Pork Store has in store!

I was flirting with some guy online and he suggested this place as his favorite brunch spot — okay.sure. But since I wanted to grab some food, I decided — why not check something new out. I had a few friends review this place already and they had decent reviews — so sure. Let’s check it out. He said they have a good dish called eggs in a nest — which was 2 eggs on a bed of potatoes, onions, and bell peppers. It was a good dish, but so greasy. The biscuit that came with my dish was only okay as well. Protip: There’s a line outside for most people, but if you’re headed there yourself, go inside if you can find a seat at the counter.

Double date brunch today with our friends. BF And I were not that hungry so we split the broccoli pesto scramble with feta cheese. I wish they cut the feta cheese into smaller pieces Bc when transferred half the eggs to my plate…(kudos to the server for bringing two plates without us asking) … I had huge chunks of feta but my bf didn’t have any. I was surprised when my bf said he loved the biscuit Bc he usually doesn’t like biscuits.(It does taste really good when we smothered the feta on there). The star was the hash browns. They’re so good and crispy! Mmmm We were full even though we shared and our friends had to take their food to go Bc the portions were generous, especially for the price. I do recommend the place but maybe not the broccoli pesto scramble. I would try the eggs in the nest instead. Of note, my BF and I were waiting for a table before our friends came in and we said four. The waiter seated us and gave us some water with two cups so we asked for two more. He said that we had to leave until our friends came. Hmph. They got there within a few minutes(literally we walked out of the restaurant and they gave our table to someone else and then our friends came). Luckily the wait wasn’t too long and we were back in within 10 minutes but this was still a little unpleasant. the waiter was as nice as he could be about it though. So make sure you have the whole party there before you get seated. I wouldn’t recommend anymore than 4 people.

We love the Pork Store! This place kind of holds some sentimental meaning. My husband and I used to come here for breakfast all the time. Since having our daughter we don’t make it back as much as we would like but when we do it’s like a special treat! It can get really crowded on the weekends or holidays so you can expect to wait in a line outside. One of the things that makes this less painful is that there is a nice girl who will walk outside and give you coffee :) Once you get inside, don’t expect a clean and nice place. This is a diner. Sometimes it’s kinda dirty and greasy but that’s part of the appeal of this place. With new and modern housing and restaurants popping up everywhere sometimes you just need a good old dusty diner! The waitresses aren’t that nice. They kind of have that«I work in the Haight, I am too cool for school» attitude. They’re lucky the food is good because it doesn’t matter how many times you say thank you or smile, they’re just not nice. Overall this is a fun place to go and eat and my husband and I will always come here when we need a hangover fix! Can’t wait to start taking the little one here!

Don’t be deterred from the line out front; it moves rather quickly and it is well worth the wait. I recommend going hungry and not on a diet. They have huge portions of high quality flavorful food. A very homemade presentation. Quaint old location that I expect to be around for a long time. One complaint was that it was a bit toasty inside. Still, 5 star breakfast & I’ll be back!

This location is definitely strictly business, don’t come in expecting a friendly smile or any small talk. The servers seem overwhelmed and burdened. You are expected to know that you are supposed to form a line outside of the door, no list and DONOTEVENTHINK of approaching that counter unless beckoned. I didn’t make this mistake, but I saw others do it and they did not leave unscathed by the waitstaff! This location is also extremely stuffy and hot, the smell and feel of the greasy griddle envelopes you. I got the same dish that I order at the Valencia location(biscuits and veggie gravy, a la cart) and it was different in two ways: it was hotter and a little more plentiful in the gravy department. Here is why they get a lower rating than Valencia though(aside from less friendly service and less comfortable accommodations) — they serve CANS of soda, Valencia serves fountain with free refills.

My fiancé loves this place for breakfast so we had to stop in. There was bit of a line when we got there but the tables turned quickly. Our wait was about 15 minutes and well worth it. The smell was enticing! We got the Pork Store Special(2 pork chops, 2 eggs, hash browns, and toast) and a short stack. We shared the plates and it was a lot of food. The pork chops are lean and tender. The pancakes brought some sweetness to the savory breakfast. Our breakfast total was $ 25 bucks including 2 drinks. Great start to our busy day.

My husband and I were looking for a good place to enjoy brunch on Sunday before heading back home. He suggested we try Pork Store Café since he has been there in the past and recommended their pancakes. I never turn down good pancakes so we headed over. Street parking is your best bet here. We were lucky enough to find good parking right in the front. They open at 8AM and we were happy to see that they were busy even at 8AM! We were seated promptly and the staff helped us get a high chair for our baby too. We were relocated to a bigger table when it became available so that we had more room for our family of three. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and mickey pancake(for the baby. and me) and my husband ordered the mixed berry pancakes(full stake). All really really really good. Exceptionally good. I didn’t realize how big my vegetarian omelette would be, there was a huge biscuit and side of hash that came with my order. I honestly couldn’t finish it all and had to take it home(fine by me). The mickey pancake was perfect for me and my son to share. He ate the ears and I ate the rest. My husband’s mixed berry pancakes were delicious! They had fruit cooked inside the pancake and on top! Wow! He also couldn’t finish his full stake and took the rest home. A cute little place that has been around since 1914 and I imagine they will be around for a long time given the quality of their food! The staff were great and I would totally recommend to anyone coming to visit SF. The restrooms are small and located upstairs but totally fine by us. Enjoy!

Cherylynn N. starts her review(11.07.2012) by saying«they say the way to a guy’s heart is his stomach» — well, I’m not a guy, but this certainly rings true for me. This is why one of my best friends Flor decided that we should meet at Pork Store Café before she took me on a day time adventure around San Francisco. This is also why I love that girl! Pork Store Café has an eclectic kinda vibe that I found fitting of its Haight address. At first I was a bit concerned about their«the party is not seated until the whole party is there» policy, especially because my Über was running a bit behind(traffic? the long way? who knows) but thankfully I pulled up to the café right as they were calling us for our table. I had my luggage with me, which was super cumbersome, but since we were both there the server was nice enough to let my friend run to her car to put my luggage away. This gave me time to browse the large(and impressive) menu and to make my breakfast selection of eggs benedict($ 8.95 /which was absolutely delicious!) Both my plate and Flor’s were filled to the brim with food, and both were scraped clean by the end of the meal. Service was fast and friendly and the bill was a fair price! Some things to note: Small establishment, restrooms are up a flight of stairs and over the griddle so standing in line gets HOT!
